Emotonal Reads | 164 comments It depends on how raunchy it is. I'm not really into that kind of show, I do thank you for warning me about it.

About, Into The Badlands, I freaking love that show. I was so worried that they wouldn't have a second season. It is right up my alley because I'm mainly into BW/ and other race pairings, though I'd give any pairing a chance.

It is a little complicated right now, as you say, but I hope they reunite soon and all goes well. I will really be pissed if the producers decide not to put them back together and come up with some bull to justify that decision or, sticks her with that crazy fool
she is stuck with right now fearing for her and her baby's life.

I swear they better not pull that crap.

Anyway, could you tell me just how raunchy/risque that show is?
Thanks:)
Kai

In Chewing gum, the main character, Tracey, grew up in a rigidly religious household but she isn't really religious. She's a virgin and really wants to have sex. The first season is about her trying to lose her virginity.

There is cringe humor, lots of frank sex talk, there are quite a few scenes of people having sex, there is a scene with a erotic toys party.

S2 features one of the most explicit episodes of the whole series, that takes place in a sex club. Lots of public and open sex on display.

I binged S2 in one night and it was good, felt like it explored a few more serious themes than S1. There is a really funny (but really fucked up episode) about a white guy who seriously fetishizes black women and is a bit of a black culture vampire. It was an interesting take on the theme, done very comedically.

Emotonal Reads | 164 comments Justine, I do watch The Good Fight and Expanse and like them both.

Well, I have to say, Chewing Gum, is not for me. I hate gratuitous sex and it sounds like the main theme of the show, I don't mind the sex talk, within reason but the sex all over the place would make me roll my eyes, cringe alot. so yeah, I'll pass.

I don't even read erotic, sexually explicit books, because it says nothing, gives me a headache, makes no sense and boor me. you know some people try to call that being a prude because I have no interest in reading about or watching people having and if that's the case, I wear that mantle proudly.

We are all different people who enjoy different things, life would be so boring if we all were the same.

Thank you for all your recommendations though, It's truly, truly appreciated.

Kai:)

They're usually the parts I skip/fast forward for the sheer lack of substance and overall importance to the general plot. There was just something different about CG for me idk. lol glad you gave it a go and weened it out. Hope you enjoy the other shows mentioned.

Emotonal,

It's not on now, but there used to be a show on Syfy called Eureka. The show went for about 5 seasons or so.
The leads Colin Ferguson and Salli Richardson were in an IR that happened in the last two seasons, but you could see that Colin had a thing for her from the very first moment he met her. Unlike Scandal or other shows, once they became a couple, they stayed a couple, got married and became a family.
It's quirky with lots of science stuff, but a fun watch.

You may be able to get it from Netflix or purchase the DVDs.

Zee Monodee (zee_monodee) | 45 comments Just thought I'd mention that this season of Chicago Med (season 2, just ended) has had a BWWM couple - surgeon Connor Rhodes (played by Colin Donnell) has been in a relationship with epidemiologist Robyn Charles (played by Mekia Cox).
And Season 3 also seems to have the pair going on, as well as a Black Woman Asian Man pairing - nurse April Sexton (played by Yaya DaCosta) shared a kiss with chief resident Ethan Choi (played by Brain Tee) in the season finale.

I'm with you! Just so glad they didn't write Robyn off with mental illness. I'm curious to see how that South African doctor will try to be a home wrecker between her and Connor next season now.
April had a tough go this season and it's nice to see her with a good guy like Ethan

And LOL, yes, in case it's not obvious yet, I am gaga about this show! :)

Yeah, I read that it was being shopped around as well. I really want this series to be picked up cause Sasil baby needs to happen. And that end with Hasil was a really good cliffhanger. They really dropped the ball by cancelling Outsiders.

Agreed!

And y'know Sasil is only half the reason I watched this show. They were the reason I started watching Outsiders as I kept seeing their vids pop up on YT when watching Richonne (TWD) vids, but I must admit that the whole concept of off-the-grid mountain folk and a major enviromental fight is what really kept me glued.

Seems that this channel has a problem with cancelling their original shows as I've heard that Underground has also been cancelled, as has Salem.

F**kwits.

Herekittykitty wrote: "K.M. wrote: "Yeah, I read that it was being shopped around as well. I really want this series to be picked up cause Sasil baby needs to happen. And that end with Hasil was a really good cliffhanger..."

Honestly Sasil is 100% the reason I watched Outsiders. I found out about Sasil cause I was watching one of those IR tv couples vid on youtube and all I saw was this rugged tattooed man and this sweet, innocent looking girl and I had to find out what show they were on.

I didn't even know those other two shows were cancelled. I admittedly watched Outsiders online so I never followed up on their other original shows. I only ever saw the trailers for Salem and Underground and they both looked decent.

I'm pretty sure it was a money issue with the network that caused them to cancel those shows, which is sad cause they had a good bit of viewers and fans and Sasil was like social media royalty.

Sarah G. (thesarahg) | 77 comments Rant coming. But is anyone else highly miffed about the cancellation of "Still Star-Crossed" ?! I was really looking forward to all the Rosaline/Benvolio/Escalus and Livia/Paris action.

It's super depressing :( This year has been rough for me with a lot of my favs getting the axe. I really was enjoying the show. The costuming was gorgeous, acting was top notch, and I really enjoyed the casting. I am a huge fan of historical dramas and it was nice to have one that included people of color...that didn't have to do with slavery for once. Here's to hoping that hulu or netflix picks it up.

TinaNoir | 1456 comments Came across a movie on Netflix called War on Everyone. Alexander Skarsgard and Tessa Thompson are a couple in it. It was surprisingly funny for a movie about dirty cops.

Speaking of Skarsgard reminds me of Big Little Lies on HBO. It is excellent. Zoe Kravitz has a fairly significant supporting role and is in an IR marriage in it.

Finally Dear White People (the series) on Netflix is fantastic! So funny and smart. Also the main character Sam is in an IR relationship that is a major plot point.

DeeReads (cricket011) | 3226 comments Thanks Tina for recommending War on Everyone, It was a dark, corrupt cop movie but hilarious too. I am such a fan of Alexander Skarsgard after reading Liane Moriarty's Pretty Big Lies and watching the limited HBO series under the same title. Of course one can't forget Skarsgard as the broody vampire, Eric Northman in True Blood.

Tina:

Thanks for sharing. I'll add this movie to my Netflix queue. As for Big Little Lies I saw all five actresses during the Emmys and was happy to see Zoe, but I later saw the show poster that didn't include Zoe so I thought her part was very small. I'll definitely check it out now.

I only watched the first episode (so far) of Dear White People and my favorite quote from the show ... "Is she Rashida Jones Black or Tracee Ellis Ross Black"? ☺

Magali | 9 comments I was almost ready to quit Riverdale until a couple episodes ago where it became clear they were about to set up an Asian Man/Black Woman pairing in Josie McCoy (as in Josie and the Pussycats, and played by Ashleigh Murray) and Reggie Mantle (played by Charles Melton).

They've only had a couple of scenes so far, but hot damn.

There's also another potential Black Woman/White Man pairing in Toni Topaz and Jughead Jones, but the fandom is too crazy to let it prosper so I doubt it'll go anywhere.

Yes, Tina! Hallmark is well known for using African- American actors as fillers or should I say sidekick, best friend or just a quick walk by character. Lifetime is trying to add diversity but they tend to fall right back in the same trap.

If you aren't familiar with Black Mirror it is a futuristic Sci Fi anthology series where the episodes all have sort of twist to them. Most of them are a little dark but two Hang The DJ is romantic. As is another episode from season 3 called 'San Junipero' which features an IR lesbian couple.

I've watched the first episode and I find it quite boring. I understand the concept and the whole resurrection (well more like installing your soul into new body-thing) but the starting story is too slow for me and I find it difficult to keep up with the sad (but not so sad story) about the hero's background
