I thought you could help me here. I have read a romantic novel 7 years ago and liked it a lot.I want to read it again, but I cannot remember the title. It is a love story in which the a boy and girl who are students of the same class always fight in class and fall in love... become professors and marry. The lady dies in the end and the Man shoots himself .. There is also something in the book that keeps saying.. And the legend goes that they were never apart from each other for more than 20 minutes...

I am desperately trying to remember which book this is. Can you help?

This sounds like a Jeffrey Archer short story I read ages ago. They argue over finishing the Times crossword at one point.
