Numbers is pretty good.
Arch I'm watching Psych right now, where Gus' old college singing group is on. Kenan is on there. I love him. He cracks me up. I'd date him just because he's cuddly cute and has a great sense of humor. This is a funny, funny episode. I like how the opening credits have acapella singing (I think it's Boyz to Men).

That was a good episode. Yes that's Boyz II Men signing the theme song. I didn't know, until today. I thought it was Gus and his college buddies.

Sam and Mercedes from glee (TWICE)
Arthur and Guinevere from Merlin
Matt and Alesha from Law and Order UK(although it was only flirting, the potential was frigging there!)
Danny and Lacey from Twisted
Fitz and Olivia Pope from Scandal

Gwen and Arthur was a fabulous couple, I still watch reruns, but not the last episodes. I miss them and Merlin, Gaius and all the knights.
I think I'll watch some reruns tonight. :)

but Arwen though! LOVED THEM!! Angel Coulby(Gwen) has been doing amazing work all over British Television. Bradley (Arthur) however can't be bothered to get out of bed LOL
Tamara wrote: "I'm still not over his death,Rae!! oh God I'm tearing up just thinking about it LOL. did you ever watch BBC's Merlin?"
Wait what?! He died?! Nuuuuuu! That sucks. :-( I wondered why they switched up the cast. Sigh. First nuBSG and now Law and Order UK. :-( IR and Jamie Bamber just keeps ending in tragedy lol
I haven't seen Merlin. I was disappointed to hear they made Guinevere a maidservant after the awesome turn of making her a POC and plus some of the rabid fans killed it for me. I may pick it up later though.

And Guinevere was only a maidservant to show that Arthur had to learn from ground up how to be a just and wise king/ and man. Befriending helped him become a better man and they needed to show that in the simplest terms because it was a family drama and would be easier to grasp for all ages.
I would definitely rewatch that show(for the 8th time)lol! and I would recommend it to you, Rae!

I wished Merlin would have confessed too, it could have ended so differently, but no, they wait until the last moment, I heard. He could have done away with Morgana sooner and have them go on to other enemies. Love should have conquered all, how dare they end it that. Damn, I'm misting up.
I hated Morgana so much, I wanted to kill her myself. UGH!!!
Bradley always seemed to be the, whatever type, you know, easy going. He certainly backed up angel against crazy fans.
Rae, that's how the books were, Gwen was a maid, Morgana's personal maid, before she went all evil, and author fell in love with her and eventually married her. The difference from book is they made Gwen black. she might have been a maid, but she was a maid with power when Arthur took the throne. She always had his ear, he trusted her over everyone and took her advice seriously. Believe me it was done tastefully.
don't pay attention to those crazy fans, most wished Arthur ended up up with crazy Morgana.
ARWEN FOREVER!!! Yeah baby, Love them!!!
Tamarra, i haven't watched the last 4 either, I think. I know I stopped at the one where they took Gwen to the lake to remove Evil Morgana's curse.

Most of the crazy fans wanted Arthur to end up with Merlin!!! those where the worst fans because they hated the female characters for even existing. Especially Gwen.
Bradley stood up for her against the fans?? So glad to hear that!
Check out Angel in a show called The Tunnel and a mini series about the black jazz era in England starring Chiwetel Eljiafor (I mispelled his name something awful) called Dancing on the Edge. Angel was the lead singer!

That was bogus, not allowing Merlin to show his full potential, being the most badass powerful wizard that ever lived. They short changed him big time.
Oh yeah, they did want Merlin and Author together, I remember being on a site that loved arwen, they had to tell those crazies not to bring that to their site. they were really out there. Now those were some beyond crazy fans!!
I definitely have to check those shows out. I have heard of Dancing On The Edge. Does it show in the US?
Thanks:)

How true this is! This happened to so many of my fave bwwm couples. The ones you mentioned, yup, and Dee and Lee in nuBSG (hehe rhymie), Evangeline and Todd/John in One Live to Life, Teyla and Shepard in Stargate Atlantis, Whitney and Fox in Passions, etc. So annoying. The fanatics really lived up to their name! Lol
Thanks for the recs though! Seeing the discussion here has made me want to check it out. :-)
Kai, you've convinced me as well. Including with the maid thing. I didn't realize it was like that in the books and I like the way you describe her position. :-)
I heard about the Arthur and Merlin fangirls. Talk about crazy indeed! I was outside of fandom and heard about that craziness and how much they hated the female characters. Nuts! Sometimes I think guy characters can't merely be friends anymore without crazy fangirls wanting to make something out of nothing (kind of like what I hear is going on in the Supernatural fanbase. Yikes)
Btw, if you guys are a fan of Being Human UK (that show is pure epicness until season 5), there is a movie with a connection to that show and Merlin which also features an IR relationship. It's called Fast Girls starring Lenora Crichlow who plays Annie on BHUK and it's such an awesome and wonderful inspirational movie. If you have any young female family members, believe me, they would LOVE this movie! Bradley plays the love interest in it. LOVE this movie so much!
I need to hunt down Dancing On the Edge myself. I've been meaning to catch that.

Book? Is there a novelization that has Gwen as a maid? Because in Arthurian Legend and probably the most widely sourced material for it, Le Morte d'Arthur: King Arthur and the Legends of the Round Table Guinevere is the daughter of King Leodegrance. The Round Table of legend was actually part of her dowry that she brought to her marriage to Arthur.
It always frustrated me that fangirls were so upset that Gwen was black, because "it isn't realistic" (but talking dragons are ok) and "it isn't canon". But Merlin being a young servant isn't canon either. He was always older and acted as something of a mentor. And Arthur not knowing about Merlin's magic isn't canon either. Merlin was very much an "out wizard."
I hated the final season of Merlin so much. It felt like the producers caved to the fangirls because even though Gwen and Arthur were finally married, they were never really allowed to show affection or even act like they enjoyed being married to each other.

In the new Shonda Rhimes show coming this fall, 'How To Get Away With Murder' (which looks really good, btw) Viola Davis' character is in an IR marriage.

I'm glad they changed it to maidservant because it showed how she grew as well how that changed Arthur. If they kept it like the legend, it would have been nice too but then the subtle changes would have been lost on the not so keen viewers (ie children and etc) It was so refreshing having a black Gwen. It was about damn time! Dragons and that Alien creature in the cave in season 5 are realistic, yup. but Black people in Arthurian times? how dare you! Also they made her brother a knight of Camelot which was even better so she was a lady even before they married.

not like The Vampire Diaries where Bonnie gets no love, because Jeremy doesn't count in my eyes. #Bamon

Hahaha....I'm tired and confused. I read an earlier comment and didn't realize that it wasn't recent. Stupid me.
Yes I saw that! It looks really interesting so I am definitely watching when it premiers.

Bradley was in another movie called Dis/connected where he was a total player (it was a indie movie and so bad!!) but he was all over this other black chick who was his best friend, but she turned him down when she realized he was just trying to seduce her. The best parts are on youtube already!
Dancing on the Edge will be on BBC America soon, I can't remember when though.
I won't even talk about the supernatural fangirl. I just can't.

I gave up on Vampire Diaries because I just couldn't with a) the way they trotted out Bonnie every time they needed their asses saving but couldn't be bothered to give her a real story and b)the sheer asshattery of the anti-Bonnie fangirls and c) I just think Julie Plec is a hack.
But I may have to tune in this season because apparently the #Bamon buzz is growing very strong.
There is gossip that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev's break-up was Not Pretty. During Comic-Con they were seated as far away from each other as they could get. Meanwhile Ian and Kat were seated right next to each other. And the buzz reel was a comic look at Bonnie & Damon's fate in the after-life.
The #Bamon shippers are speculating hard, because also during ComicCon an interviewer asked Ian if Damon and Bonnie get closer on the other side. And he said something cryptic like 'It's a thin line between love and hate" blah blah blah. Meanwhile the #Bamon shippers got even more shippy because the show just had their upcoming season promo photo shoots and there are ones of Ian and Kat -- just the two of them together, which has never been the case before. So there are hints and teases that they might be trying to Go There.
We'll see. I am skeptical, but the show isn't outright denying anything. If it does look like they are gonna go there, I may have to tune in again.

I haven't watched the show since season 1 for the exact same reasons. I realized what they were going to pull as Bonnie being the token, that being just as pretty (or prettier than) the other girls she was still going to be so desexualized that even though she had amazing chemistry with Damon from the frigging start, it was going to be a damn joke. And I was right, because hello!Jeremy? ugh.
Julie Plec just like Ryan Murphy( Glee/American horror stories/Niptuck) are total twits. Just like Samcedes (Chord Overstreet and Amber Riley's Sam and Mercedes) were a big draw for people to watch Glee so they teased and played with the fans before dropping them like a hot potato TWICE ( I'm still salty as hell over that as you can tell)
I'm calling it now. That is exactly what Julie Plec/TVD will do with Bamon. It'll bring in the ratings and then they'll keep dragging the teasing out before destroying the couple/the fans for good. Regardless of the fact that Bonnie and Damon were canon in the books.
Also the anti-Bonnie fans who also happen to be anti-Abbie/Gwen/Lacey/Martha/Mercedes/Oliva/Insertblackwomanteamedwithawhitemanhere, can just sit and spin. If you look at what all of those women have in common, its very telling what kind of fans they actually are. (hint: of racism!)
Jo and Rico haven't got together yet?? wow. Lacey/Danny is it for me because they make SENSE. and I will definitely watch only if Bamon happens and not a second before that.
Tamara, yes! Same here! That movie is so awesome. I never get tired of watching it. I'll have to check out the other movie you mentioned. Especially if the best parts are on YT.
I stopped watching Being Human around the same time. I love that it didn't get dragged on like US tv that is abruptly canceled after a time, but it was still so sad to say goodbye to it.

I thought there was a literary rendition that matched this version of Merlin (not counting any novelizations). Huh. Ah well. I remember at the time, I loved what they did with casting Guinevere but the storyline deviation from the original made me pause. I grew up loving First Knight, Mists of Avalon (though I refuse to read MZB) and Sam Neil's Merlin so I got used to seeing the different visual takes on the same story. I'll add this to my list to check out once I swing back to my Camelot marathons again. :-)
Which reminds me, I may check out that short lived Camelot a few years back as well...

Gwen was black and there wasn't anybody of color on Camelot and I don't regret a thing.
Feel free to judge me, but I just got so tired of everything being the same for every re-invisioned version of shows. It was a refreshing change and that actually says alot about media in general.
ROFL Tamara. Actually, I bet that's a big reason why Merlin outlasted Camelot (which barely made a season, I think?) Even if the production company may not admit it, Angel & Gwen fans probably kept a big part of that show going since they felt the same way. I know I do when I see a new WOC as the love interest/co-lead in new shows (Hellooo Flash!) :-)

Tina, there were so many retelling of that tale, that I'm confused, I thought they took from one version of the telling, but still, Gwen was more than a maid to author. That
such a good point, Gwen being black not realistic, but a talking dragon is? Very good point Tina. those fans are just nuts!!
I hated that part too, that they weren't allowed to show affection for each other. What century are we living in?
Tamara, so true and I also loved that they made her brother a knight. I did a big cheer when that happened. I loved how Elyon's and Author's relationship were like brothers in a few episodes.
don't feel bad Tamara, I didn't watch that Camelot for the same reason. lol
Everything else being discussed here is over my head, I have heard of the shows mentioned but haven't watched them.
I'm really curious about being human.
I'm really trying to go back and read all the comments on this page seeing if any questions or statements were addressed to me, but I'm getting dizzy, so please forgive me if I've missed something.:)

Nah, I couldn't take it seriously from the previews lol. It made me keep going back to Annie, George and Mitchell hehehe.

You should definitely check out Being Human. The UK version is miles better than the US version, in my opinion. Arch is another huge fan of it.

I would agree though, most shows, I've found are better in the UK.
Hey Arch, Rae and everyone!:)
Hey Kai! You know I'm not sure...I'll have to poke around and see if they are available online somewhere. They really should make them available!
Hey Emotonal. You can buy UK Being Human on Amazon. Check with your library to see if they have it so you can check them out first. If they gave inter library loan they can get it from another library if none of your libraries have the dvds. It can take a while. Netflix might have them too.

Another of my favorite IR couples is Brad and Jane from Happy Endings (cancelled after two seasons, sob)
They were hysterical. Here are a couple of scenes for them:

Merlin ruined me for Arthurian legends. They touched on greatness now everyone else needs to get on that too. I didn't even consider watching Camelot after I saw the cast list in pictures, it was like "oh great, this again?" I'm so bored of the same old castings. and Idris was absolutely perfect in Thor, the man is basically a Norse god as it is. he's frigging huge! We need to see more of that!!
No wonder Brandy and Whitney's Cinderella was my favorite version all those years back!

I was a little too embarrassed to say it, but I do also check the cast list of a movie or show before I watch it, and I need a POC to be one of the main casts, otherwise I won't pay it a..."
Don't be embarrassed! I do this too. Every fall when the new shows come out I go to Imdb and do a POC check. Bonus points if it is a WOC! I'll watch any show that I like, but I will give a show that I may not necessarily gravitate toward a chance if it has a POC/WOC in it.
And if there are NO POC in it at all, then I am more likely than not to pass the show by completely. I stopped watching Person of Interest the episode after they killed off Carter, since she was literally the only reason I started watching it in the first place.
I look at it this way, I have watched lily white tv for 40 years, I fell perfectly fine crossing them off my list at this point in my life for something more inclusive.

Just last night I was looking for blockbuster movies that starred WOC as the lead female, in ANY genre and it was absolutely dismal.
I'm still shocked they even did Jumping Jack Flash back then because even in 2014 a movie like that, with that premise, and that casting, would not make it to the big screens.

Tina, maybe because most my television revolves around reality shows, it sometimes makes for easier viewing if there are no people of color on them. In most cases I don't want to see anything that might be a representation of me. lol

Really, yesterday, I've watched about five minutes of that show on TNT. I don't know if that was a new show or not. I am not sure what channel the show original comes on. All I know is that Rob Morrow caught my attention. I use to watch him on Northern Exposure.
