So, there are a lot of different movie versions that have been made of this book, so I hunted some down that are available to stream over the internets.

Netfix:
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: 1920's version starring John Barrymore
Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde: 1971 Hammer Films version with some gender swapping
Neanderthal Man: 1953 B movie version
Edge of Sanity: 1989 version with cocaine as the bad drug
Jekyll: BBC miniseries written by Steven Moffat from Dr. Who
Jekyll: 2007 digital bad guy

Amazon:
So Amazon Instant Video has a bunch of these plus a ton more (I got tired of cutting and pasting) to rent for money, and a few of them for free with Amazon Prime.

If you watch anything interesting, post it here!

Gregory Wright | 11 comments After finishing the book I am actually pretty excited to check out a few of these. Before the book I would not have even considered them. Strange how books will do that. But, I am now very interested to see how different directors would bring such an interesting construction of book to file. I will probably watch them all in chronological order and see the they diverge, which I assume they do. Well, all except Steven Moffat who can do no wrong.

I watched Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde last night. It is a fun Hammer film that has very little to do with the original story. (And even manages to bring Jack the Ripper and Burke and Hare into the mix.) Dr. Jekyll is looking for the elixer of life using female hormones, and manages to turn himself into an evil lady. (To tell the truth, they are about the same level of evil.) I enjoyed it.

Gregory Wright | 11 comments I am about 1/3 way through the 1920's silent film. Doesn't seem to stick to the story too closely so far, but I am enjoying it:

So last night I watched Daughter of Dr. Jekyll (1957) starring Gloria Talbot. It obviously has little to do with the book - not only is it about Jekyll's daughter, but Jekyll was a werewolf. It's production quality is pretty low, not even a B movie, but I really enjoyed it. I love Gloria Talbott, and this film had plenty of cheesy fun.
