What did you think of it?

message 2: by Rachelle (new)

Rachelle (mamachelle07) | 91 comments I absolutely LOVED this book! I almost didn't give it a chance because of the author (I absolutely cannot stand the Twilight series!) but I am so glad I did! I really enjoyed it, and it's definitely a book that I will reread many times. I'm really anxious to see the movie now, and see how the two compare. I hope they do it justice!

message 3: by Anna (new)

Anna | 144 comments Hmm I was fairly indifferent about it. I don't think Meyer is good at doing confrontations. I do think it might translate into a good film though if the screenwriter is good.

message 4: by Yuki (new)

Yuki | 286 comments I loved the book and hope the movie is just as good.

message 5: by April (new)

April | 236 comments I really enjoyed this book!! I love the Twilight Saga and this book was AMAZING!! In my opinion it was better than the Twilight Saga, but I really like her writing style and this novel was definitely amazing!! I loved the story line, characters, just the whole book!! I'm going to re-read it this month so that the movie makes more sense because it's been 3 years since I've read the book, but I remember LOVING it!!

message 6: by Anida (new)

Anida | 3 comments I loved it. The character were well written and I liked how the story progressed.
ps: Ian is perfect and charming and lovely.

message 7: by Kirstyn (new)

Kirstyn | 18 comments I enjoyed it. it is very fleshed out and you can see yourself in the world miss Meyer created. You feel for each character and some scenes leave you biting your nails waiting to find out what happens.

message 8: by Poppy (new)

Poppy (poppydoodler) I love this book, I've read if a few times but quite a while ago. super excited to read it again.

message 9: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (yerawizardamanda) Just recieved this book in the mail, eeep! So excited to start it!

message 10: by Ciara (new)

Ciara Knight (ciaraknight) | 4 comments I'm so excited about reading this book! My best friend told me it was so different than Twilight. I've been wanting to give it a try since the movie is coming out. I always have to read a book before I see the movie. :)
I have to finish two other books for work then I'll start this. I hope I can finish it in time. :)

message 11: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Far better than Twilight and so different! I love Melanie, she's so strong character and I love Wanda, cause she's so sweet and caring. And I love Jamie. And Ian. And Jared... I'm crazy about all of them. Very interesting. Anyone knows if there will be a sequel?

message 12: by Rachelle (new)

Rachelle (mamachelle07) | 91 comments Natalie, it's actually supposed to be a trilogy. The sequel is going to be called The Seeker if I remember right, but there's no release date yet.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

OH MY GOOD GRAVY!!! I loved this book so much...((I read it in a day!)) it is a cute story...I love the conflict of Jared vs. Ian...it is so good...AND A MOVIE!!! There is going to be a movie!!! I am so excited!!!

Poppy (poppydoodler) Rachelle wrote: "Natalie, it's actually supposed to be a trilogy. The sequel is going to be called The Seeker if I remember right, but there's no release date yet."

Really? I loved the way The Host ended, I was kind of hoping there wouldn't be a sequel, but hey ho, hopfully they'll be just as good :). Do you know when The Seeker will be published?

message 15: by Rachelle (last edited Mar 03, 2013 10:59AM) (new)

Rachelle (mamachelle07) | 91 comments I know, I'm a little worried. I really loved the ending. I really, REALLY hope it's not one of those series where it just gets worse with each book. As of now, the only info for the rest of the series is that #2 will be called The Seeker and #3 will be called The Soul, but neither of them have an expected publication date. The most updated info I can find is that she's currently working on The Seeker.

message 16: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Mullins Personally I loved the book just as a novel, I don't think it should be a series.

message 17: by Tracy (new)

Tracy Akers (tracyaakers) I think this is one of those "either you love it or you don't" books. I don't. Couldn't finish it.

message 18: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Sojkowski (nikkisoj) | 868 comments I attempted to read this, but didn't get too far before it was due back at the library, I'll read it before the movie comes out though, and then I'll go see it! Honestly so far I feel like I've been thrust Into the storyline without anything being explained as if I'm just expected to understand or 'go with the flow'

Jenny (LobsterGal) (lobstergal) I liked this book more than I thought I was going to but...the characters. It seemed like no one stuck to their original personality, a little irritating. And by god Stephanie Meyer why are none of your love interests the same age. I think that the Host's characters had the smallest age gap, still it was still like 7 years give or take. I liked that they parasites were souls. That sounded much better than parasite. I know that Meyer is writing another book but I think that she could stop here. (doesn't need to be a trilogy there were really no lose ends to tie up)

message 20: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I loved this book! I have read it multiple times! I think it gets a bad rap because it was written by Stephanie Meyer but personally I think it is far better than the Twilight series (even though I am a fan). Seriously so good. The only bad thing I have to say is that I am disappointed she didn't continue with the series. I also have a bad feeling about the movie. At first I was really excited for it, but after seeing the previews I just don't think it is going to be good. We shall see!

message 21: by Zayra (new)

Zayra | 1 comments Im Not Enjoying It Now , But Let Me Just See The Ending ? ( Hopefully Its BETTER Than Twilight ! )
^ anything is better then Twilight -.-

message 22: by Ciara (new)

Ciara Knight (ciaraknight) | 4 comments I just started reading. I'm intrigued. Not sure if it is going to keep my interest or not. We'll see. :)

hey! if you left the book before the 1st 80 pages or so..i would highly recommend giving it another try. because that's when you start getting what's going on in the story. But if you don't like it even after that..then it's okay..:)

I definitely agree, I think it is definitely one of those books, you have to get past the beginning foundation stuff and it gets so good!

message 25: by Betty Jo (new)

Betty Jo Schafer (busylady) | 39 comments I read this book when it first came out and loved it. I thought it was much better than the Twilight Saga. I'm going to re-read it again this month since the group is reading it and also so I can be prepared before the movie comes out :)

I love complicated characters. Ones that are real...that are both strong AND weak. I also love the concept of the parasites/souls and the one that inhabits Melanie's body. Things are not always black and white, right or wrong, and this plot line follows life like that. The audience and the remaining humans are conditioned to think of 'souls' as evil and this is one that proves them wrong. Great story...looking forward to re-reading it.

message 26: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 4 comments It was much better then the Twilight Saga. although Wanda is a little bit like Bella, don't you think? Both are indeed weak but yet strong characters.

I really hope Stephanie Meyer decides to write a sequel, but I don't think so :(

message 27: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina (sabrina_garcia) | 18 comments I want to read this book so badly before the movie!!!

She's slowly working on the sequel. It's called the Seeker.

WAIT ARE YOU SERIOUS!?

message 30: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) I haven't read this yet, but is this the one being released as a movie sometime soon? Because the movie looks good...

message 31: by Annemieke (new)

Annemieke (annemiekevanelst) | 12 comments I liked it a lot, you have to get used to the idea and the story, but will get better soon. Only 2 weeks and the movie will be in the cinema!

message 32: by Aliyah (new)

Aliyah | 109 comments There's a sequel, isnt there?

message 33: by April (new)

April | 236 comments @Ailya Yes. It's called The Seeker. She's currently writing it and it's taking her a while.

message 34: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina I really liked this book. It certainly surpassed Twilight on my favorites list. I must say though, Stephanie Meyer seems to put a lot of stress in the dangerous possibilities in her books, but it seem to me like she kind of skirts around any actual fighting in her books. Yes there is a little bit, but there are no large confrontations. Is it just me?

message 35: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 82 comments I hope she goes with a different title for the sequel, as Seeker has been a little overdone.

I really enjoyed The Host, and wouldn't mind reading it with the group again! Yay!!!

message 36: by Sammie (new)

Sammie (hellosam) I put off reading this book for so long because science fiction is NOT my thing! But I'm so glad I finally picked it up. I loved it. I think it was much better than the Twilight Saga, there was so much more depth to it. I'm so excited for the film to be released at the end of the month!

message 37: by Bexxy (new)

Bexxy (desperatelyseekingheas) | 58 comments I tried to read this book about 4 years ago after I read twilight. I got 2 or 3 chapters in and hated it but I've been convinced by my cousin to read as she said its amazing! Started it today and so far so good, the trailer for the movie looked really good so fingers crossed the book is!

message 38: by Elle (new)

Elle (ellemnope) I really didn't think I was going to like it. Alien abduction isn't really my cup of tea. But I COULD NOT put it down. I'm surprised at how much I loved this book.

message 39: by Anita (new)

Anita (arcticwish) this is the only Meyer book I will admit liking. it kept me interested and wanting more. I wish she'd hurry up withthat sequel and it better deliver. I'm so-so about the movie. I probably will go see it but I hope I wont be disappointed!

message 40: by Shawna (new)

Shawna | 9 comments I just finished the book! I enjoyed it so much. I resisted reading it for so long because I did not see myself as ever enjoying a book with aliens. I was so wrong. I ended up buying a 2nd copy of the book and my husband started reading it too. I was thrilled last night when I found out about a sequel.

message 41: by yusuke (new)

yusuke | 0 comments At first, they were so mean to her. Only her lil bro was nice to her and that was touching. Can't wait for the movie

Really? When is the sequel gonna come out?

message 43: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (yerawizardamanda) I'm starting this tonight. Want to read before the movie!

message 44: by Shawna (new)

Shawna | 9 comments I am not sure when the sequel will be released. Stephenie Meyer is still writing it. I saw it under her list of books on Goodreads. It says there will be a 3rd book too.

message 45: by Abby (new)

Abby I read this about four years ago and its amazing. I highly doubt there will be a sequel Phil

message 46: by Shawna (last edited Mar 18, 2013 08:58AM) (new)

Shawna | 9 comments The author confirmed it last month that there will be a sequel.

message 47: by Shayna (new)

Shayna Varadeaux (ShaeAnn77) | 116 comments I absolutely loved this book. I was so taken in by the whole of it. I love the characters and the concept. I have been keeping up with Stephanie Meyer's blog and there us a book 2 she has just had a lot going on. I am excited that it will be a movie!

There are so many parts in the book that I love! It was a Goodread! I would definitely recommend it and read it again!

message 48: by Chantelle (new)

Chantelle Nay (truelovebeliever) | 1 comments I agree. When I first saw this book I was skeptical. When I saw the movie trailer I thought I should give the book a try. It was awesome. I read it in two days. I was so involved in the story that I had a hard time putting it down. Definitely one of the best books I've ever read!

message 49: by Rebecca (last edited Mar 18, 2013 05:05PM) (new)

Rebecca | 14 comments I'm currently-reading this! I think it is interesting, but it doesn't have me completely amazed! I'm only about 200 pages in though! Also, I heard there is going to be a sequel; look at Stephanie Meyer's page.

message 50: by Tiara (new)

Tiara | 4 comments I loved this book, probably more than the twilight series. I absolutely cannot wait until she writes the second book. She said she already started it. Yay!
