I say it was weird. lol. But I like weird stuff. It was a bit creepy as well.

I will definitely read it. I just haven't got around to it yet cause its so long.

no need to apologize danell- although we do miss you :)
glad you'll be joining us for the next one.

i had a love/hate thing with the book under the dome but i'm really looking forward to the tv show- i think with some editing the show is going to be great.

looking forward to talking about the show with all of you this summer!

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Because I am stuck in the house all day today, I have decided to finish, The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger by Stephen King. I know for sure it completes another E-A-R-T-H challenge but I dont think this one is horror or at least I haven't come across anything yet.

I haven't read 11/22/63 yet either. I would like to read it because time travel and alternate realities always interest me :-) The length of the novel is what continues to hold me back.

I read Under The Dome and I would be interested in watching the show although I don't have cable, but I would be interested to see it :-)

message 156: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments hey dc- how's the new place and the chocolate factory? I def recommend you read 11/22/63 when you get a chance- it's a great story and the time travel aspect is very cool in this book- I think you'll like it- its not short but it's not boring (and it's about 300 pages shorter than under the dome lol)

I hope you can catch under the dome- the previews look really good- it's going to be on cbs so hopefully you'll be able to watch it online :)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Just finished The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger by Stephen King. It counts as E-A-R-T-H and horror... at least according to goodreads. I really didn't think it was Horror at all but an epic western fantasy. I guess because the mutants it might have been horror... then again I find most horror books to be more actiony that horror. It is my first Stephen King book I finished and one awesome book, I highly recommend it! =D

I am reading its sequel now, The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of Three.

Hey Dustin! Nice to hear from you. You must be busy.

Under the Dome is being broadcast by CBS so you won't need cable to watch it. You should be able to watch it online fairly quickly.

Christine | 798 comments After reading, cooking is my next favorite thing to do. I just finished
The School of Essential Ingredients
It goes toward the main character works with food. This book reminds you to slow down and savor what you love.

message 161: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments thanks for the update Christine! I don't like to cook but I find that I do like when food is worked into a story- didn't the class in that book cook pumpkin ravioli for the holidays or am I confusing my books?

One thing I definitely do remember is that book made me hungry lol

message 162: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments yes, that is the book with the pumpkin ravioli. A little later in the book there was a tiramisu that sounded pretty tasty too.

message 163: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments thanks Christine :)

(I still want to try that pumpkin ravioli lol)

message 164: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments Another book to check off my list: Fifty Shades Freed

The title has E-A-R-T-H in it.

message 165: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments thanks for the update Christine!

message 166: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I just finished The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake
It obviously has a food item in the title. I don't recommend this book. It was so sad and strange.

message 167: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments thanks for the update Christine- I was actually thinking of reading that soon-I love books with magical realism
but i'm sick of depressing books so I will definitely hold off on that one or maybe just skip it altogether- thanks for the info

message 168: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments There wasn't enough magic in it for me!

I like the cover of this book. It looks very summery. Did you like it?

message 171: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments I thought it was a great story- a blend of mystery & southern fiction- I gave it 4 stars.

message 172: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I will see if my library has it. Thanks for the recommendation

message 173: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Just finished Night Chills by Dean Koontz. Its another book that is classified as horror on here, but I would call it a scientific thriller. So I guess it counts if you go off genres on here. Its a great book, I highly recommend it.

I am starting a book I just received in the mail that was imported from the UK called Lady of the Shades by Darren Shan. It's a ghost story that to my knowledge is horror.

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I am finished with this challenge, I read 8 books for it. Would have read more if I didn't move in March. With that said, I cannot wait for summer's Challenge!!!! I have been writing a story here recently, thats why I haven't had any updates for almost two weeks. I've been dedicated to the story.

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Rachel wrote: "thanks for the update josh! good luck with your story :D"

Thanks! I hope to have it finished in within a week to two tops. Its a short story and I am already halfway through the second draft. Once I am finished with it, I would love to try to get it published but I am not sure how to go about doing that.

I am probably going to finish another book before this challenge is over. So I have one last book to count before its over. I am quickly reading the end of the book I have been reading for the past two weeks. XD

message 182: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments josh

i'm not sure how to get it published but there are many writers on gr so i'm sure someone on gr will be able to help you with that :)

message 183: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Okay, I finished a book. Lady of the Shades. Its a ghost story with elements of horror, thriller, mystery, and love. A crazy mix of genres but its a great mix and a great story. Left me floored. lol.

message 184: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I finished the last book of my challenge, An Irish Country Doctor. Obviously its about a doctor. It was a nice read, very similar to the James Herriot books from a while ago.

message 185: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3525 comments thanks for the updates Josh & Christine :D
