I really really hated with a fiery passion how they treated her character on that show. The fans gave her a really hard time, which was also infuriating just because they saw her as a roadblock to their fave pairing (tale as old as time with BWs in love triangles and not being end game, sigh).
I remember back in the day, there used to be an official BSG forum and we made sure to support her in the thread to show how much we appreciated her. I think she appreciated it. A friend of hers used to pop on and relay her thoughts and stuff. I think I even sent her one of my books long ago, and she sent me a thank-you photo, which was pretty epic of her. She's a sweetie and I wish she had more roles and notoriety because she was always a joy to watch. Same with Antoinette Robertson and Nadine Ellis. They all should have been in more leading lady roles because they have the talent, looks, and it factor.

I hated it as well; but what they did helped to bolster my decision to never support a show/movie/book if a poc is not in it, and if in it, not treated right. I don't care what hollywood or the nyt says of how good the item is. if we do not demand we will never be seen or heard or read.

What is this Cole? Is this it?

Epic! Glad you enjoyed it! :-D And sounds good! I wish we could have a watch party or something but I'm not sure how to approach that! If I find out, I'll have to let you guys know.

Ah thank you.

From the trailer it looks like it does, but I’m not sure either.
In other news, Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been renewed for s2! The burn is going slow but but we’re one step closer to see it all play out.

Not something you see everyday and probably wouldn't from a mainstream Hollywood. African woman and Chinese man in China the dialogue is all Chinese. Looks beautiful.

Technically, this is streaming, not TV but I thought I'd share this beautiful little film that came up in my YT recs. It's 3 years old, so some here may have seen it already, but I figured I'd share it just in case. :-)

I have watched the video. I don’t see Wild Cards lasting past the first season. Just from the video, Vanessa’s character is annoying and I can’t stand annoying women in anything.
Enjoy the show.

Fun fact: The costume designer is Kara Saun who was on the very first season on Project Runway and came in second place. I loved her that season!

Oh also in addition to Sense and Sensibility, there's another mystery movie that premiered tonight featuring a BW (Lyndie Greenwood, she was also the lead in last year's xmas movie with Hallmark staple, Paul Campbell).

This looks good!
This looks good!
Hope you enjoy when you see it, Danielle! :-)
I still have to watch Percy Jackson, but I'm so looking forward to it!
Btw, I just saw from the video that Tina posted author Vanessa Riley was a Regency consultant on Sense and Sensibility! So cool! I have her regencies on my reading list and I need to move them up a bit.
Anyway, this is a gentle reminder that the movie premieres in a few hours so tune in if you can! I'm hoping we give Hallmark some nice numbers to show how much we enjoy seeing BW leads on their channel!
I'm not going to do a watch party because I'm on the West Coast, and I think a lot of people will be all over, so our time zones will sadly be off (and I'm usually the last to see the showing)! But if you are on Twitter, they have a hashtag going (#senseandsensibilty) for watching throughout the showings. I won't be on Twitter because it's a cesspit, but I will be watching with my ma, who wants to do a phone viewing party. :-)
I'm super excited to watch.

Yw Shana! Glad you guys were able to see it.
I really loved it. Watched it twice because I couldn't get enough. The costumes, the acting, the beautiful scenery and whimsy. Loved it so much. I really hope it comes out on DVD. I need it on my movie shelf. :-D

Right? it took me a minute because we we first saw Fanny, I thought she was white because her brother was white. But then I saw her in full face and I'm like... naw, Fanny is black! I did look up the actress to be sure and.. yeah, she is.
And then we meet John Middleton, who is white, but lo and behold his wife is black. As was the Steele sisters. heh.
Reminds me that if they ever do a tv adaptation of Ben Aaronvitch's Rivers of London series, if they stick to the books then all the female rivers would be black women and all the male rivers would be white men.

Marianne is obnoxiously naïve and dumb, and I can't stand her character. I like Elinor though. Deborah Ayorinde is flawless in the purple outfits.
The costumes in this Hallmark movie is on point.

I wish they hire this costume designer for The Little Mermaid, 'cause wtf was Halle wearing in that movie.

Sense and Sensibility is the only Austen I ever liked and I am not an Austen fan. I can't stand Pride and Prejudice. So I was thrilled they did this one. And yup that is basically Marianne's character in a nutshell. LOL.
Mosaic wrote: "Deborah Ayorinde is flawless in the purple outfits"
Yes! There was one lavender one she wore during hte first Steele sisters visit. I mentioned it on twitter and Deborah Ayorinde nicely responded that it was her favorite. Actually I had great interactions with Deborah Ayorinde and Vanessa Riley on twitter during the watching b/c I live tweeted. Vanessa has a producer credit on the show and also was a background character during the ball scene.

Wait Fanny was black? I thought she was a WW! Wow. Though Mrs. Ferrars got on my nerves, I was tickled when she ordered Fanny to sit heh.

Definitely worth a second viewing! And probably many more! I would love both versions on my shelf. They're officially my fave versions.

Same. I like Pride and Prejudice but only the BBC and 40s versions but Sense and Sensibility has always been my fave (Emma kind of annoys me).
I know most don't like Marianne (my mom even griped about her on the phone during our viewing), but I kinda get where the girl is coming from, considering what time they're growing up in and the constraints of the time. Mix teen boy crazy years with your worth being hinged on who you marry and how slim the chances are it being someone you care about and you've got Marianne. I got a soft spot for her. Loved Elinor/Deborah's portrayal. And Margaret was adorable.
I totally missed Vanessa in the ball scene! She posted the pic on her FB and now I want to go back and see it again to spot her. Her dress was so lovely!

Also, here is a lovely 40 minute interview with Andrew and Danai doing an entire walk down memory lane of Rick and Michonne;s entire relationship from start to finish. The actors themselves act like an old married couple. Even so much that Andrew is jealous that she kissed another actor on screen. They are funny and charming together.

So glad to hear it! Would I get what’s going on if I stopped watching TWD shortly after they got together? Wish I could’ve kept watching for them but it was getting a lot with all the deaths. I needed a break and never actually went back.

A newbie can watch this:
https://youtu.be/DAceTBkdLv8?si=tyCrf...
and get the background on them and drop into the new series. Sure they'll miss all the various incarnations of Rick (The Ricktatorship, Farmer Rick, Crazy-Feral season 5 Rick, Stern-resolute Rick, Can't we All just Get along Rick, and They don't know who they fucking with Rick, e.g.) but you get enough to learn.
I feel like this was a show gift to Richonne shippers and only Richonne shippers.

Nice, thanks! (Those incarnation names cracked me up btw.)
Can’t wait to watch it.

I stopped watching TWD after 1st season. LOL. But I love to watch clips of Rick and Michonne.

I used to watch Merlin. It ended in 2012. It’s on Tubi, Roku, Pluto and Plex. King Arthur and Guinevere were played by Bradley James and Angel Coulby, who were also dating in real life.
Merlin played by Colin Morgan caught my eyes. I like nerds.
