message 207: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments It as really good. The ending was a little bit sad though. I felt bad for Hester...

message 208: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments I'm gonna finish The Kings of Clonmel (Ranger's Apprentice, #8) by John Flanagan and then I'm going to read Crash Into Me by Albert Borris instead of the Clive Cussler book. that one will have to wait. And Im also reading, kinda, Smart Women Finish Rich 9 Steps to Achieving Financial Security and Funding Your Dreams by David Bach . :P My mom wants me to read it cause i just started my own business. it's kinda cool.

Athena | 143 comments Would anyone be interested in reading any of the following books with me? As a... 'Buddy' read I guess. I have to read two of them at least for school though I'd be interested and reading them all. But I have 6 weeks of summer left and I need the motivation to get through the books...

The Power of One
The Great Gatsby
The Namesake
Any book by Bill Bryson
Mountains Beyond Mountains
The Book Thief
West by the Night
The Bluest Eye
Freedom Writers’ Diary
The House of the Scorpion
The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Annie (louize48) | 291 comments Aloha!
There are several books on your list I am interested in! Thing is I JUST, this afternoon did a 16 book buying spree! Not one of these match up w/ what I ordered. Bummer!

Is your list must reads?

Also, Scarlett Letter... Thumbs up? Or Down?
~Annie

Athena | 143 comments Thumbs up. Depressing/happy ending. Not too bad.

Yes unfortunately I have to read two of these books I wish they could be anything else. Meh. I'll deal I supposed. *sigh* just not sure where to start... I own two of the books already. One I've read, the other I only read half because it was kind of boring... But I always said I'd read both eventually. I'm thinking I'd start from the top and work my way down. They're all cheaper on my nook so that's where I was gonna get them.

I'd be willing to do Any Book by Bryson and Perks of Being a Wallflower.

message 213: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments Oooooo! Which book by Bryson do you think?

message 214: by Jon (new)

Jon (jon17) | 372 comments I'm up for anything. Do you have a preference?
I heard Walk in the Woods is good.

message 215: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments i read the reviews for that one. it looks interesting. but i kind of want to read his one on shakespear. Shakespeare: The World as Stage

message 217: by Jon (new)

Jon (jon17) | 372 comments It does look good! Thanks for the seal of approval, Annie :)

When would you like to read it?

message 218: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments which one is she talking about? :P

and maybe we could start with the wallflower? cause i just bought that one. em... what date do you think we should have it read by? Or do you wanna set dates as to when we should have a certain part read? :P

message 219: by Jon (new)

Jon (jon17) | 372 comments Oh good point - I assumed she meant the Shakespeare one.

How is the Wallflower book divided? How many chapters? Pages?

message 220: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments well, in the version i have theres 4 parts and an epilogue. so im assuming thats what it looks like in most of them.

message 221: by Jon (new)

Jon (jon17) | 372 comments OK I made a thread here

I think instead of setting a date or sections we should use spoiler tags so we could read at our own pace and others could join the discussion as well.

Just indicate what part/pages you're discussing before the tag.

Athena | 143 comments Whoa! That's so cool! :D

Hey y'all. I haven't posted in awhile. So this is an update.

I'm currently reading: Heaven (Halo, #3) by Alexandra Adornetto , This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen , and I'm gonna start Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, #1) by Orson Scott Card from school. I'm also reading a college book thingy. Bt I can't remember the name of the book. :P

Also, I'm homeschooling this year. Which is cool. I'm a 12th grader! WHOO! Can't wait for college!

I'm starting a new business, which will explode as soon as all the set up stuff is all complete. So that's awesome too. I'm really excited to try the products, but all of my up lines and friends say that the products are amazing. Yay. :D

Oh, I turned 18 this summer. That was awesome. Emmmmmmm.... Yeah. :)

Athena | 143 comments The college book is called Debt-Free U How I Paid for an Outstanding College Education Without Loans, Scholarships, Or Mooching Off My Parents by Zac Bissonnette , in case anyone was wondering. :)
