My blog is bevjoneswriting.wordpress.com A techy friend of mine helped me set it up or I wouldn't have had a clue. (She picked the name) I have a weird effect on technology and if I can break it, I will. Now I'm used to it I can just about do posts! I use it to talk about books I like and give recommendations on a theme in a lighthearted way ( basically I indulge my sillier side, the opposite of my books which are quite dark). I'd love it if anyone wanted to pop by and leave a comment or recommendations for me. It's a bit of fun really and I cover lots of genres.

I have just started to do a blog on GOODREADS, but I'm afraid that I'll still too new to the blog game (and to using a computer as well) to say much about it. But in principle it seems to be a good thing. I find it almost as a type of ...shall I say, self therapy. After all, one better understands what one really thinks when thoughts are written down.
I have a blog and write book reviews.Elizabeth

Stop by if you can.
Thanks for Sharing Elizabeth! I am checking out other blogs so I can create one myself and yours is quiet similar to what I want to do, only unlike many of the other bloggers that are out there, I can't read a book a day, or sometimes even a book a week!
I have two blogs: The Flashlight michalkarni.blogspot.co.iland Lights Along the Way bsdkarni.blogspot.co.il
writing prompts for Jewish women writers.
Even though I've signed up to get his posts by email, I still like to go into Joe Konrath's site (A Newbie's Guide to Publishing)and have a browse amongst his older stuff. As a writer fairly newly-converted to ebooks, it is Konrath who convinced me to get back the rights in my backlist(pardon the repetition of 'back') and epublish them myself. It was the best decision I ever made. As a long-term midlister who received little or no marketing money, it's been no great hardship doing the time-consuming marketing as I always had to do it myself anyway. Thanks, Joe. You're an inspiration. I also like Dean Wesley Smith's site, Kristin Kathryn Rusch and Mollie Greene. Such a lot to learn...
Oh Blogs. Don't talk to me about blogs. I have a blog. Well, actually, I've had THREE! The first was a Blogger site which I posted to regularly. But then I was ill for some time and let it slide and when I tried to start posting again, I couldn't get in! Then I had a blog attached to my new, professionally-designed website. But the designers seem to have gone belly-up and I am unable to post to the blog (though, funnily enough, the website itself still works).I have just recently signed up for a wordpress site (http://geraldineevansbooks.wordpress.... am gradually getting to grips with it. Last night I printed out the site's instructions for the first time. Wish I'd done it sooner!
I have a blog. I really like writing my poetry there and it has a good audience who enjoy reading it ( at least I hope so) If you like poetry come have a look!http://soadhachami.wordpress.com/

Andrea wrote: "How did you guys come up with your blog names? That's my next biggest hurdle!"Mine is called "In Cold Ink," and the names was suggested by my friend Diana Gabaldon. Actually, we were brainstorming title for my upcoming mystery (finally went with A DANGEROUS FICTION), but I loved her suggestion of "In Cold Ink" and decided to adopt it for my blog. It' all about the business and craft of publishing, a business I've been in since before the invention of papyrus. Hope you'll stop by and check it out. At the moment there's an interview with NYT bestselling author Lorraine Bartlett, who reveals some truly startling facts about her self-published work. http://bit.ly/11pbn4O
Hey, y'all! I am new to the group and new to blogging. I started a blog earlier in April: http://janereads2.blogspot.com/I post brief reviews of the books I read, and also my progress in the challenges I am participating in, through my other groups.
I have recently added some posts about Giveaways from other blogs - the keyword Giveaway has increased the traffic to my blog.
I finally started mine! YAYAY!!! After months...wait, no, err, years in waiting!http://chorleychronicals.blogspot.com

Yours looks fantastic, compared to mine Jane! I just started mine the other night!
Andrea wrote: "Yours looks fantastic, compared to mine Jane! I just started mine the other night! "Thanks, Andrea. I like yours also! The Giveaway tab is a good idea.
I have made a lot of changes to my blog in the last two weeks (not all at once, but more like one or two each day) because of things I see in other blogs that I follow.
I've had a blog for about a year now, called IN COLD INK, and I'm loving it. Never wanted to do it before, because I have this quaint notion that professional writers should be paid for writing. But at the same time, I felt I had a lot to say about the writing and publishing business (I was a literary agent and an editor for many years till I gave it all up to write.) It is time-consuming, but I'm really pleased that people find it useful, and it's a great way for me to communicate with readers. I just posted the cover reveal for two of my earlier books, which are being reissued as ebooks and paperback. Hope you'll take a peek. http://bit.ly/11R2kdn

I figured out how to make the tab but not to post to it, so it is still a work in progress!
I've had a spot at Blogspot because of my gmail account forever and also one at WordPress for over a year! I couldn't seem to figure WordPress out until I was on someone else's WordPress blog today and saw my account and saw that it was actually quite easy, so I am going to create the same page at each site and see which one I want to use!
Andrea wrote: "I figured out how to make the tab but not to post to it, so it is still a work in progress!"Oh yes, always in progress. I just finished fiddling with mine, editing the two giveaway posts because the contests ended an hour ago.
Plus, I got a new laptop pc this evening. Even more things to fiddle with, more works in progress!
I have a blog on blogspot for my novel. www.annandbrynbauer.blogspot.com.I like blogger over wordpress only because it's free and in my opinion, easier to use. Plus, because it's google, I've found that it's easier to do SEO activities.Cuban Sun
I want to be able to make a separate page so I can keep my reviews apart from everything else but I can't figure it out! From what I can tell, you can only make one post on other pages than your main page!Anybody know about any of this?
I use Blogspot because I have gmail for my email! HAHA that rhymes! Although after I FINALLY set up my blogspot account, I was looking at another blog on Wordpress and miraculously figured out how to use WordPress, so.....I don't know which one to use!
I have a blog here on Goodreads. I used to write a newspaper column and the Goodreads blog is similar; I poke fun at stupid things other people do, stupid things that I do and anything that just sort of strikes my irritated funny bone. Occasionally I might mention one of my books, but that's not the purpose. I find humor a great release for personal frustrations. Dave Gehrke
I have a relatively new blog. I intended it to be about many of my interests, reading, wine, cooking, fitness...however it has turned out to be 99% books. I just never know what to say about the other stuff :) Although BethFishreads hosts a meme called weekendcooking that often combines cooking and books and I have participated a couple times.my blog: www.angrygreycatreads.com
Jenni wrote: "Does anyone ever check this blog for crime reviews? I've seen it talked about quite a bit.http://www.reviewingtheevidence.com/"
Yes, I used to check out that blog every week. I don't so much anymore since they stopped having giveaways. I know that sounds cheap and petty, but it's true that book giveaways are a great way to pull readers to your blog.
I do a blog twice a months (second and fourth Tuesday) on The Ladykillers. We use Typepad, which I haven't seen anyone mention. I'm also doing a lot of guest blogging since I have a book coming out. I like to blog. It gives me a chance to blather on, but not for too long. :)
Jac wrote: "Dave wrote: "I have a blog here on Goodreads. But I'm supposedly retired now so I only blog when something moves me. Which isn't that often anymore. Jaded, I guess. Besides, I retired early so I could write books. Done three so far with a couple more in the works. Very different kind of writing. But I miss the hyperbole, ergo the occasional blog.
I read a lot of blogs and I have two. one is my personal blog http://ladetawak.wordpress.com and my book blog http://weblogaboutbooks.blogspot.com my favorite is http://thenakedconvos.com
I have a blog here on Goodreads, that is a feed from my website. But, honestly I struggle to find things to write about. It's tough, but every piece of advice I get seems to involve the necessity of every author having a blog. So, there you go! I do enjoy reading other blogs, writer tips, book reviews, etc.
I've kept up my blog for the past year and as an author I focus it around books. Some about my books, reviews of books in my genre (mystery/thriller)and book discovery posts such as my Book Savor interviews to find out what other people are reading. Now and then I'll throw in thoughts on the creative process and inspiration from traveling and encountering new cultures. Here is the latest: http://carmenamato.net/blog
I blog about law enforcement related topics and poetry. Yup, you read that right. I have a weird mind I guess. I think blogging is fun so I do it. Others make it too much work and push their books too much to make it fun.
A blog post tribute to the mystery author Leighton Gage, who passed away last week. He was a big influence on my writing and I highly recommend his books:http://carmenamato.net/the-writerly-l...
I have a blog! Just message me if you follow me and i'll follow back!http://kailalynch.blogspot.com/
I use my blog on my website to write about nature and ecology. It's called...wait for it...Ecology Blog. It's here - http://www.norenemoskalski.com/ecolog...It is mostly about respecting nature and leaving each place a little bit better than you found it. This week's message is a public service message asking for volunteers to help clean up the Delaware Coastal Shores. If you have any similar messages that you would like to post there, just let me know!
I've recently started a blog about family history which I find a fascinating subject. http://familyhistorysecrets.blogspot.comAll those mysteries and skeletons in cupboards! Food for mystery writers...
I blog about writing and occasionally include a poem or a short story or an excerpt from my novel. See jguentherauthor.wordpress.com
Yes... I blog about writing (mine) and offer plot help to others. http://maeganbeaumont.blogspot.com/
I write a blog for my youtube (beauty) videos, and have a Tumblr blog!http://carnivorousmakeup.blogspot.com/

As an easy way to get started and see if I can do it, I've started writing a blog at booklikes.com. It's set up to be a book blogging platform so it's really easy. Mine is http://mrsbaty.booklikes.com/

thank you!! Erin Kelly (my go-to for all things media) did an amazing job. :) I've been told it matches the book perfectly.

I use both Blogger and WordPress.
If you don't have a domain name, blogger is better because it allows for more customization and experimenting. You can't do much with WordPress.com and even WordPress.org is a bit stressful to use.
Blogger is cheaper too.
I prefer WordPress' commenting system to that of blogger.

It may not matter. The halflife of a typical blog is between three and six months*. In other words, half of all bloggers lose interest in less than 6 months. If you aren't going to post a comment at least once a week, for the next few years, you might as well not bother. Of course, you can always start up another later on.
* some say two years.
