My cat Ginger is the only cat I have ever known who will curve her tail over her back instead of just putting it up while being petted. She sometimes does this when I am petting and scratching her back, rump and tail. Her tail even occasionally touches the back of her head! I am curious to know if anyone else has ever known another cat who does this.

Of course, it got "Simon" a lot of attention as everyone had to see his 'squirrel tail.' It also got him out of his cage, roaming the office as the new mascot. He looked like a miniature black panther--and went to a great forever-home.
Oh how cute! I was checking out your blog Amy. They are adorable.
My sister has a Manx cat. They are on the other end with no tail or a very short tail. They also have longer legs in the back and short in front and sorta walk like a bunny would. I will have to take a picture of it next time I visit her. I used to have a couple along time ago before I was allergic to cats.

My sister in law has always been allergic to cats...until a stray wandered up and voila! a miracle, she's not any longer. *s* Oh, there's a product called AllerpetC (C for "cat") that can help with cat allergies.

I call my cat's curved tail a squirrel tail as well.

Those tails sure are curled. Ginger doesn't curl her tail, but she sure does curve it when a scratch feels really good

Yes, we have a stray cat we call Toby. We nickname him "scorpion cat", because like your cat -- his tail curls over his back. Very strange. Yes, the tip of his tail sometimes touches the back of his head. When he was lost a few weeks ago we thought about putting up signs in the neighborhood. How many cats could I neighbor see that have a similar trait -- none, I say. It's a dead ringer for anyone wondering if he was the lost cat. He also eats like crazy but never gains any weight.
