This is one of my ALL TIME favorites. And it gets better every time I read it. I will definitely reread it with you all.
I'm definitely in! I'm going to try and read it in English for the first time, I'm sure it'll be even more hilarious.
I'll join in on this one too! It'll help me finish The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Can we do a poll on the treads? Or maybe we'll just keep track on here.
Before we start, I'm curious what everyone's first exposure to Hitchhiker was. If it was the book, movie, radio play, comic book, video game, etc.
Personally, I think the order I experienced Hitchhiker affected my overall enjoyment of the franchise.
I checked this book out from the library once and for some reason never read it ... I'll give it another try :)
YAY I need to read this. I'll have to see if the library has it or something. I have the second book (oops no, make that the THIRD book) on my shelf but need to read the first one first!

I first heard about the Guide on a Doctor Who forum (yep! Huge Doctor Who fan and proud of it :D) a couple of years ago and started reading the series. Somehow I never got beyond the third books. Then I watched the movie which I enjoyed, even though I think it's not as funny as the book. I loved the dolphins' song though.
I've read that the original cast of the radio play is on tour in the UK. Has anyone been to see the show?
I am in! This has been on my tbr for a very long time. @Kai - as to your question (and I'm kind of embarassed to admit it), I remember when HG2G books were first released (must have been early 80's) and my cousin was reading them. All those years ago, and I've still never picked it up to read. I'm happy to have a reason to jump in!
I first found out about it when I watched the movie and tbh I really didn't like it. When I found out it was a book I was dubious at first but after having people tell me it was so much better than the movie I decided to give it a go. :)
Did you all see the Google Doodle today? It's Douglas Adams birthday today. Thought it was very appropriate for the March read. :-)
If this book is funny I must be on a different wave length. I only finished to get it off the TBR list. I love Monty Python ... just couldn't get the humor in this book I guess.
I have just finished reading it. I know it's a bit late for the buddy read (and in general - it's the same age as me so why haven't I read it before?!?) Hilarious!@Craig and Sharon - yes the humour is very Monty Python - absurd and surreal and very British! I can see that not everyone would find it funny because of this but I absolutely loved it!
