The Barnes & Noble website has influenced my addiction greatly! When I read reviews about books I am interested in, the reviewer will often suggest other books. Of course I have to click on those books & read about them. Nine times out of ten, they become additions to my wish list. I buy books from Barnes & Noble (online & in store), Borders, Ebay, Amazon, used bookstores, Halfprice books, Meijer, Walmart, Target, & even garage sales! If I am walking through a store & see books, I come to a screeching halt! :-)

Hi Sam!

They know me quite well. In fact, the last time I was in, one of them was heading over to help me, but when she saw who I was she said she knew I didn't need any help, she knew I knew where everything was. :-D
Sam, BN actually has a tote bag with that quote on it!! How funny. But I didn't like the colors or design so I didn't get it. That's also my favorite quote, and unfortunately it's true lol. I buy books before I buy anything else.

I have to say no one tries to help me anymore either at Borders! That is too funny, but I'm glad I'm not alone. We BBA have to stick together! LOL
I have too many books -- more than I can read, but I still buy them anyway ;)I find that amazon lists and goodreads profiles have made me triple how many books I have. I see so-and-so liked this book, and I figure OOOH! I'LL LIKE IT, TOO!
Actually, my latest problem is that I buy a book in paperback and end up loving it. So, I decide that I need it in hardcover because it will wear out otherwise. So, I re-buy it in hardcover. Then, I discover that I prefer large print books, so I end up buying it a 3rd time in large print. I'm silly! Luckily, I usually can find books used or I can make use of paperbackswap. Still, I should learn from my mistakes!
My name is Debbie and I am a book addict I cannot do shopping without at least looking at books I have books upstairs that I havent got round to reading yet I do try to keep to thrillers, horror Paranormal reads. I got the twilight Saga books by accident it is a like an addiction for buying shoes or a bag except mine is Books. My sister in law knows what I am on about it is our secret, she enjoys a good book also but she is is Africa. I now also have one daughter doing the same reading till all hours especially a good book. I now have a wardrobe and draws filling up with Books oops:-)

I like to also check out the book section at the grocery store as I can throw them in and they count as "grocery" purchases. shh!!! don't tell my husband. LOL

I just rationalized buying somewhere around 40 books (I'm too afraid to count them!) because my birthday is coming up. I own more books that I need to read than ones I have already read. I have 13 bookshelves plus ones that my husband made for me that go all the way along one wall from floor to ceiling. And I still have to stack them on other flat surfaces. I really do have an addiction, but at least its a somewhat healthy one. :) Glad to find I'm in good company. :)

OK, so I did count. The number is 87 in the past 2 weeks!!*hangs head in shame*
But I only paid full price for around 5 of them! Oh and I won a bid on ebay for 39 more coming my way. I guess I didn't see how much of an addiction I had until I counted. Wow. Anyway, I'll stop rambling now.
Oh, and by the way, I'm new on this board, so its nice to meet you all!
Kelli, don't feel bad, you're definately not alone, in fact, you fit right in with us. Come join the B.B.A.A. at http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/2...

LOL! Kelli you are making me feel so much better. After buying around 70 last month (I quit counting cause it was so ridiculous) I've only bought around 10-11 so far this month. I'm hoping to keep it under 20 for the month. I think I can do it.
Don't you love the hunt for books on ebay? I get a lot of mine from there.
Welcome Kelli!! Yeah don't feel bad you are in the right place for your book buying addiction! Believe me I've started buying more books since I joined GR than I ever did before!

a friend invited me to good books to compare books and so far ive listed over 900 books ive read, very scary when i know there are many i havnt even listed and thats the ones ive read, i have hundreds of books yet to read. yes i am a total book addict have been for the last 30 plus years. i also continue to buy books too.

Oh I am a total book buying addict. I have to hide them from my husband when I bring them into the house. I have so many, and they are spread throughout the house. My TBR pile is monstrous. I'm even a member of some survey sites that let you earn points to get gift cards at BN, Border's, and Amazon. I love getting those boxes in the mail!

OMG, I'm not alone!!! LOL. I'm new here. I'm Kat, and I'm a HUGE book buying addict. I too smuggle them home so my husband doesn't see them. Biggest thrill is when I get a box from Amazon. I have a cabinet full of books to be read, tons of books piled on the top, plus a bookbag of books. Yeah, I smuggle them in, but I have a feeling that he can't help but see my stacks growing!

Welcome Heather and Kat!!! You are in good company with your addiction. I'm guilty of sneaking in and hiding my stash of books too. Right now my TBR pile in my house has topped 300 *hangs head in shame*. I'm trying so hard not to buy any right now but there are about 8 book coming out in the next couple of weeks that I must have, LOL!

Hi, LooLoo! Thanks for the nice welcome. I carry a list of books in my purse of upcoming releases. Biggest thrill for me is Tuesday, new release day at Books-A-Million. Think there's a number of them coming out this week.

My collection isn't nearly as impressive as some of yours, but one thing that actually surprised me (and scared me a little) was noticing that, this year alone, I doubled the number of books I have. I do not want to calculate how much money went into that XD. (especially considering books in my country are very expensiveBut one thing's for sure ... I love buying books and I just hope I get the chance to read them all quickly, even though I'm a slow reader.
I'm finding that I too will read recommendations and then turn around and buy the books. My husband thought it was quirky and now just rolls his eyes and makes comments around the stacks falling over. I carry a list of all the books I have because I shop mostly online, garage sales and thrift stores. It's gotten to the point that I'm on notebook #3 because my lists are getting larger and larger. I need a snappy comeback when my husband starts complaining. Any suggestions?

Well, I just went on a book-buying frenzy over the past two days at amazon... So, I'm vowing not to buy any new books from 11/1/09 - 12/31/09.However, I did allow myself a couple of exceptions:
1) Pre-orders don't count. hehe
2) Buying someone a present
3) Paperbackswap is okay
We'll see how I do... I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

LOL. Had to save some money for next week's releases and an Amazon order! :D
Update on my vow to not buy any new books between 11/1 and 12/31/09. Hehe. I failed on 11/11. Bad Flibbity!!!!!!!
Oh well, I still have another month and a half to try not to buy any new ones ;)
