Ruth Wang (ruth_nyuuu) | 21 comments The first novel I chose is “Before I Go To Sleep” by S.J Watson. I chose this book because; the summary of this book on IMPAC Dublin Awards website was strong:

“Memories define us. So what if you lost yours every time you went to sleep? Your name, your identity, your past, even the people you love – all forgotten overnight. And the one person you trust may only be telling you half the truth. Welcome to Christine’s life.”

This gave me a desire to know what Christine is going to do about this problem. How did she become amnestic? Why couldn’t she trust the only person she can trust? It gave me a longing to know all about her life.

This book was a nominee for the IMPAC Dublin Award. Also, it was the Winner of the Galaxy National UK Thriller & Crime Novel of the Year, 2011, Winner of the Dutch Crimezone Debut of the Year, 2012, Winner of the French SNCF Prix du Polar prize for best Crime Novel, 2012, and Winner of the Crimefest Audible Sounds of Crime Award for Best Unabridged Audiobook, 2012

The second novel I chose is “The Language of Flowers” by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. I chose this book because it’s about the life of a girl had had not being loved by her parents nor the foster parents. When I read the summary of this book, I thought “Oh poor girl, she must been really damaged.” Like the first book, I wanted to know about her past, what brought her here, and how does she use flowers to communicate. There were a lot of questions in my mind while I was reading the summary, which is why I chose this book.

This book was also a nominee for the IMPAC Dublin Awards. It was also New York Times Bestseller.
