Annie (louize48) | 291 comments Hi Kyle & Athena!

I was just introducing myself to Athena here.
Athena, I remember that book like I read it yesterday!

message 159: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments Hey Kyle. :)

Yeah. It's okay. It's hard to understand sometime cause the readers have thick accents. But I get the jist of what's going on.

message 160: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Athena.:)

Oh, okay, I understand that. Good.

@Annie

Hi, Annie!:)

Scarlett Letter...that's quite the classic book. I saw the movie starring Demi Moore.

Annie (louize48) | 291 comments Hey Athena,
Sorry for dropping out but I'm on my iphone & it's so flicking hard to see AND type. After a while I have to take a rest and start fresh on my real pc or my eyes may stay crossed for good!
If U ever want to talk about Scarlett Letter, I read it both in high school and AGAIN FOR a BA in English Lit.
'Course, this was back at the time the book was written. (KIDDING! Sorry I am up Way late here in the Wild West. But I AM serious about the offer! It's one of my fave classics!
Have a great rest of the night. ;~.}
~Annie

message 162: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments Thanks Annie. I'm reading it too, reading and listening so that I get the whole thing. :)

message 164: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments Anyone?

message 165: by Annie (last edited May 18, 2013 05:03AM) (new)

Annie (louize48) | 291 comments Hey Athena,
I was debating about answering UR question ONLY cuz I was unsure if you MAY JUST want to just FIND OUT ur answer in the process of reading the rest of the novel! I really feel awkward about giving stuff away that is yet to be discovered & here's why...
Unless you're REALLLLY just NOT INTO this book at all; and/or FOR SURE want to give it a swift kick across the room, i maybe could answer your question. More likely, I'd suggest you watch a film version or skim a Cliff or Spark notes summary JUST to have the rest of the book revealed as a whole.
IT IS just as possible that I could just be the WRONG PERSON to ask! But because you did AND no one else seemed up to framing a respose (could be just an off time of day/night. Nonrtheless, since i offered to chat about the bk w/ U AND I am seem to be awake at all the WRONG hours recently, I thought I'd at least give a reason for hesitating to reply to you! Here goes (fdisclaimer: I HAVE been up ALL NIGHT)! ;)
I'm fairly sure I mentioned @ Studying Eng. Lit for my undergrad degree. Also, i come from a WHOLE family of academics, where (just for the A few highlights...) my mother still teaches English FT at a large University and is well over 70! Also, both parents (split since forever) are currently or have been pulished writers thru their lives. Stage set! what I'm trying to get at boils down to this:
I'm obv. not following in the family business! I prefer prof. student to prof anyday! More germane here, is that I regard reading as a collaborative creative process between reader & writer. Without a writer, there is no book. Equally, w/o a reader to experience a writer's art, there is no art & thus really no book!
To ASK any question & aim to uncover something you believe unlikely to influence a story as a whole in any way, will more often than not have unexpected consequences on the outcome!
Maybe not, but you just never know...
I hope I didn't just put YOU to sleep in MY sleeplessness! So, do me a favor and BEFORE you GET your answer, consider my POV 1st & let me know 2 things...
A) did this make A WHIT of sense you? If it did but is unclear unclear here or there, lemme
know that also!
B) IF it did have any impression or Even if I bored U to all get out. That's okay! Lemme know bout that also!
For now: Good Morning & Good Night
~peace
Annie

Athena | 143 comments Eeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhh... Lol. You're awesome. :P I understand why you hesitated. Family part kind confused me a bit.

I just wanna know if we find out who he is. I don't wanna know who he is, just whether or not we find out. :P also, I'm actually enjoying the book.

message 167: by Annie (new)

Annie (louize48) | 291 comments Question for you... (A Clue?)

Athena,
How far along in the book are you? I ask because you MAY have missed the answer to your question (ahem!)?
Sincerely, Annie
PS I REALLY am trying to help you out here so stick with me here...

message 168: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments Lol. Just finished chapter 6

message 169: by Annie (new)

Annie (louize48) | 291 comments LOL. There are certainly lots of versions of a book this old! :)
Let me try this: what is CURRENTLY happening with our gal Hester in the copy of the edition you are reading?

message 170: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments Oh uuuuuuh........ Hester heard the the people were planning on taking Pearl away from her cause they suspected Pearl was a demon child or something and so Hester and Pearl are at the Ministers house to tell him that Hester doesn't want Pearl taken away.

message 171: by Annie (new)

Annie (louize48) | 291 comments Well, here's what I'm wondering: if sista H is stylin the letter A, she already knows the other perks that go along with her pkg deal: You've reached the scene of her 'sentencing,' which IS WHERE the answer to your QUESTION appears. (AKA Big crowd scene everyone arguing about what here fate should be?) Member?
If this has already happened (& if Memory serves, I am fairly sure). MSG me again cuz you may have flown right by the SECTION UR looking for, and I'll explain what went down & where.
So...I have answered your original ask! "Do we find out who Pearl's baby daddy? Yes
So that all you want to know, you worked for it BUT if you missed it & want to try to go back & figure out where, I gave you the directions. If ya were there $ just wanna move fwd: I do you a solid & make it a bit easier,ok?
Later, gotta go put on my A for the day!
~Annie ;~.}

message 172: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments But all of that happened in the beginning! And she refused to tell them who the dad was.... I is confused. :(

Athena | 143 comments Considering starting a Clive Cussler novel. Thoughts anyone?

message 190: by [deleted user] (new)

Raise The Titanic! (Dirk Pitt, #4) by Clive Cussler is a great one. My father read it twice.

message 191: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments That's in the Dirk something series right?

message 192: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, it's Dirk Pitt number 4. Not sure if you have to read the first three or not.

Pacific Vortex! (Dirk Pitt, #1) by Clive Cussler is the first in the Dirk Pitt series.

message 193: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments Yeah.

No. Mom said you don't. She said they're all the same person but completely different adventures that have nothing to do with each other. But that's okay. I'm gonna start with the first one.

message 194: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah, I see. I've never read Cussler before. What kind of books does he write?

message 195: by Athena (new)

Athena | 143 comments Adventure or something. Idk. I've never read his books either.

message 196: by [deleted user] (new)

I like reading new authors I've never read before. I just started House Of Bones by Graham Masterton. My first time reading him.

It's my 40th birthday tomorrow. Party time!:)
