Om nom nom. Frozen yogurt, that's yummy too. But yikes! If you're having probiotic yogurt, that's supposed to improve your digestion. o.O

Just found out Suzanne Brockmann will be making an appearance this Wednesday over at the Barnes and Noble Facebook page.

Here's the link in case anyone wants to drop by. She'll be answering questions and talking about her new release Hot Pursuit. Looks like it's an Alyssa centered book. I need to hurry up and catch up with this series cause this book sounds really good.

Hot Pursuit is about Alyssa, but I've read that it's Sam's book. Either way, it's about my favorite couple.

yogurt is good for you. the probiotics in them is very very important to your health

i have a yogurt a day

message 314: by new_user (new)

new_user Me too, Justine! *high-five* It really is very good for you. It's a regulator, and a majority of the population has digestive problems because they don't get any probiotics or fiber in their diet. I mean, yogurt is a staple of our cuisine and I still didn't realize I wasn't having enough. LOL.

You mean like the show? I was thinking about buying it, but my mom did. I think I'll watch hers. If you mean real blood, I'll pass. :)

CaliGirlRae (rae_l) | 2017 comments Mod
Oh! I'd love to see what you think of the show, Danielle. The first season tended to be a bit...um raunchy? But the second season is a little better and more story oriented I think.

And it's actually becoming a drink now!
http://store.hbo.com/detail.php?p=105...

I believe they had a case at the premiere of the show last year but everyone was asking for a real case so a company decided to make it. It's supposed to taste like carbonated blood orange drink (which is actually pretty tasty)!

message 318: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Sees Love in All Colors (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 7331 comments Mod
Cool. Thanks for the link. I wouldn't mind trying the drink.

As for the show, I think it has some good aspects, but as you say, it's way too raunchy and kind of sleazy. I like the paranormal aspects, but I think they focus on the sex too much. I only read the first book, but it didn't have that much sex in it.

I've been watching part of it. Tara's birthday party turned into a bit of an orgy. What's up with Darlene? Is she some sort of pagan goddess or priestess?

CaliGirlRae (rae_l) | 2017 comments Mod
Oh yeah, that's a bit of a twisted story there.

Welp, Tara got all involved with a

Spoiler!

Maened named Maryann. Maened's are followers of the Greek God Dionysus (story here) who are all up into sexual debauchery, screaming craziness and excess hedonism.

From Wiki: "Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication.[1:] In this state, they would lose all self control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear animals (and sometimes men and children) to pieces, devouring the raw flesh. During these rites, the maenads would dress in fawn skins and carry a thyrsus, a long stick wrapped in ivy or vine leaves and tipped by a cluster of leaves, weave ivy-wreaths around their heads, and often handle or wear snakes.[2:]"

Maryann always wandered with this pig and up until this past ep it was believed that the dude who was her servant was the pig but it turns out Daphne was the pig who was luring Sam into what appears to be some kind of ritual so Maryann could put him up for sacrifice maybe? Not sure yet. That part wasn't in the book so I'm not sure where they're going with this. But yeah, that's why Maryann is a crazy lady and got everyone into a crazy orgy lol.

Oh, thanks for the information, Rae. Cool. Sorry, I knew I had the wrong name. Another thing to add to my mythology/folklore lexicon.

message 323: by CaliGirlRae, Mod Squad (new)

CaliGirlRae (rae_l) | 2017 comments Mod
No prob at all! Yeah it's interesting how they weave in mythology like that. This myth seems like it was made for HBO Lol.

The mythology aspect is one thing I really like about the paranormal genre. Which makes me miss Blood Ties even more. :-(

Yeah, that's really a big part of my love for paranormal. The worldbuilding around myths and folklore. You know it's out on video, right? It's $17.99 on Amazon. I'm going to buy it.

It was a good show. Too bad Lifetime didn't give it much of a chance.

Kyle Schmid played on Cheetah Girls one. He liked Gallery (Raven's Character).

Christina Cox. I use to watch her on F/X. I have always thought that she and Stacey Dash from Clueless look alike. I've told one of my cousin this years ago, when F/X was on the air.

I know right. >:-( I'm still so mad about that because everyone really loved it but they kept pushing it out until they complained about ratings. Friday night 1 am, of course there aren't going to be many folks watching! Sigh. :-(

Yeah I didn't buy the US version because they're calling it two seasons when it's really half of one. The UK DVD has the whole season as one including the original theme song in the beginning (see it here - I love this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eI_T9L...). If you can get your hands on that one, get that instead of the US so you'll get the whole season. On Amazon.co.uk they have it at about under 10 bucks (after the exchange rate) but you'll probably need a universal dvd player. If you don't have one, I can point ya to one pretty cheap and it plays anything you throw at it! :-)

Well, girls can give a guy a hard time too, if she likes him. I've watched an episode of Like Family last week and the little boy was getting bullied by a girl, come to find out she bullied him, because she liked him and she didn't know how to tell him that.

I believe in the books that Fitzhenry is in his late teens when he becomes a vampire. So it makes sense that they cast an actor with a babyface. It took me a while to get used to, though.

My friend told me about the Philips DVP 3962 video player. I found one at Walmart for like 40 bucks and that puppy will play discs with Avi (divx encoding), mp3, Jpeg pictures and any region disc once you set it to region free. It's pretty awesome and I think you'd like it. :-) I think there's an upgrade out now but I can't remember what the serial number info is. It's not much higher either, like 60 bucks or so.

Btw, have you seen Charlie Jade, Danielle? (Speaking of UK Dvds hehe)

That's a good point. Fear of rejection makes sense cause that's sort of a mechanism they can fall back on. Kind of a "well, I didn't like you anyway. See how I'm treating you"?

He does have a babyface hehe. Yeah, I think he was like 19 when he died and only ages about like a year or two per century or some such? Since I think he was about 23 on the show. I still remember that ep where they had to go to the club with the medusa gorgon figure and Henry wasn't carded but Vicki was and she's like "If they only knew" lol.
