Jen (jenlb) | 50 comments I've had it happen a few times on different kindles, and it's usually because the clock gets out of sync. Turn wi-fi on, and in your home or settings menu hit 'sync and check for items'. Restart (from the menu, not your power switch) and hopefully that will fix it.

I have had to start from scratch twice when I couldn't get it fixed. I backed up my kindle to Calibre, reset the kindle to factory defaults, and re- loaded the books.

Good luck! It's a very annoying problem.

Jen (jenlb) | 50 comments Great! I think that someone on Goodreads had told me about it, so the circle is complete :-)

sonya marie madden | 268 comments i HAVE A QUESTION: i have the kk 3rd edition. I went to download new books to my portable, and it won't do it. I also have stuff on my computer, through the kindle app. from there things open up fine.

I only have 27 items on my portable, and is it true the kk can hold 1500 books?

Maria (mari6s) | 1 comments Thank you Jen, I had the same problem and your fix worked wonderfully well! Without even restarting my Kindle: it just went on screensaver after I left it to sync, and when I switched it back on, it was sorting the most recent books first once more :)
Truth is I hadn't even thought to look at the clock, which was about 10 hours out of sync (though I had last synced for new items just a few days ago!) :/ I'm glad I found this discussion, it saved me a lot of time and worry!

Amazon recently released a mandatory update for older Kindle models. Failure to update before March 22 made your Kindle unable to access the Kindle cloud.

To solve this problem you must download the correct software version to your PC and update your Kindle manually over USB.

Oh, at least. Amazon themselves advertise that it can hold up to 3500 books.
