What is the worst book you've ever read in your life?

I threw my copy away. Disgusted!!!"
that gotta be bad book 2 read."
im a guy and i thought there were good

Really?
I've heard lots of good things about that one...."
really really sucked"
I gave fahrenheit 451 a five star, liked it a lot.

I love VA!

That's still on my to-read list; I love Bradbury's prose but only tried the German translation of "Fahrenheit" so far - and that was quite a bore to read, I'm afraid Bradbury's style doesn't always translate well.

I loved The Odyssey with a passion.
I've always been obsessed with Greek Mythology and I knew just about every name/character and their backstories before I even started the book itself..."
Yep, Greek myth rules. :)

Obvious answer time! I hated 50 Shades Of Grey and Twilight. Hate hate hate. They were both awfully written and sent feminism back several decades. Not to mention people actually think they're well written! It saddens me to know that most people wouldn't know a good novel if I smacked them in the face with it.
Halo is godawful. The plot is terrible, the characters are unbearable and it demeans several very important, very interesting mythical figures. Not to mention everyone is either a Mary Sue or lacks in development and personality so much that they are worse than one. I didn't even know that was possible prior to this novel. Now I know.
The Kite Runner, which I know a lot of people disagree with. But I loathed this book. Perhaps it was because I did it as a school text, and perhaps it was because of the way the characters were presented to me by my psycho of an English teacher. But I hated the way that everyone protrays Amir and talks about him earning his forgiveness and poor poor pitiful him. He did something wrong, something seriously wrong, and I think he deserved to carry the guilt of that. Sue me.
House Of Night, the entire series. When I first read it I loved it, but upon re-reading it while somewhat older and wiser, I have found that is it awful. Bad writing, Mary Sue characters, blatant promotion of rape culture and slut shaming. The best example is in Marked. If you've read it I'm sure you'll understand what I'm saying.
There's this book that I read once in Grade 4, and it was terrible. It was called Something Special and it was by Emily Rodda. I know. I was appalled and shocked too. But Emily Rodda wrote one of the worst books I've ever read. I can't even remember why I hated it, only that I loathed it with a passion and didn't read another Rodda novel for upwards of six months.
Lastly, because let's face it I could give you a thousand bad books that I hate, is Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh. Wow was it bad. The entire thing was sexual tension, that often times completely crossed the line into sexual harassment and rape, only to conclude with a bad sex scene and a declaration of love. UST does not equal love, people! The whole thing was so bad and Raphael was so damn creepy.
Yeah, so there's a few of the worst books I have ever read. Learn from my mistakes and avoid them like the plague.

I was j..."
I liked it. It's very action packed and yes humorous but it's not the kind of series for everyone

I agree with you on book 5 - 7. Harry became whiny, and the story lost its charm.

Really?

Fahrenheit 451by Ray Bradbury. Its amazingly good, and even more relevant today then in the 80's.

I don't hate you. Stupid Lord of the Rings ripoff."
No offense, but that statement makes me wonder if you've ever read Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

Hahaha, I know. The only character I really liked was Death.

I don't even know how anyone can stomach that series, It sounds like an horror story rather then an "romance".

By Stephenie Meyer? If so, Yeah I finished it.

So, how exactly was HP a rip off of LotR? I'm honestly curious what elements you think they share.

Twilight.
I couldn't take 50 Shades of Grey seriously. It was comedic literature to me, I don't know about anyone else.
Branded by Keary Taylor."
I second Pride and Prejudice, hated it. I forced myself through to the end because I thought I was missing something... but meh, nope.

Lord of the Beasts by Krinard. Didn't even finish half of it.
Amber Moon was okay, but Black Moon and Silver Moon by Bevill were horrible
I read the first 9 books from the Undead series by Davidson, but book 9 (Undead & Unfinished) was so bad that I haven't bothered with the last 2 in that series

I agree. My friends gave me all 3 books and are expecting me to read them all. I read book one once last year. But I have to reread it again since they just gave me books 2 and 3 (almost half a year later after I read book 1).
The reread is kind of painful, but I've read worse books.

Well, honestly, it was rather harsh that I placed it on this list. I couldn't get into it, I wanted to do anything but focus on the book and Katniss annoyed me very much. I ended up giving up on the book (and I don't do that very often). But, after all, it's just my opinion.
However, I am going to try to read it again at some point and re-evaluate my choice to put it here.

I think it's pretty damn good, too, but there are lots of threads on here where lots of people "explain" how it's not good...check 'em out if you're curious.

Because that takes the cake. Other than that, I have to say Great Expectations and The Good Earth. I also will receive a lot of heat for this one, but I despised The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

What's so bad about her books?"
They're not her books. She steals all her ideas.

Moby Dick brings me back to High School. I couldn't stand that book. Felt it was so boring.
