Malia Haberman If you could have just one magical power, what would it be?

(It's working now.)

Paul Perry (pezski) | 292 comments The link doesn't seem to be working.

I'd go for telekinesis - having just watched the excellent film Chronicle, it has to be the most versatile power.

Teleportation.

Question: Why are you using your booklinks as a form of signature? It's rather silly looking.

Oh, I never thought about it. I guess because it's just a habit to add it to stuff. It's easy to remove. Thanks for letting me know. :)

You're right. The link seems to have a kink. I'll check it out. Thanks!

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd just never seen authors doing it before, so thought I'd ask.

By the way, your link to the poll doesn't work. You might want to check it and edit the correct one in.

It's fixed now. Don't know why it went haywire. Weird. I think I would enjoy telekinesis too. Then I could vacuum and dust while writing. :)

I know. It's hard to pick only one, isn't it? I picked teleportation since I think it would be awesome to get some place in just a matter of seconds.

message 12: by Weenie (new)

Weenie | 99 comments Teleportation - no more rush hour!

message 13: by Jeremiah (new)

Jeremiah Kleckner (jeremiahkleckner) | 16 comments After some thought, I picked telekinesis. It's the most versatile.

Julia | 957 comments What would I have to give up to get this power? It's never-- ok, rarely-- a good idea.

If forced, telepathy, which isn't on the poll, but that's okay, I found something.

message 19: by D.W. (last edited Mar 04, 2013 12:23PM) (new)

D.W. Jackson (dwjackson) | 31 comments mind controle ofcourse then i would be on par with the female species. but since that wasnt on the list id have to say shapeshift into any person. so many thing u could do with that.

Jed (specklebang) | 109 comments Time manipulation as in The Girl, the Gold Watch & Everything

No strings attached with these powers. It's just because everyone is so awesome. :)

message 22: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (hellraisercollk) | 5 comments @Emile I absolutely am. With invisibility you don't really need other powers. You can get anywhere because you can either a)steal the money to buy tickets or b)just walk right on the plane, bus train etc and never have to pay for anything. You can basically write your own ticket if you're invisible.

message 23: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) I picked teleportation because it would be cool to travel quickly and without cars...just think how much more money we would have if we never had to pay for gasoline! :)

message 24: by Jed (new)

Jed (specklebang) | 109 comments So, you are committed to a life of crime? :-)

message 25: by Jed (new)

Jed (specklebang) | 109 comments I like that shape-shifting thing also. It's the mucus I don't like!

message 26: by Raivo (last edited Mar 04, 2013 05:34PM) (new)

Raivo Verk | 23 comments Jed, maybe there's no mucus involved, for example like the Leviathans change in Supernatural. No mucus, only eating their prey..hehe, though I've never understood if that's optional or they just do it so there wouldn't be two of them..hmm

ohh, and I'd probably go with telekinesis or mind reading, or perhaps mind reading in a way that you can alter their memories/thoughts?
It's way to hard to choose just one :(

message 27: by Jed (last edited Mar 04, 2013 06:18PM) (new)

Jed (specklebang) | 109 comments Ooops. Sorry. I'm in the middle of Rapture book 3 of the Bel Dame series and I have Skeen's Search and there is mucus all over the place with those darn shifters.

Now, mucus-free shifting would be a great choice.

message 28: by Stan (last edited Mar 04, 2013 07:06PM) (new)

Stan (lendondain) | 168 comments I'd choose the ability to read minds. Hands down. I have no interest in hurting people, and as for travel, well, with this ability, I'm sure I'd quickly make enough money to afford my own jet.

Also, I'd be able to tell what my wife is thinking at any given moment, which would easily be the most useful application of any possible magic power.

message 29: by DavidO (new)

DavidO (drgnangl) Emanating constant good vibes so people near me would always want to come back for more.

message 30: by Yangsze (new)

Yangsze Choo | 13 comments Teleportation! Then I could go and have lunch anywhere I wanted to in the world ;)

Actually, I'd also like the power to put other people (i.e. my kids) to sleep...

message 31: by Janine (new)

Janine Southard (jani_s) | 8 comments Not on the list: I'd like to instantly know if a person will be my friend. (Good for both saving effort and avoiding backstabbers/yes-friends.)

Otherwise: Sooooo definitely teleportation.

Malia Haberman Jed wrote: "I know I'm throwing away a golden opportunity but I think I would like to be able to speak Cat fluently."

Well then you would need to have the power to transform into any animal. You could morph into a cat and then have long chats with lots of cats. :)

Would your wife know you had this ability? Because I don't think she would be too happy knowing you knew what she was thinking. We woman need to have a little mystery going on. :)

message 35: by Jed (new)

Jed (specklebang) | 109 comments I should have just stuck with shifting despite its inherent risks.

Um, no, Malia Ann, my wife would not know I had this ability, and that seems only fair since she can already read my mind.

message 39: by Yangsze (new)

Yangsze Choo | 13 comments What I think is really funny is that all of us have clearly been thinking about this choice for many years (or at least I have, since I was a kid!!) ;)

message 40: by Jed (new)

Jed (specklebang) | 109 comments It's an important decision and when the opportunity arrives I don't want to say "gee, I haven't thought about it. I'll get back to you".

Oh, so true. You don't want to end up with the wrong superpower when the chance comes along. And all because you weren't prepared.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

Looks like I picked the winner.

Teleportation is obviously the best power to have :P

message 43: by Jed (new)

Jed (specklebang) | 109 comments If you believe you have chosen the best one, I highly suggest you watch The Lost Room (http://www.amazon.com/The-Lost-Room-P...)

and then get back to me. You just might change your mind.

message 45: by Jed (new)

Evilynn | 331 comments Flight would be nice, question is if I'd like to shapeshift or just levitate. Mind reading would probably be the quickest route to divorce + friendlessness ever. ;P

message 47: by Zaina (new)

Zaina (ajakie) Probably teleportation. I'd love to get out of traffic.

message 48: by Steven (new)

Steven Jordan (stevenlylejordan) | 68 comments None of the above. The only magical power I would want would be the power of persuasion; to be able to make people do what I tell them to do! (Look out, Congress!)

message 49: by Jihaad (new)

Jihaad Albayaty | 1 comments Teleportation and if not that then flying, Since I love to travel

message 50: by Stuart (new)

Stuart (asfus) | 183 comments Telepathy, as it removes all guesswork.
