Please don't post items here unless they are free for everyone.

Anthony Puyo | 64 comments Anthony Puyo Presents: Misery Theater is free but only today. It reads like episodes of Tales from the Crypt!

Myst | 408 comments Is it just me, or are a lot of the free horror books on amazon today in the wrong section.

There is so much pnr/cozy mysteries (I kid you not)/romance in there it's not funny. A selection of the least horrific showing for me:

Girl's Guide to Witchcraft (Jane Madison Series) by Mindy Klasky
State of Grace (Resurrection #1) by Elizabeth Davies
The Vampire's Pet (The Vampyr, #1) by V.R. Cumming
Soul Rebel (Rebel Riders #1) by C.J. Pinard
A Hiss-tory of Magic (A Wonder Cats Mystery, #1) by Harper Lin

It's been like this for quite a while. I saw some of the books you listed here in the Amazon horror section weeks ago.
I guess, for Amazon a book already qualifies as horror if there is a vampire in the story. Doesn't matter if it is just a romance novel where one of the characters happens to be a vampire.

Pretty annoying, though, scrolling through all this stuff, when you're looking for decent horror.

message 1368: by Myst (new)

Myst | 408 comments Well I like vampires, but some of these books aren't even classified as horror on amazon. So I'm confused how they got in there to begin with.

message 1369: by Randy (new)

Randy Harmelink | 1639 comments As I recall, it's the authors that determine which categories their books are listed in...

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 245 comments Randy, are you just taking a break, or have you decided not to share these lists any longer? I've always looked forward to going through them, but I understand it's a lot of work.

message 1371: by [deleted user] (new)

I always liked Randy's lists, too.
That way, I found a lot of authors that were never on my radar.

message 1372: by Lena (new)

Lena | 2680 comments Me too! I give Randy credit in every review from books I downloaded through his generosity.

Want an apocalypse with a decidedly English flavour? Why not try 'To Escape the Dead'... If your expecting polite smiles, dancing chimney sweeps or a nice afternoon tea then you may be a bit disappointed.... guts, gore and death by the fistful are much more the order of the day... although if you're lucky you may still be able to get your hands on a warm beer... after all it's only the apocalypse, not the end of the world. Enjoy :0)

Christopher Johnson | 8 comments Just a reminder that my book Seven Days Dead is free for Kindle until Feb 17th. I need honest reviews to help me put my book in front of my target audience, since people are more likely to buy a book or product that other people have rated highly. I've gotten some good reviews but not nearly enough, so please download a copy, read, rate and review. Help me push this book to the top of the Amazon Best Seller list! Thank you.

Jan Mayes (janlmayes) Hope you're feeling/coping better Randy. Thanks for doing the list. I tried to get my horror ebook free on kindle but they limited me to 5 days per 3 month period. I wonder how other authors get their books permanently free on KDP? Anyways, I'm always glad to read free horror books.

It's my understanding that Amazon matches prices, so if it is free elsewhere, they allow it to be free on Amazon. I don't know what other conditions might apply.

Just did a Google search and found this:
