Jill Sanders (jillmsanders) | 17 comments It caught my attention! I LOVE purple though.. It's my favorite color. I love the flowers.

Here are all of mine. It's a four part contemporary romance series. The first 2 are released, the next two are soon to be released.

Hi Jill!

Thanks for you comment on my cover.
Finding Pride Cover: I love your first cover. I have a statue just like that one that was given to me for personal reasons close to my heart. So for me, I would definitely click on it.

Discovering Pride: is lovely. Simple and beautiful :)

Returning Pride: While it is interesting as a stand alone, it seems to interrupt the flow of the series? The others seem to incorporate nature and are bright but that one is darker and the focus is the figure. I do like it though...

Lasting Pride: It flows great with the other books and is a beautiful scenic photograph. I really like it. My vote is I would click to see more :)

Beth Rinyu | 10 comments Jill, I really like your covers. I know a lot people prefer Romance novels to have the shirtless sexy man on them. But I prefer something that lets you use your own imagination! I think your covers allow the reader to do just that.

Thanks Beth! I created this discussion because I was thinking about revamping my cover. I had a few people suggest that since my audience is YA, teen readers specifically, that I might want to consider putting a hot guy or beautiful heroine on the cover? I guess it makes Teens want to click on it.

This is an experiment to see what makes readers click on a cover. Thanks so much for you wonderful comments. I'm a fan of purple too :)

Beth Rinyu | 10 comments Okay, here are my two covers. The cover for The Exception to the Rule was not liked in many of my reviews. So I went against my rule and went with the cute guy on the front of my upcoming novel an Unplanned Lesson...but hey,at least he's not shirtless! Yes for teens I would definitely say go with the hot guy! Even though I absolutely love that cover! In some of my review for my first novel people told me they hated the cover. I'm still trying to decide if I want to update it.

Hi Beth,

Nice cover. Who doesn't love a peaceful walk along the ocean :)

Unplanned Lesson: First of all bravo for title and your cover is perfectly fitting. It has all of the elements that made me create this group...Hot Guy & Beautiful Girl! It looks steamy and that I believe makes a lot of people click on it. Great job :)

Thank you :) I'm actually doing this to see if I should revamp my cover. Thanks for cluing me into what your friends often click on! I am so curious to see what people really like. I hope we get some visits from the teen & YA crowd here on GR too so we can really test that theory.

I absolutely love the cover and I think it would be fine if your were targeting the adult romance genre. But once you said teens....that's what made me think...add the hot guy...lol!

Debra Ann Miller | 20 comments Mod
Too funny but I think true! Do you think a beautiful girl would do the trick too? Just curious...

Jill Sanders (jillmsanders) | 17 comments Hi Beth,

The Exception to the Rule -
The cover sets it aside enough for me to click on it. I love the simplicity and it leaves me wanting to know the story.

An Unplanned Lesson -
I think it's a great cover for the story. Yes, I want to read it.

Great job!

Jill Sanders (jillmsanders) | 17 comments Hi Debra,

Yes the 3rd is a little darker, I wanted Iian's story to stand out since he is deaf and has a strong story darker story about his past. But, with a happy ending. I tried other scenes for this cover and to be honest kept coming back to him. :) Thanks for your input. It helps.

So after thinking about it and hearing your input.. I posted my top two choices for the cover of my next book to be released, Returning Pride on my blog.

Take a minute to look & vote for your favorite.

Thanks!

I voted for option 2! I love, love, love the color scheme. That cover literally leaped out at me immediately and I also think it really flows nicely with the Pride Series. It will be interesting to see what others think too!

So to recap...for me...it's #2!

Debra :)

I voted for option 2 as well ;)

Angel Lepire | 5 comments OK, I'm not going to specifically reply to any of these or I'll have a long post full of italics! ;-) So here's my breakdown...

Debra: I really love the cover of Descended. The purple is great, but also the outline of the Devil's Tower and the way the feathers turn into flowers. It's all very in keeping with the story and beautiful as well!

Jill: I voted for cover #2 w/the boat. Beautiful light both from the sky & reflecting on the water in that one! I didn't dislike the first option, but I agree w/Debra that it is a little different from the others. Love all the nature depicted on your covers!

Beth: I like the way your cover of An Unplanned Lesson ties the story to the title through the play on words and the use of the “chalkboard” font (for lack of a better term.) All very eye-catching and clever. I love it! The Exception to the Rule is perfectly fine, but I’ll give you my honest first impression. Any book that has what looks like a photograph on the cover makes me think ‘non-fiction’ or ‘self-help.’ Again, nothing wrong with it, but that’s just my initial thought when I see it, for what it’s worth.

Angel Lepire | 5 comments And so I would love to get your opinions of my cover as well. I was at the end of a divorce when I was finishing my book, and my ex-BIL, who was supposed to be designing my cover backed out for no reason. Which was kind of funny, because my ex-husband and I are still best friends and in fact still live in the same house. So there was no ill-will. Just a weird situation I guess. So anyway, I ended up doing it myself. I'm happy with it, but I'm curious about what it would have looked like if I had been able to hire a professional.

I love the cracked cover look. It seems almost symbolic, a shattered life, which is very fitting to Jori's. The pier adds depth making me feel like I could walk down it. I like it, it meshes well for me :) Nice job...

Angel Lepire | 5 comments You know Jill, I don't even know what kind of font that is. It's not the one I sent to the publisher, although they also had me send a blank cover, so I guess they just used their own. It's kind of similar to my original, and honestly I think it's better, which I guess means it could have been worse. ;-) I will say I'm not happy with the way my name all seems to run together. Maybe it should have been a little smaller? Well let's hope we all sell a million books and when our next big novel comes out our publishing houses can have their best graphics people worrying about this kind of thing!

Hi All!

I decided to revamp the cover for "Descended" based on your comments and my own personal thoughts. It's really kind of an experiment for me. It will be interesting to see if there will be any change in sales. I'm putting the theory of "beautiful girl" to the test! I would love to hear your thoughts about the new cover design.

Okay so I couldn't figure out how to post my image but this link will take you there.
