Ramon Rodriguez The movie was amazing. I enjoyed it. But the overall picture of the story..... IT DID NOT GO WITH THE BOOK OR WILL CONNECT WE'LL WITH THE SERIES! For example, I've heard that the librarian in the book, Marian, has a huge part in the second book....

Overall, don't change the story that is written!
But yes, it was a great movie. I liked the ending when he gets out of the car and she hears him.... But still.... It's not the real story!

๖ۣۜMegan Agreed! Well, sorta. I really hated the movie a lot. But I agree with the rest.

As someone who hasn't had the chance to read the books but saw the movie, I actually didn't hate the movie. It was ok, the acting was good and the dialog wasn't annoying. But I didn't know how far away from the books the movie was. The movie actually kind of made me less interested in the books.

Chloe Vs I don't think so based on the ending of the 1st movie… but you never know!!

๖ۣۜMegan The movie COMPLETELY ruins the books.

Ramon Rodriguez ^^^^^^^^^^^

YYYYUUUUPPPPP!!!!!!!!

message 107: by Monica (new)

Monica Pena Well yeah I I agree that the movies was far away from the books and is sad for me to hear that made you less interested on the books. Books will always be better than the movies, and I learned that a while back. If you ask me, I rather not go to the movies and support these directors and buy books instead and support the author who was creative and not the director and others who kills a good story.

๖ۣۜMegan Agreed. Except for The mortal instruments: City of bones. They did really good on that one.

Savannah- Quad Motherin' Book Readin' Diva I will never in life allow a movie to ruin my enjoyment of a good book. I feel like its an unrealistic expectation to think we'll walk out of a theater with the same feeling we had when we close the last page of a really well written novel. We're asking for a production team to read our minds and cast the perfect faces and condense what took a multitude of chapters with full blown detail and character development into under 2 hrs of telling. Its simply not possible. Even when its a good movie it NEVER comes close.

๖ۣۜMegan I agree completely. They do their best do portray the images from the fans the best they can but it's never the same.

Kaz winge winge winge!!!

I loved the movie!! yes its not like the book, but the actors were unique and not your typical hollywood actors. I hope they make more movies!! And don't forget this movie helps advertise the book for the author. I had never heard of Beautiful creatures and I am now reading the books!

message 112: by Lynn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lynn Agreed the way they completely changed the story line it would be hard to make another movie.

message 113: by Lynn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lynn I do seriously think they should make another movie. It was pretty good. And it left you on a cliff hanger.

message 114: by Lynn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lynn I do agree with Erin. terrible actor for Ethan. fake southern accents made the movie ... i dont know more stupid.

message 115: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Riddle It seems like a movie that younger ones would like...but I really enjoyed it...better than the twilights witch seemed depressing... Would live to c a sequel

The film was messed up if you haven't read the book why are. U in this discussion if I hadn't read the book and just watched the movie I would walk out of there dead confused !!!:(

message 120: by Jordan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jordan Hein I was completely disappointed with the movie. They changed way too many things from the book. And I understand that its never going to be exactly like the book, but some of the things they did change were way too important.
I would have thought it was a good movie had I not read the book first, because I liked the cast they picked. But I don't think it was at all okay that they changed what they did.

message 121: by Kevin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kevin Casella The move was not a reflection of how good the book was, and that was the biggest disappointment for myself. If you are on the fence about seeing the movie after having read the book, I suggest waiting to let a little time elapse in between so you do not break the DVD in your hands. However, that being said, I saw the movie before I read the book and I liked it. Yes, it was chalked up to a fairly typical model of a paranormal teen romance adaptation, but the visual effects almost make up for the flaws in the story.... almost. After I read Beautiful Creatures I was captivated with the story and quickly tore through the series. When I went and rewatched the movie I was slightly disgusted with it. I have rambled for far too long, but my point is this: If you watch the movie, do NOT compare it to the book. Simply enjoy the visual effects and enjoy a book brought to life on screen.

Bethany Jes5ica wrote: "Well it is good to know my friend & I are in good company. The movie was such a let down, but I feel like anyone who did not read the books could easily be dazzled enough to pick up a copy and give..."

I know this is old and all, but i just gotta say that the part of Link becoming part Incubus didn't exactly occur until the end of the second book, Beautiful Darkness. So if they did make a sequel itd have to happen in the second movie. For the most part i agree. The book was amazing. Although i did like the movie i was pretty mad with the fact that they didnt stay true to the book in ost of the movie. It was almost completely different. I do wish theyd make a sequel, just to see if theyd be able to pull it off.. make it better.

Bianca Kanechamberlain wrote: "If I'm honest I really enjoyed the film, and believed that the acting was good and so was the whole film. Although I haven't read the book yet."

I watched the movie before I read the book and I think that if you look at each one individually they are both AMAZING!

message 124: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez Look.... The book was fuckin spectacular! The movie was great! Honestly, the ending was great how he gets out of the car and remembers.. It was a great MOVIE....

Pay attention, I said it was a great MOVIE... Had it not been based on a book. I enjoyed the movie, they just needed to get Aunt Marian into the story and change the ending. Starting from erasing his memory to the end of the movie...

The cast was perfect. Jeremy Irons as Macon. Emma Thompson as Sarafine, Alice Englert as Lena, and that sexy Emmy Rossum as Ridley... Great cast... Two things they needed to change: the end from the memory erasing and Aunt Marian needed to be in it...

message 125: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez I'm still saying it... It would be a great movie series if they recreate it the first movie. Same cast.

The title:
"The Caster Chronicles: Beautiful Creatures"

message 126: by Renata (new)

Renata Veil The book and movie were amazing. I hope they really do decide to make the next movie for the series.

๖ۣۜMegan I doubt they will.

message 128: by Susana (new) - rated it 5 stars

Susana the movie really sucked!!! And the way it ended made it seem like that was it...like if there weren't 3 more books that go after beautiful creatures

Bethany If they do make the rest of the books into movies, none of them are going to be along the same story line, because the first movie was so off in important details. I dont know what theyd do.

Melanie The only good part of the film was Zoey Deutch

message 131: by Laura (new)

Laura Breen I rented the film last night as I have seen absolutely everything else and because a film critic I admire (Mark Kermode) really enjoyed it and I have to say as a film, and my not even knowing about these books, that I really enjoyed it. I definitely found the acting to be enjoyable and more importantly, really good. The young couple were likeable and Emma Thompson was amazingly sinister. It's certainly good enough for me to have woken up this morning and enquire to the possibility of a 2/3 film and to buy the books.

message 132: by Lily (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lily Grigori no. they won't because ethan ends with lena in the book. and they didn't placed characters to the movie. like Lena's cousin, boo radley, the dad, etc. . . they won't make it, talking seriously

๖ۣۜMegan Yeah, but they could work some angle. Something happens to Ridley in the 2nd book. They could work it in. I hope they make it better than the 1st though.

message 134: by Lily (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lily Grigori the book doesn't ends like that. ethan doesn't finishes school, just school year and vacations. but i really think it's a great movie such as the books

๖ۣۜMegan I know, I read the whole series. I'll have to look it up & see if they're gonna make another or not.

message 136: by janet (new) - rated it 5 stars

janet they most likely wont make another movie baecuse (don't read on if you havent read the books)at the end of the movie lena kills sarafine and that dosen't happen until book 3 and like someone else said they cut out lots of imprtant people but i would still wach the 2cd movie!

message 138: by Jide (last edited Dec 06, 2013 09:09AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jide Eguakun I honestly believe that had I not read the book, I would have liked this movie but would have been a little confused with the laws of the magic. One of the main reasons Harry Potter is successful and why the books are so damn long! Is becuase everything is explained in a way that still doesn't make the ending predictable.

Beautiful Creatures was very anti-climatic and in the film. There is no threat. Your lead to believe that there was gonna be some crazy caster battle between Lena and her mother. But it as over so quickly and her mom wasn't even scary. I think becuase twilight was around at the time. Hollwood thought teens would latch on the film and be completely passive.

Beautiiful Creatures is an amazing series in terms of authenticity of the characters. But there so much that isn't explained in book which is why when it was translated to screen it didn't make sense either. Too much is lost and did the director even care? It was like the authors were complete yes men and he read a short synopsis of the story and put his own spin on it.

The film ignored the basic premise of the story. The mashed Amma and Marian together. Deleted the sisters, his mun and his dad. And Link and Ridley where way different to their book counterparts.

The movie was a fail. And even if they had the budget to make a sequel, they have changed so much it could not even be possible. The books are nice quick reads. But the movie was terrible coming from someone who loves the series.

Minken I totally agree with you Jide!

Michael Jide wrote: "I honestly believe that had I not read the book, I would have liked this movie but would have been a little confused with the laws of the magic. One of the main reasons Harry Potter is successful a..."

The movie kept to the book I thought, but the book was very anti climatic which is why a new ending was required they could have never kept the ending to the book or all the characters because it was way to complicated

message 141: by Jide (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jide Eguakun I agree with you Miachel, and I understand that... but sacrficing characters that play a major role in the other books is an insult to people that have read the books and have built a relationshiop with the characters. I can make due with Ridley and Links appearance. Performance is really what matters anyway. But Ethan's dad is in every book mentioned or shown. And every character has their own specific ability. In the movie there seems to be no limit to what they can do.

When would Ridley kill a cop. She would suck on a Caster lollipop and drive off. Lena can't erase memories she controls elements. You cant just add magic to characters for visual effect.

The Songs that Ethan's mom sings to him happens in all the books and is key as to how Ethan and Lena solve problems these characters are the driving force behind the story. I guess I'm just angry becuase I believe this could have been a continual franchise with five movies instead of one.

In fact I think this could have been a tv series called the Caster Chronicles as the books are known as. Like the Vampire Diaries or something. now, I would understand those changes. You can explain the changes with every episode and season.

Michael Jide wrote: "I agree with you Miachel, and I understand that... but sacrficing characters that play a major role in the other books is an insult to people that have read the books and have built a relationshiop..."

I would have love a tv show, just for the sake of it going beyond book 1 and not having to worry about making their budget back,if they had kept the actors and the movie look and added above all of that it would have been paradise. I was upset about the characters being left out also but the movie was long over 2 hours they couldn't have for them in. And Ethan losing his memories and calling lenas name at the end created a powerful and emotional ending at least I thought so. I was just horrified it was six months later which would put the ending of the first movie halfway through book 2. I really want another movie thought ,not just because I loved the first one but I'm curious to see how they handle the situation

Michael Ridley killing a cop emphasized on how evil turning dark is

Michael And what I truly love about the movie is it contains beautiful romance that wasn't in the book

message 145: by Jide (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jide Eguakun I know Miachel. Its just the characters that I mentioned that the film cut out all play a part in what happens in book 2. :D

message 146: by Michael (last edited Dec 06, 2013 12:20PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Michael Yeah, I know, I really want to know how the second movie would've been, I hope that if they do make the second movie they introduce incubuses because that's w ha tb I was most mad about them cutting out

message 147: by Jide (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jide Eguakun And about the killing the cop to emphasize the darkness one of the main reasons we like the characters and why we root for some of the dark caster is becuase they fight the darkness and Lena is so negative about it that there seems to be no hope. In the book Ridley almost makes Ethan's dad commit suicide but stops when Link says something to her. Its love which keeps these characters going. They had already emphasized the darkness with Genevieve story (flash back Lena great grandmother who cursed the family and killed the man she saved from death) Ridley killing someone was so out of character. Ridley's a bitch but she's not a killer.

message 148: by Jide (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jide Eguakun They should have shown Lena's mother Saraphine's story even though it's explained in the second or third book. Her mom's story was shocking and heartbreaking.

message 149: by Jide (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jide Eguakun Yeah why did they even change Macon into a Light Caster?, in my eyes that made him less intimidating. Incubusses are scary when described.

Michael I love the incubus mythology ,but it might've been to confusing to incorporate Macon being one into the movie because they are trying to explain the caster mythology and with he being her uncle, I think that's what they were thinking of when making the film
