Do you read books once or repeatedly?

I'm the kind of girl who will read the same book over and over again, on the other hand my sister reads a book once and that's it. She doesn't understand why I will read a book so much. What kind of reader are you?

if I like a book I will read it multiple times. also if I'm reading a series and a new book comes out, I'll reread the whole seties. I don't know why I just know I will have forgotten things by the time another book is released lol. :)

I usually read book once, I've got lots of book to be read, so I often do not have time to re-read, but if the book is outstanding for some reason, I get back to it, and read it many times, I've got three or four such book so far.

I've read Huckleberry Finn at least four times, and Don Quixote twice. Also Stranger in a Strange Land and The Left Hand of Darkness (which is one of the best science fiction books ever written. Also Ringworld.

Only once. The only exceptions are for reading discussion groups. Or, if it's a resource type of information that may be referred to again.

Usually I read a book / story only once. Once I've read it, I can never reread it. There was just one book that I rad when i was 12 & i loved it very much. I actually read that book thrice! It was called Mystery of the Witches Bridge and is one of my very favorite books.

I don't read books more than once...not do I typically watch a movie more than once. There are some books that I would love to re-read however I always seem to find a book that I haven't read that calls to me.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who re-reads! To those of you who do, what book would you say you read most frequently? For me it's a toss up between The Harry Potter series and My Sisters Keeper.

I usually read only once, I don't remember if I re-read a book before, but I like to flip pages in search of some passages I liked and re-read them.

I do not reread a book. There are so many good books that strike my interests or my friends always refer me to books they have read and lastly there are the book club selections. I would live to reread one book and that is INDIGO by Beverly Jenkins:)

I typically will read books only once but there are a few that I will read again and again. Some of my favorites to reread are Pride and Prejudice, Canterbury Tales, Harry Potter, Hot Zone and anything by Poe.

I love to re-read books, however with so many new books out there, I do feel kind of bad when I decide to re-read something. But once I get started again on a tale that I love, that guilt quickly fades.

I think some books are meant to be read over and over... you can find new things in re reading that may have been missed on first look

If I like the book, I will will read it multiple times. I've read "Wish You Well" by David Baldacci four times.

I read Pride and Prejudice 7 times. I'm a bookworm and if I like the book I will re-read it again and again. Nobody understands me, but I can't explain them that it's very intersting to feel those reading emotions ones more)

There are too many books on my “to-read-list" that I will never get to in my lifetime let alone re-read. I'm sure there is an exception, (there has to be right?) but I've yet to experience it.

I like to re-read old books, but I usually wait a while until it's not as fresh in my mind anymore. I only re-read the stuff I remember really liking/getting attached to, or stuff I grew up with.

I like to re-read a lot of books, especially those from my childhood. I rarely read them cover to cover, though. I end up with a lot of books that I feel like I might want to read again, which is especially rough in a small apartment. I am out of room.

I like to re-read books book there have to be at-least a year gap before i start to read it again.But i only find myself reading it again if i do not have anything to read at the moment or a scene from it was worth the re-read.

I will re-read my favorites. Sometimes it doesn't work though. I started a favorite by Susan Howatch, Cashelmara, and I just couldn't get through it. It's still a good book though. There are books that I've read 3 or 4 times. Only about 10 books that are re-readable.

The only books I have been able to re-read are the Harry Potter books. Otherwise I find myself remembering what is going to happen right before it happens and that annoys me.

If I have the hard copy I can read it over and over until the binding falls apart, if it's a good book.

I usually read a book once. But when it comes to series, I tend to forget the previous book while reading the current publish book. So I will re-read the series if I have time and if I cannot continue reading the new book without remembering the previous story. Harry Potter definitely is one of the series that I re-read.

I seldom re-read a book. In fact, almost never. Though I might re-read a few that I read when back in the 70s and 80s (to refresh my memory of them.) I would certainly never re-read any book I gave less than four stars to, and probably, really, only ones I gave the full five to.
I have sometimes picked up a book, started getting through it, been bothered by a strangely familiar feeling, and then realized a quarter of the way through that I have read it before but had blanked it out. Thank goodness for Goodreads - now I don't have to remember, I can just look it up.

I totally agree! Some books I would love to re-read some books (and who knows, perhaps I will some time), but there are too many books and too many other things to do...

Wow, I'm so surprised. I read books constantly over and over, well only my faves. They are a perfect read for a icky rain day or when I'm feeling sad and lonely. Certain books are like cuddling up with a comfy blanky on a blustery day. I totally get it! =)

Good books, like good movies, can be re-read if you wait a few years. I recently re-read This Rough Magic by Mary Stewart after about ten years, and it was like a new book (except I remembered who the baddie was).

I'm 50/50 on this: Danielle Steele's The Promise I've read at least 5 times. Other books I've read twice (and want to read again). I have a stack I would love to read again but it's true there are just so many other books to read that's hard to spend time reading one you're already read.

The best rereads I've ever had were the Harry Potter series, though. There's just so much the second (or third.. or fourth.. lol!) time around.

One time, and I am done. I do reread self reliance sometimes. Even if I really enjoy I story I hate to reread it knowing exactly what is going to happen and things they say. It's boring and there many great books out there I haven't ever read so why not try something new?

It depends on how much I enjoy the book. I have read different books well of 30 times and other I have read once and never again. I have re-read and plan to re-read all of the books I really like or love. Some of them I always read once each year.

It depends. Some books are just a one timer. But there are books that just become a part of me. Either I read it during a sad/rough time or it was such a great book, I like to have it in case I'm in the mood for an easy comfortable read. It is like that old college sweatshirt that needs to be retired but it is broken in just right. And please my "to read" list has gotten so long, I need typed in Excel to also include who recommended it. I just found Bill Gates Reading list but I've knocked a few of those back. Who would have thought he read the Hunger Games. Plus with all my usual reading, I really want to reread the classics from US and the I've established I missed that my niece is now reading. Is there a job I can get for all this reading and retire from education where it is so hard to engage kids in reading in general?

I read books only once, but I reread them if I really loved them. The only book I've read countless times is The Lord of the Rings, my all-time favourite. There are so many books in my to-read list that I usually pick up a new one instead of going back to one I've already read.
