I really liked the book. I was surprised that I did given I'm not a huge "alien" fan. I hope the movie is good, although the book is always better.

I loved The Host. In all honesty I didn't really like the Twilight saga and didn't think I'd like this book, however I still read it. I loved the whole idea of Wanderer and the souls. Ian was defiantly my favourite character. It was a great book, Stephanie Meyer defiantly redeemed herself in my eyes.
1) Ive always love this book! I read it a few years ago after my twilight craze and honeslty- its better. I could reread it over and over again.2)Did anyone else throw the book down after the chapter Finished? Then its got like 3 blank pages?! Yeah, I almost threw the book across the room and stopped reading it for 3 days! I just didnt want to read a story without Wanda :( Should have known better (that darn Stephenie Meyre)
and 3)I'm a little nervous about the sequels. That was one of my favorite parts about reading this- it stood alone. It's a super huge book and its one of my favorite's because I dont have anymore in the series to bring it down..coughnewmooncough... anyway so now I'm nervous about the others ruining it for me :( is it just me or does anybody else feel this way?
oh and I totally shipped Ian and Wanda the minute he took his shirt off in front of her lol. I didnt care I just wanted him to be perfect- AND HE WAS! (swoon)

Why do you think Seeker has been overdone?
I met the author at the grove and she signed my book.
I'm bout 70% through and I'm really addicted. This is truly a epic story!! I hope it ends on a good note.
I just finished re-reading this. I'm not sure how I would feel about a sequel. This book wraps everything up nicely in the end. I'm also a little weirded out that Wanda has a new body. I like how the book made it a point to show that the souls and bodies are not entirely separate. That they each influence the person as a whole. In her new host she is weaker and giggly...shy. In Melanie she was less these things.I'd like to hear more about the other group they met that has a 'soul gone native' as well. For some reason I didn't remember that from the last time I read it. I'd also like to see more interaction between Wanda and Melanie. You would think that they would be closer since they each know the other so well. Like sisters or best friends. But I didn't get that impression from the end of the book. So I guess there are some things I can see in a sequel.
I just finished it. I thought it was pretty good, but I wish there was not going to be a sequel. I thought it ended nicely.
I read this book in January. I was quiet sceptical, because Twilight is not one of my favourite books.(Who am I kidding, I hate Twilight!) and when you say sci-fi I always think of Star Wars. But the book was great and one of the best YA I have read!
Hi. I thought the book was awful. So awful I started a blog and decided to write a review about it. Haha! Here you go check it out! :Phttp://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
I just saw the movie and it was amazing!!! I can't wait to get to the actual book. I love the Twilight series and have high hopes for the Host.
I LOVED IT! This by far the best stand alone I've read in years!I never liked Twilight (the movies or the books) so I wasn't too keen- but this turned out to be amazing! So glad I stopped procrastinating and actually picked up the book! I'm definitely going to go see the movie!

Umm... not sure what you did there, but this is a link to Pride and Prejudice, not to your blog. Maybe re-post the link?
Stephanie wrote: "oh and I totally shipped Ian and Wanda the minute he took his shirt off in front of her lol. I didnt care I just wanted him to be perfect- AND HE WAS! (swoon)"SAME! :) *Sigh* I <3 Ian :)
And btw, I thought the Host was going to be a stand alone?! What is everyone talking about "the sequel"?! What's it called, when does it come out?!
*shivers* I'm so siked now
I really liked it! A little too long for my taste, but definitely worth reading! Can't wait for the movie :)

I didn't finish The Host. Not because I hated it, but because a friend invited me to the movie when I was half way done. I hated the movie and now I don't want to finish the book. I was bored, but I've spoken to several people who loved the movie after reading the book. I guess I should have waited to watch the movie.

There was a lot left out of the movie, some of my favorite parts of the book.
Rachelle,That doesn't surprise me. I hope to go back and finish the book, but it will be pushed down my pile a little.
Thanks for letting me know.
I had this book for years and I kept putting it down because it was so intimidating and big. Finally In January 2013.I picked it up. Then i got half way through and figured out there was a movie. So I finished quickly so I could watch the movie. I thought this book was amazing. The movie did it justice I think. Great actors and storyline better than twilight. Steph can write good when she wants to. The only thing I didn't like was that the book was slow to start.
I fell in love with this book from page one! The idea of Melanie being trapped inside her own body was terribly enticing. I found I was not able to pick sides for either Melanie or "Wanda." I thought the novel was evenly dispersed, there not being to much of any one topic (i.e.. romance, science fiction, violence). I cannot wait for Ms. Meyer to complete the trilogy, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to wait quite sometime.
This is one of my favourite books!!! Love it! Have lost count of how many times I've read it! The film was okay....
I really enjoyed this book. I read it before I read the twilight series. I loved the inner dialouge, and there are some really good one liners that made me laugh.
Ok I tried reading The Host and just couldn't get into it. I'm trying to watch the movie now and still unsure. I want to love it and give the book another try because I love The Twilight Saga and Stephanie Meyer's writing. Wether I end up loving or hating The Host I hope she continues to write, write, and write...
I preferred The Host to Twilight Saga. It to me was a bit more mature and the idea itself was pretty well thought out. And it wasn't so crazy bad on the whole love triangle which those are beginning to get pretty old. And the inner dialogue was great it flowed well with the actual talking mixed in. The movie on the other hand I wanted to love since I loved the book but again the movie industry has screwed over another book favorite of mine. In all honesty its getting to be the point I should just stop watching the movies after reading these amazing books. The poor authors I dunno how they sell there stories over without wanting to have almost complete control over what happens to them.
The Host, i love it!But the beginning to slight middle section of the book was sooooooooooo boring with the whole explanation and going to the destination where survivors were hiding.
i bought the book long ago, but gave up reading it for like more than 3 years. Then one day, i got bored with nothing to do, so i began reading the book again which i am really glad that i did.
i truly love Wanda and Ian!
The movie was, well, not very good. I was very bored throughout the movie and I got kind of annoyed with the voice overs, that's an essential part of the story but couldn't they have tried a different approach? Idk, seemed very low budget to me.
This book is really something. It gave me very deep emotions and it was so good that it actually made me cry. I'm not a crybaby, I don't cry on every book my fav character dies (almost every book I read...) or smthg. In the end of the book, when she's lying on that bed, talking to Mel, crying. That was it. I literally sobbed. I was so affected I can't even... It's so strange for me when people say they didn't like this book I'm just standing there like "What kind of human are you?". I love this book and I definitely will reread it.
i watched the movie first, and I thought it was terrible. it did seem low budget to me. and I tries to read the book after and I just cudnt, I didn't like it at all. idk if the was bc the movie ruined it for me or not. but I cudnt enjoy it.
I absolutely loved this book. It proved to me that Stephanie Meyer could write a good book. Not that didn't like Twilight, but it was admittedly poor writing. The Host was different. It was amazing. I have also seen the movie. OMG, what a POS! If you love the book, don't watch the movie. It will leave a really bad taste in your mouth about the story.
Have to admit I did not like this book. I just feel like Stephanie Myer is such a terrible writer. I only finished it because I hate not finishing book I've started.
I originally only picked this up because it looked like a good long read, at first i was dissapointed because it started off quite slow but it got better as it went on, i like the relationships bewtween the characters especially some of the friendships that form, i thought it was good as a stand alone so im unsure about the sequel
Well, breaking all the good comments, I actually did not like this book. It's one of the few that I didn't even finish. I got to page 100 and already put it down. And I didn't really try to finish it because it was not mine, it was a friends, so I wasn't really pressured to read. Maybe if the book had been mine I would have tried harder, but it really didn't got me. And I didn't see the movie so, I'm pretty much on the blind of what happens.
I loved the book, the idea was so weird and new it took me time to figure it out :P I hated the movie though!! Melanie/Wanda looked nothing as they should, tan skin, brown eyes and brown hair not white skin blue eyes and blond!!!! And Jared and Ian ugh
this book, oh my god. I couldn't read all the way to chapter two because my brain was hurting. Stephanie Meyer's writing style is impossible to follow. put it back on the shelf, will try again sometime.
