Hi, Isa (I think you know here from Goodreads, also in this group) and I are doing a school assignment about a book togheter and have chosen The Scorpio Races (Dodenrit in Dutch). We have to create something about the book and with that we have to explain what the author wants to tell the reader. We are going to make a film/movie. Does anyone has ideas? :-) And what wants Maggie Stiefvater to tell in The Scorpio Races?
I've once read an intervieuw with Maggie about the book, I would search intervieuws like those if I were you. I do have a vieuw of what that book meant, but so did everybody else. I think it has something to with the fact that Puck fought with her pony against big, hardened man on strong waterhorses and won. Love played a role but I don't think it's the main point of the story. This is just my intepretation so I might be verrry wrong (=
to make my point clearer. I think the book means that you must always fight against the odds, no matter how small they are. Like, Pucks changer were really really reaaaally small

and hey guys I hope you do well in your trailer too! In my opinion, The Scorpio Races is about finding where you belong and taking risks,even if it means going against everything you've been brought up with to try and find your place. I also like how it references Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream from the name Puck and the Island called Thisby and the magic and the celebration festivals on a certain night. :D

I've converted my friend to TRC! I had a spare copy of The Raven Boys (from when I judged some book awards and received a copy, but already owned it) that had been sitting on my shelf for a year and a half, so I decided to give it to her after we fangirled about books a few times. And she loves it! I'm quite proud of my efforts.

Hehe I was so excited when she came to me and said she was loving it... last I saw her she hadn't finished it, so I don't know if she's gotten a copy of The Dream Thieves or Blue Lily, Lily Blue yet (if not I know what her birthday present'll be...) but it's going to be nice to have a buddy to share in the emotions. :)
