Tyler Perry and interracial couples equals an instant hard pass from me. He already has issues with how he depicts Black women so I can only imagine the clusterf*ck he's going to do with this pairing.

TinaNoir | 1456 comments Lifetime Christmas movies have a few of IR romances

No Time Like Christmas stars Kyla Pratt and Ed Ruttle. Airs Oct. 27th

Christmas in Louisiana a rare WW/BM pairing in the wholesome Christmas tv movie landscape. Stars Jana Kramer and Percy Daggs III. Airs Nov. 16th.

A Very Vintage Christmas Stars Tia Mowrey-Hadrict and Jesse Hutch. Airs Nov. 27th.

Thank you. I had banned Liftime from my house because of all it's Christmas movies without a PoC lead. I'll make sure to add these to my viewing list.

TinaNoir | 1456 comments LOL.. Then you must have buried Hallmark under the shrubs and never to be spoken of again. They are utterly terrible about POC leads. At least Lifetime not only has those IRs I mentioned above, but three other movies that feature both African American H&H. And Lifetime had a few last year.

Hallmark has one this year. And the on they do have is the first one they have ever had. People have been calling them out for years.

Saw the trailer for this show and it does not have my vote. He does not do tv drama well and it breaks my heart but I won't be watching this.

Yeah I'm following this show :) I believe the Season 2 just ended I really hope they will continue with season 3 because it will be more on Starfire/ Kory's story .....I'm so excited !!! But I hope they don't cancel it because to be honestm season 2 was really draggy and dealt too much into "emotional investment" rather than action packed themed.

I mean, come on! Robin enough with "subconscious" Bruce giving you pep-talk and advise ....get yourself together man, your emotional and guilt fest nearly took up the entire season!!

Also there was a lot more add on character in season 2 .....so I really wish we get a season 3 because I want Kory to shine !!!!

Anyone aware of how much harassment Anna Diop had to deal with for taking on Starfire role ? Because Alien should only be white apparently, even though Starfire in comic/animation is an orange skin alien from planet Tamaran.

Deviki Anyone watching / watched these shows ?

Evil - BM/WW - Mike Colter (Luke Cage)
Head Count - BW/WM - Horror movie, IR main protagonist(s)
Damnation - BW/WM - they end up together
Final Space - BW/WM - animation
13 reasons why (Season 3) - BW/WM - I don't know how I feel about them...
Sanditon - No IR but it has Crystal Clarke in it as a rich black girl

batwoman - BW/WW - not sure about this couple ....I haven't watch this show

I watched the first episode of Batwoman and I wasn't hooked. I'm not sure it's a BW/WW couple as the the BW was engaged to a WM.

Didn't know any of the others existed.

This film focuses more on the plot of the movie than on the IR. I thought it was enjoyable. :-) Saw it twice.

TinaNoir | 1456 comments Single Parents, an ensemble comedy on ABC. Quite charming and funny. S1 was finding its way, S2 has been excellent. BW/WM couple who kinda like each other in Season 1. Acknowledge they want a romance in the last couple eps of S1. Full blown romance in S2.

The new 9-1-1 spinoff, 9-1-1 Lonestarcoming in January features an IR WM/BW Couple: Judd Ryder who was the sole survivor of the original 126 house after a rescue call ended in tragedy. A gruff cowboy to his core, Judd is married to Grace, a 9-1-1 call center operator, and struggles with PTSD, unsure if he ever can be the firefighter he once was.

TinaNoir | 1456 comments Two Black Mirror type shows I've come across. Not romances, but do feature IR couples/families

The Feed. Streaming on Amazon. I haven't watched it, so can't say if it is good or not, but the main character is a BW and she is married to a WM whose family is responsible for the technology that integrates your brain/system into an internet like feed. Looks like a sci-fi/thriller/horror thingy.

Years and Years on HBO. This one I am watching and it is very good. Follows a British family as they live through tumultuous times. each episode is another five years into the future and we see as current political stuff gets a little worse and worse, technology gets more and more sophisticated etc. The oldest son is married to a BW and their younger daughter has a major storyline. One thing I also liked about this one, it is has a lot of rep: One of the sisters is disabled, one of the brothers is gay, the family is multicultural etc.

At a blink of an eye you can share these memories and pop in to another persons feed. Talk about big brother!!

So far there are at least a couple of interracial and intercultural couples, including a BW/WM, LW/WM, WW/LM. The show seems to be showcasing them much better than now-canceled Dating in Dark, which had some serious problems with racism.

TinaNoir | 1456 comments No clue if there is any romance in this, but I feel the need to signal boost this. Vagrant Queen a sci fi space opera where the main character is a black queen.

described as a 'fun, violent, snarky space opera' Vagrant Queen follows Elida from child queen to orphaned outcast as she scavenges the treacherous corners of the galaxy, always one step ahead of the Republic government that seeks to extinguish her bloodline. When her old friend Isaac Xevelyn, is still alive, they head off with their new ally, Amae to stage a rescue that will put the fugitive royal right back in the perilous heart of her former kingdom — and pit her against a deadly old rival, Commander Lazaro .

Yeah, I am there! On the SYFY channel March 27th.

OMG. I just finished episode two. I know the finale won't air til Thursday and now I think I am going to wait.

For people who don't know, Love is Blind is a reality dating show on Netflix? I swore I would not get sucked in but I did. There are ten total episodes. Netflix dropped the first five last week. And then the next four this week. With the last one to be dropped on Thursday which answers the question did any of the couples get married (it is the wedding episode).

The premise is that there are a bunch of men and women who are put together and go on a series of speed dates. The catch is, they don't get to actually see each other. They meet in these little rooms -- pods -- that have a frosted glass between the two rooms. They can hear each other really well, they just can't see each other.

The idea is that they'll "date" in these pods and get to like each other. If they have a connection, the only way to actually meet in person is for them to fall in love and the guy to propose marriage -- sight unseen.

There is this IR couple (BWWM) who I think are really sweet together. I went on twitter and it looks like they are the ones that people are rooting for the most. I think they are cute and am rooting for them too.... which is why I think I am going to wait and get spoiled before I decide to finish. LOL.

message 487: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir | 1456 comments Ok, so I binged Love Is Blind. It was a blast. Also, The IR couple, Lauren and Cameron, are the break out couple of the show. They legit made me feel like I was reading a romance novel come to life. They also, imo, get the best edit of everyone especially in the finale.

They filmed the show in 2018! So anything that happened happened over a year and 1/2 ago. And all these people had to keep everything secret.

I will put the rest under spoiler:

Im obsessed with them. I thought a man like Cameron Reid Hamilton exists in IR books only! The way he is so sure that Lauren is THE one is incredible, from the first time he met Lauren he said that he will take care of her. He repeatedly said through out the show( 4 times to be exact!) They way he looked at her and touched her *swoon*. They just launched their YouTube channel, cant wait to follow their journey.

So glad the BBC did it and cast a gorgeous dark-skinned actress too. Had Hollywood done this, we'd end up with Amandla Stenberg or Yara Shahid because colorism. I'm curious to see it, though seriously, save yourselves the cesspit that is the comment section on YouTube.

Anyone here watched the pilot episode yet ?

I just finished watching it..........In my opinion, I felt like it was badly executed. The acting was kind of stiff and unbelievable. Maybe I'm being harsh, I mean it's just episode one but still .....I don't know it prompts me to continue watching.

What do you guys think ?
