Sad news from the Huffington Post: Homer, Heroic Blind 'Wonder Cat' Who Inspired Millions, Dies in New York at 16
I have to admit that I can't bring myself to read it.

Swanky brought me a baby goanna today. I'm so glad reptilian mothers aren't protective of their young. The mother is considerably larger, and really aggressive.

This 3 week old baby has already learned to rear up, inflate its throat sac and hiss plenty. Reptile wranglers were able to relocate baby (totally unscathed), but mother was nowhere in sight. Sigh.

You just have to post them online somewhere (like Flickr) first. Then you use the code above the comment box ("some html is ok") to post the link to the pic.

Thank you so much for telling me!! Now onto FLickr.

I just read a great short story on Clarkesworld. Definitely a Chaos Reading type of story: Tortoiseshell Cats Are Not Refundable
It did not end in the predictable way I'd imagined.

Finally getting started on Cat Sense: The Feline Enigma Revealed. So far, it's just reminding me how stupid people are. That they even still need a book explaining this stuff, 10,000+ years later..

Yep. It's a medieval manuscript with cat paw prints on it.

So, people brought their young cat into the clinic today. Very frightened because the cat was apparently very sick, and 'acting like she is in a lot of pain'. They even brought a video, which showed the cat sticking her butt and tail straight up in the air and moaning.
After we all succumbed to helpless laughter in the office, the other vet went back into the room to explain the feline facts of life to the owners. The spay is scheduled for Monday.

Bahaha! My niece took her daschund to the vet a few years ago, terribly distressed because she had discovered a lump.. you guessed it.

Thats hysterical!!I too work in the field. It kinda sad that that is really not uncommon...

You can do that? I got a dog from the pound a week ago, just coming out of heat and still spotting. And my vet refuses to spay for 6 more weeks.

It's better to wait for two months after a dog's heat to spay because otherwise they can have false pregnancies. Not a problem with cats. Plus you don't have a lot of choice with cats, they usually go right back into heat if they don't get pregnant.

My friend just sent me this pic from the US, where she & new hubby are honeymooning:

Yeah, maybe the tower had another cat's scent on it and it put them off. My cats go crazy for cardboard boxes just like the international superstar Maru, so perhaps give that a go if you haven't already :)
Picky bastards!
They do like boxes. I'd have been pissed if we hadn't gotten the tower for free, so all I really wasted was a half hour vacuuming it and spraying it with Nature's Miracle for no reason.
Maru is awesome. I just came across the world's angriest [looking] cat.

Leo, your old fave cat is a legend. Your internet is mental. Is it something to do with this Norwegian wormhole thing?
They might be the cause of his anger, Rebecca!

Becs- yes, Norwegian wormhole. I had a dream last night that they changed Norwegian presidents (not sure if that's a thing) and he had to sing the national anthem but got paralysed by fear then almost hit by a car. This + talking cats aligning under Jupiter means you might be running out of milk this coming Tuesday, so heads up :)

Hey, this sounds like one of those cool run on dreams that trip you out for days (note to self - keep a notebook by the bed, those who write do this don't they?), and the heads up is welcome but I don't think kitties aligning under Jupiter is worrisome : he's got it going on

The problem with a lot of people is getting the photo online in the first place. Do you have any photos already online? Then you can usually right click it to choose copy url/address or something similar.
Or right click and choose View Image, and then you can grab the images url from the address bar in the browser.

Copy and paste this and then change the "http...jpg" to use your own url. (Can be jpg, gif, png) Right click on the image online to choose an option to copy its address/url.

It's best to remove that last space at the end before the bracket, while you're at it.
Happy to oblige with cat pictures! Here's the latest member of my household. Currently "Vincent", although has also been Harvey, Stripey, Strippy (don't ask), and Finnegan McStripeypants (again, don't ask). He was found after being hit by a car with his pelvis broken in 3 places and both femurs dislocated.
Here he is on the cat wall with his brother Max, who was introduced as a kitten in message 48 and had a broken femur. So, as you can see, you can't keep a good cat down!

Swank managed to find herself on the roof in a sudden tropical downpour this week. She got stuck in the rafters of the verandah waiting for the storm to pass so that she could get down without getting wet. Patiently.....not.

Matrix is our nice cat.

She also likes to read.

James Bond has a license to kill. Unfortunately, he likes to also practice on his people.

Thank you! Our vet once told us: "Torties are weird." They do seem like a special breed!
Hope to see pics of yours one day when you figure out the technology! (It actually took me almost a year to figure out how to post the pics above on GR because they are on Instagram and I could never figure out how to get the correct URL).
