Minda~Quenn {Somehow I found a way to get lost in you} I know EXACTLY how you feel!!!! I didn't know if I wanted to cuss out the producers or simply cry when I realized they'll never be able to fix it after I watched the movie.

message 153: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez OK... FOR EVERYONE, CAN WE NOT TALK ABOUT BOOKS 2, 3, and 4?? I wanna continue conversation here but if people start to talk about it, I'm out. Haven't read the other books just the first one.

Things they needed to fix:
-explain how Lena prevented the curse at the end
-not have Ethan forget his memory
-bring in Aunt Marian

The BEST part of the movie: in the church where Sarafine reveals herself to Macon. The 2 best actors for those roles wasted in ONE movie... Ridiculous!!!!

nichole I didn't like the movie, but only because it was totally
different than the book.

message 155: by Cayo (new)

Cayo Orlando Hern The movie made $90 million at the box office internationally....add in the DVD sales and I bet it will have made $100 million....but amazingly it was considered an under-performer....It was the same situation for ENDER'S GAME. What a world!

message 156: by Minken (new) - rated it 4 stars

Minken What? But Ender's Game was so good! What is happening to our world?

Lorraine Everyone is commenting on how they hated the movie because it wasn't the same as the book . Well I read the book and I have watched the movie and I love both! If people would just stop comparing the two totally different art forms and judge them separately then perhaps you could see the movie for what it is and not what it isn't. Sure it has been altered from the book but what adaptation hasn't. And sure I would have loved for it to be spot on but it isn't and when you watch it without prejudice or comparison you end up finding a truly wonderfully acted, beautifully atmospheric and magical movie. I just wish that people could simply watch the film and see it for what it is, a separate piece of art and not a copy. Then maybe they too could see what us who enjoyed it do.

message 158: by Annie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Annie Sorry....loved this whole series...watched the movie twice...still did not like it....and I hope they do not do another one...it could have been so much better...I did not mind the combo of characters...but they left out some major aspects...like NO song for one...But I am excited about the new series!!

message 159: by Jess (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jess I guess it's what order you viewed them in. I saw the movie first and liked it and then i saw the books at the shops and was like yeah i'll read them. I find that the books elaborated more on the movie but i'm sure if i read the books first the movie would have disappointed me. It was by sheer luck that i saw the movie first. In comparison to the book the movie is basic and simple and not as good but by itself the movie is alright.

message 160: by Kami (last edited Dec 25, 2013 10:13AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kami Dodson-Perry Chisom - I really liked that the movie was very creative with the way they did a lot of the more difficult MAGIC scenes. They pretty much nailed it. But I was very disappointed in the fact that the MAIN story of the book was not even addressed. That was the fact that the 2 main characters can not really touch each other a lot because of the energy between the 2. In one scene of the book Lena & Ethan are making out in her bedroom even though they know it could be dangerous and Lena's younger cousin (I believe) has to run upstairs and basically revive him because his heart stopped beating. In the movie there is no talk of this problem at all. Which to me was the main story line. The Castor girl & the normal human guy want to be together and in this world that is impossible. That is why you keep reading to find out how they can get around this physical problem and actually be a couple. Again not addressed at all in the movie. Had they put that fact in the movie, it would have been awesome. I would have loved it. But because they messed that up I disliked the movie and will not watch a second one if released. I will keep my memories of the books and be happy with that.

message 161: by Maia (new) - rated it 3 stars

Maia The movie is out?

Brittney Maia wrote: "The movie is out?"

Yes is it. And if you have a Target in your area, it's five dollars.

message 163: by Lynn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lynn Parts of the movie which were meant to be serious were laughable. The authors of the books do such a good job of using language to develop depth to the characters and the mood. They also create a world with color and imagination. None of this comes across in the film.

message 164: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez If you see the extra features on the disc, you will see an interview with the authors. Just listening to their voice you can tell that they did not want the movie the way it was made.

I prefer they hold off for a few years and create the movie and start all over again... Hopefully they keep Jeremy Irons and Emma Thompson for their characters

Michael Reboots never happen like that though

Savannah- Quad Motherin' Book Readin' Diva Savannah wrote: "The movie SUCKED!!!!! I mean, it was horrible, anyone who read the books would agree"

Read 'em. Disagree. lol

Its all relative. Depends on what you got out of the book and what you wanted from the movie. Only thing I was really disappointed in was the casting for Lena.

Savannah- Quad Motherin' Book Readin' Diva Lorraine wrote: "Everyone is commenting on how they hated the movie because it wasn't the same as the book . Well I read the book and I have watched the movie and I love both! If people would just stop comparing t..."

Exactly. I agree, 100%. People need to stop going into theaters with the expectation that what they see in their heads will be realized before them OR that the details will be honored in the same way. They have roughly 90 minutes to supposedly make an audience feel the same way a reader does while reading page after page of descriptive imagery and emotion? Its not going to happen. Its just not. What an author can spend two pages evoking from a reader, a production team/writer/director has about 10 seconds to nail. Its an unfair comparison.

message 168: by Ahda (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ahda I haven't seen the movie yet, honestly, but I heard that it was not good. However, I like it when the books I read have film adaptations, as long as they stick to the plot of the book (e.g. The Hunger Games)
But if they will make another one though, and destroy what readers imagine about the story, then I would not want them to make a sequel of it.

message 169: by [deleted user] (new)

I _loved_ the movie. Went out, bought all the books and read them. I've read them several times at this point because they are excellent. I think the cast was stellar and they are fools not to make a sequel. The young lead actors Alice Englert and Alden Ehrenreich did splendidly well. Good lord, they had their work cut out for them! Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis _and_ Emma Thompson? Wow, just a little intimidating. they all _killed_ their performances. Fabulous screenplay. Very well done overall.

I give anything with Jeremy Irons OR Viola Davis in it automatic props. Those two deliver enough greatness to reading the alphabet to make it worth the price of admission.

message 171: by Josh (new) - rated it 5 stars

Josh Jordan I've read the first two books and I've loved them. I've seen the movie three times. I admit the plot isnt all the way there but not all movies about the books are. I absolutely love both of them its my favorite movie and book.
Everyone that doesn't think the movie is as good well that's your opinion not mine. Personally I really want them to make a sequel.

message 172: by Josh (new) - rated it 5 stars

Josh Jordan The characters are a little off but im sure if they do make a sequel they'll
Find a way to "substitute" the characters in a way.

message 173: by Ayano (new)

Ayano I am in the middle of reading the books and I believe that the movie was the book and to the books tjere should be more cus there is a lot more information or details in and the others

message 174: by deedee (new) - rated it 3 stars

deedee megadoodoo The movie is a pretty huge disappointment... The only character that I really thought played her part well was Emma Rossum who played Ridley.

message 175: by Julia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Julia Bekerman Movie in my opinion did not reflect so many key points of the book. The guy casted as the lead was not what I pictured at all. Too bad because I would have loved to see the relationship develop between his best friend and his girlfriends cousin.

message 176: by Daeqwan (new)

Daeqwan Williams It really should be a sequel! The way it ended makes you want more just like Twilight! Love/casting! I was glued to my seat!!!!!! Loved It. Kami/Margaret/Richard Please do the sequel?????????

Crystal I disliked the movie from the start. They cut out Marion, who I absolutely loved as a character in this book. I think that the way they made this movie it would be difficult to continue movies and stay true to the story. They completely changed the end of the movie (compared to the book) and some of the acting was bad. They also cut out multiple parts of the subplots and the relationship between Ethan and Lena, which is the pivotal part of the whole series.

Very disappointed in the movie.

message 178: by Beautiful (new)

Beautiful Creatures I just read somewhere, from a reliable source and I wish I could post the picture on here to proof it, that they are making a second movie. It also says how the second movie will patch things up. I do like the movie, but the books more and they have A LOT to patch up. Also this is second hand information from a reliable source however.

message 179: by Ellie (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ellie Medina I haven't seen anything about them making a second movie. I don't think that they made enough money out of the first movie to make a second one. I went with my fiend and we were the only ones in the theater only a couple days after it came out.

Michael Beautiful wrote: "I just read somewhere, from a reliable source and I wish I could post the picture on here to proof it, that they are making a second movie. It also says how the second movie will patch things up. I..."

Show the source then, I cant find anything on this internet that even mentions a sequel.

message 181: by Klara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Klara Toll I seriously don't care if they do, the first one was so bad that I was screaming internally the whole time. I actually watched the movie before I read the book and thought it was kind of good (thats why I decided to read it) and when I did read it it was some time later so the details of the film were a bit blurred. Then I decided to re-watch it and it was so bad. Everything from start to finish was way off. And I usually think the movie is tolerable if I see it first, but in this case: No, just no.

So, if they do make a second movie, I'm probably going to watch it, but only to see how bad it is...

message 182: by Jessie (new)

Jessie Dyer I love the book and while it's ridiculously different I still really liked the movie and just chose to look at it as being separate from the books but the sequel isn't going to happen plain and simple. The total box-office earning after you deduct the production budget is just over 52 thousand dollar. No way a producers or a studio will want to get on board for a sequel. The best you can hope for is a reboot or maybe a tv mini-series way down the line.

message 183: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez The authors had nothing to do with the movie. Like I said, watch the behind the scenes. You can tell that they were not happy with the movie. They are happy that it was made into a movie and how it was made, but you can tell that they are not 100% happy with it. It was a great movie, but to stick to the story, point blank TERRIBLE...

JEREMY IRONS AND EMMA THOMPSON!!! WOW!!!

Ehh... Not so much Viola Davis on this role. Maybe she needed to come out a little more... But she did do a great job. Sorry but nothing compared to Jeremy Irons!

YA hapiness To be fair, the film didn't make enough money so it would be pointless to make another movie.

message 185: by Robsantos (new) - added it

Robsantos Honestly I really really love the movie everything is perfect. The Actors are really good no stereotype thing they are natural.I love the place and even the soundtrack. Although I still haven't read the book yet but i say the movie is very good. I hope they consider to make a sequel, maybe it would be a hit on the 2nd but they would never know until they try.

message 186: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Parker I found all the book where very good but the film was a complete disappointment how they ended the film was off track to how the book finished. If they did do the next book as a film it be very hard to continue it as some characters where missing from the film

message 187: by Megs (new) - rated it 5 stars

Megs Dennehy I hope not.

message 188: by Emmaredfern (new)

Emmaredfern Redfern Just watched the film and it was was terrible characters such as marion, who run the library in the book wasn't in it and there wasnt any meation of ethans dad and the end was crap they should have made it it similar 2 the book

message 189: by Angela (new)

Angela M Really people if they went by the book the movie would be 5Days long.So give them a break.I love the movie it was Great.

message 190: by Kay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kay I thought they were going to turn the first 3 books into movies, but I may be wrong!

message 191: by Janice (new) - rated it 4 stars

Janice I didn't like the actress cast as Lena. I didn't feel she did a good job. The actor who plays Ethan was amazing! they left out the Amma character, which ruined it for me. she's an integral character. They took Amma and the librarian and made one character. so stupid.

message 192: by Savannah- Quad Motherin' Book Readin' Diva (last edited Mar 26, 2014 11:08AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Savannah- Quad Motherin' Book Readin' Diva I agree with Angela. Lower your expectations as there is only so much a production can do with 90 minutes. I didnt love it and wish some things were different but honestly there is no way to depict what goes on in my head when I get wrapped up in a book.

I do think the casting for Ethan was spot on. Guy was plenty cute enough (he is never described as flippin Edward Cullen or young Brad Pitt) and I thought he handled the accent fine along with giving the role the right amount of earnestness for Ethan.

message 193: by Emily (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emily Brown Brittney wrote: "I believe that I read somewhere that there are no current plans to make a sequel. Also, the movie really didn't do that well at the box office, and in order to ensure a sequel there has to be a cer..."

Agreed. If there was even any initial thought into making a sequel, they wouldn't have concluded the movie so definitely.

message 194: by Isabel (new)

Isabel they changed the book a lot. they would have a lot of explaining to do.

message 195: by Naomi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Naomi Speakman No. I have heard they aren't going through with making another movie. And I'm not surprised, because the book bored me out of my mind and the movie sucked!

Stephanie I hope not! The movie was awful.

message 197: by Aliyah (new)

Aliyah Major I want them to make a sequel

message 198: by Andrea (new) - rated it 5 stars

Andrea I watched the movie, there was alot of key details missing but it still was a good book. Some characters were either not in there or some characters have two parts.I would really like to see another movie but maybe try to be more correct. Like they can start movie two with Ethan deciding to go back to Galtin and finds out that Lena has change. All the problems in the first movie can be easily fixed if they do better on a second movie. So i hope there is another movie. This is a really good movie but just missin a few things.

message 199: by Andrea (new) - rated it 5 stars

Andrea Kanechamberlain wrote: "If I'm honest I really enjoyed the film, and believed that the acting was good and so was the whole film. Although I haven't read the book yet."

You need to read the book, you will then find that yea some things are missing. But overall its a good movie

message 200: by Maddie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Maddie C. If they make another movie I will refuse to even watch the trailers. I hated the movie it absolutely sucked. I loved the first book but I hated the movie so badly. So did my friend I watched it with.
