I really love this book.
I'm still sad that she didn't finish the third book. My fifth grade teacher was her husband, we had lots of fun in his class!!!!!!

This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is so, so creative and different than other books in that genre. I am currently reading the second book again.. I hope that she makes the third book soon.

Firstly id like to thank Debra Ann Miller for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review

I think the cover is absolutely stunning. I would have given the book 3 1/2 stars if I could have only because I had a little trouble getting into the first few chapters of the book I'm glad I persisted because I found myself engrossed and not wanting to put it down. I suppose that is because I am a sucker for soul mates and love concurring all. Definitely worth reading. One body, two souls.

The Guardians were an elite group of angels who have devoted their entire existence to protecting the Gates of Heaven and the world below. This is a unique story about fate, relationships, and the struggle between good and evil.

I have to admit I had a problem buying into Vivian’s medical condition, it seemed to be a little extreme considering she had brain surgery and managed to keep all of her hair. I suppose it is possible, I decided to just go with it because there was a higher power at work

This was such a very heart-warming story. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside while at the same time keeping you quite intrigued. Miller has mastered the art of suspenseful narrative. She provides all information necessary for the advancement of the story, while keeping back just enough to keep the reader intrigued. Rather than just plonking all of the information down in one long narrative, she feeds it to us bit by bit.

The story itself is also fairly well written. The descriptions are

I thoroughly enjoyed the story in this book. Though I'm not much of a romance reader, I found the characters engaging and really wanted to see how things came out for them. While I know there is a sequel to this story (possibly to be more than 1?), I did find myself wondering if there was a book before Descended? It seemed like there was back story eluded to in here that I felt like I was missing. Maybe it was just to be left to the reader's imagination, but I would be interested to know what ha ...more

A few reviews posted on Amazon by readers for "Descended": Great! I loved it!! I was so happy to see a sequel out. I can't wait to read the next book. The first book I couldn't put it down, I was drawn into the characters lives and wanted more...the love story, the twist, and good vs evil...loved it!!!

Mesmerizing! My girl friends and I all thought this book was absolutely mesmerizing and we couldn't put this book down. The writing of these characters made us root for them. We were kept guessing

This is the first book in the Fallen Guardian Saga. Violet is a guardian and is finally getting her first assignment. She needs to merge with a human girl named Vivian Thorne. Her assignment is to find Carter Stone and help him realize his destiny. He is the chosen one and she has one year to complete the task. With the help of her best friend, Gabriel and the other members of her team she is excited to finally have a chance to prove herself.

I received this book to read for a review. I had high hopes, as the book description really captivated me. Although I felt it lost a bit of the paranormal romance someplace and just went to romance and in the end found the paranormal again....I loved the ending of the book and curious as to where to story is heading.

I know we werent to be cheering for Gabriel to be the love interest, but I LOVED the character and found myself rooting for him and not the intended love interest of Carter Stone. I

Descended was a good start to the Fallen Guardian series. The synopsis is very accurate in its description as we join Violet & Carter on their journey of discovery, discovery of love, of life and of potential, two souls made for each other and needing each other to realise their own destiny. The book was filled with likable characters, especially Vie & Carter, they were made for each other and that was put across quite well. I can

'Descended' is a brilliant debut novel by Ms Ann Miller and it is such an enjoyable, lovable and thrilling read, much different to the usual angel novels out there in the YA genre. The writing is brilliant and keeps you turning the pages, I can't wait for more of Ms Ann Miller's work!

Violet is sent to Earth by the Guardian Angel's to complete a mission. Her mission is to get as close as possible to human boy, Carter whilst in her human vessel. For reasons unknown to her the mission is very impor

The Guardians is a book about a divine group created by God (?) that goes on missions to protect the world and heaven from evil...I think. Violet is a guardian with Gabriel sent to earth on a mission to guide the chosen one without interfering with free will. It was actually an interesting story. A little on the religious side but not pushing any particular one. Well it seems Christian maybe, based on the names but it wasn't like overly in any direction. Basically God has a plan and we (and the ...more
Thank you, Ms. Miller for providing me a copy in exchange for a review.

I was a bit skeptical in the beginning. First impressions do count but despite the ratings, the premise did sound intriguing. I like the little summary Goodreads provided so I gave the book a chance. And wow. I was surprised once I finished the book.

The beginning of the book started off a bit rocky for me and I guess it seemed a little too enthusiastic. Vie is a great character, but she was too overbearing in the beginning. O

Despite being a self proclaimed non-fan of YA, "Descended" is a teenage paranormal romance fanatic's wet dream. [Can I say that in a YA review?! argh.]
While the story started a little slow, the plot is a great mixture of loyalty, betrayals and secrets with a solid dose of angels and demons. Violet or Vie is a Guardian which is similar to angel and in angel land these Guardians go on missions. They take over a "ho

So... I started reading this novel feeling a little lost. Let me be honest, it had been a while since I read the blurb and I had no clue what I was getting myself into. Well that being said, the preface drew me and was a total distraction once chapter one started. It was a kind of over-anxious attempt to complete a puzzle while only having one piece. Make sense? I was in over my head. I managed to maintain this sense of confusion for the first couple of chapters...

Then I completely fell in love

Descended was a nice romantic fantasy that is easy to get into from the first chapter. You meet the main character, Violet, who is on a mission (that she adamantly wanted), as a Guardian Angel to help prepare the savior of their world against the devil and all that comes with it. But how can she do that without directly showing him his destiny and interfering, which is directly against the rules?

This is Violet’s first mission, and though she is not sure what to expect, she goes into it with an o
I tried really hard to enjoy this but it just didn't happen. Apparently angel books are not my cup of tea. :(
Descended starts off slowly and there isn't much action until the last forty pages or so. I didn't connect with any of the characters whatsoever. The main character Violet's personality flip flopped from dogging someone to find out something or hurting someone and then the next thing ya know, she was trying to console someone after upsetting or hurting them so I didn't like her at all. I was given a free copy to read for an honest review.

The story moves very fast, not really giving the reader time to invest in the characters. However, I did enjoy the story. It was different and as I read, I found that I wanted to know more. That is always a good trait for a book to have. The writing is different from a lot of YA books whereas it is ‘all knowing’. In other words, the POV bounces around to just about all the characters without warning.

The romance at times seemed a bit forced, b

Violet is a young, inexperienced Guardian looking to prove herself. She’s sent to earth in the body of Vivian, a cancer stricken teen girl. With her mentor Gabriel guiding and watching over her, Violet has a year to complete her mission– getting Carter Stone to realize his destiny and keeping both him and the world safe from evil. With forbidden love, deals with the devil, romance, and high school, Vie has quite the year ahead of her.

The narrative is told in third person pov, which I have a pref

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Violet and Gabriel are guardians sent to earth to accomplish their mission: Get close to the "Chosen One" and help him find his strength.

The main protagonist, Vie, is a guardian, who has to live in the body of another girl, Vivian, in order to get close to the "Chosen One". She is a strong and beautiful girl. In fact I think she is a little bit idealized, but I'm not bothered by it. I love her, too. The way she acts shows that she has great

*sigh* I tried but I just can't finish this book. The preface got me interested and during the first few pages I had high hopes but as I go along it just went downhill for me.
The writing was awful and not believable. I don't like the characters especially the protagonist, dang she's flipping annoying! She was supposedly this clueless uber beautiful, talented and kind girl but as I read along she just confuses the hell out of me! Especially in the scene where she was when given the chance to make

Not a 5 only because the editing needs to be looked over again -- punctuation problems (quotations mostly) and a few typos were like speed bumps as I was reading along. The story itself was excellent! Violet is sent down from "The Gates" on a mission that some Guardians don't think she's quite ready for. She inhabits the body/vessel of Vivian, who is waking after having had brain surgery for her brain cancer. Gabriel is Violet's (a/k/a Vie)mentor and is sent down to help her with the mission and ...more

I liked this book a lot! I found all of the characters really came into their own. Violet on her first mission as a guardian angel is out to prove herself and that she can lead Carter safely to his destiny was a really great story-line.

I found it very suspenseful with a touch of romance and older ties that are binding for our heroine Violet. She is in a body of Vivian and takes on her appearance as well. Violet's guardian Gabriel, guides and defends her actions as she makes choices other guardia

I felt like there were two parts to this book, just as there were two parts to Vie. First of all, there was the YA romance part and then there was the fantasy/angel part. Vie descends into the vessel of Vivian, a soul sent to look for Carter Stone. Vivian is suppressed and therefore, her relationships with her boyfriend, friends, and dad change. She does occasionally break through, which causes some conflict.

Vie is a very strong character and is a nice person. Although she hurts people unintent

I started reading this book not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised with the concept of the Fallen Guardian Saga. I found the story to be interesting with a new spin of the paranormal. I couldn't help but to keep guessing what would be the faith of the characters and I can honestly say I was surprised by the turn of events for Vie and Carter. And for Gabriel? without giving too much away, I can't help but root for the guy... I truly hope he gets a fantastic happy end too.

Sadly no

This novel and I didn't get along too well. The way the characters kept pushing their beliefs and style of life onto everyone bothered me quite a bit. Vie/Vivian/Violet and Gabe/Gabriel did this a bit too much for my liking. I know they are Guardian Angels and all that but what does it really matter if some people don't believe in them or God. (who they seem to have never actually met) Their personalities weren't very distinct either and the dialogue kind of blended together to me at parts. Some ...more

This book is about Vie and Gabriel who are Guardians. They are sent to Earth on a mission. This is Vie's first time as a guardian & her assignment is more of a challenge than she imagined. I do not want to include spoilers so I am leaving this a very general description. I felt the concept of this story was very unique and the characters were easily connected to. The love story is touching and you find yourself hoping they all find happiness. This is a YA novel and the second one in the series i ...more
