Deborah-anne | 6 comments I do not know the name of the author but she wrote a number of books (titles also unknown). The ones I remember.
The young seamstress in Paris who becomes a designer
The story of a young carpenter who becomes a furniture maker (about the time of Chippendale)
The other story I think was about a jewelry maker.

They were Period Romance type novels but not bodice rippers

I think this needs to be moved out of "requests for books in general."

So where would you suggest that I move it to?

Unsolved folder, if you are looking for a specific book. Requests for books in general is, for example, if you wanted general suggestions for books about unhappy marriages in the 19th century.

Click on the edit link next to the thread title - there should be a drop down box where you can choose among folders.

If you can't do it, a moderator can always do it. They don't mind.

No, but thanks for the suggestion. It was definitely a Period piece about a seamstress in an Haute Coutoure house in Paris. Something 'Silken Splendour' but not that name if you see what I mean. The author wrote all of the books listed in the initial request.
