There was an Onion article from years back about a grad student's run-in with a giant cockroach, which he refers to as a "harrowing, Kafka-esque experience."

Of course, every time I've had a personal, heart-stopping clash with a roach since reading that article, I've referred to it in bombastic speech later on as a harrowing, Kafka-esque experience. :)
