new_user LOL. Eugenia, it doesn't seem like you're not big on philosophy. ;) Intellect and a practical nature aren't necessarily mutually exclusive anyway. People say I'm harsh too sometimes.

Happy to see LL Cool J in any flick, LOL. Yum. Didja see SWAT?

It kind of bugs me when LL Cool J licks his lips. I really liked him in Last Holiday. That was such a cool movie.

Nothing wrong with being practical and intellectual and looking at things clearly and having opinions on it. I don't have a problem at all with people disagreeing with me. I just want to be treated with respect and I respect other people, even if we don't happen to disagree. That's why I do like chatting with you ladies. We don't agree on everything, and that's okay.

I don't listen to his music, but I do know who LL Cool J is. I have the movie SWAT. I have yet to watch the whole movie. I keep catching parts of it on FX, but I did buy the DVD months ago.

I think that G. Garvin. I think that's his name. He's a chef. He looks like LL Cool J. They could pass for brothers. I know that LL Cool J is an only child, but still, there's a saying that everyone has a twin.

message 54: by new_user (new)

new_user LOL. He never gets old for me. I love that quality to his voice in songs like "Phenomenon." You can imagine him whispering the words in your ear. And I'm with you, Eugenia, about his lips and body. He can lick his lips as much as he wants! LOL.

I love Kingdom Come. That was a good movie. I'm glad he has a good movie career in addition to his rap career nowadays.

Okay I am watching The Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency. Why do we have to subscribe to a premium channel to see this kind of wonderful show that has real characters that are not one-dimensional? Jill Scott is luminous and gorgeous, unashamedly full-bodied. You can't seem to see large women in such a flattering context on network tv or movies, for that matter.

PS I am so in love with Idris Elba. The man is exceedingly fine!!!!! Anyone else like Idris Elba?

Well I'm taping it for my sister. The hotel I'm staying at while I'm stationed out of town for work has HBO. I can send the tape to you at some point.

Idris is sexy period, but even more devastatingly sexy with the British accent (Danielle gnawing on her fist).

message 58: by new_user (last edited Mar 29, 2009 06:50PM) (new)

new_user LOL. I don't think I've ever heard his accent, but I like him. :) Perry's movies always have the best looking men, LOL.

Speaking of accents. Do any of you know who Andrew Dan Jumbo is? I love the way he talks.

re: Andrew Dan Jumbo.
I saw him on your blog, Arch. I don't think I've got to meet him yet. :)

message 61: by new_user (last edited Mar 29, 2009 07:23PM) (new)

new_user LOL, that was Lamman Rucker, Eugenia. He sure was good-looking. Fine is fine, regardless of color, LOL. I've never seen Dhani Jones. My favorite travel show is Globe Trekker. I love that show. Ian Wright has got to be the funniest travel guide I've ever seen. All the other travel shows are so dry you would never know the world's actually interesting, LOL.

please don't give me any more British men to fall in love with, Arch. Aren't I bad enough as it is? Half the people I chat with have no idea who I'm talking about being in love with. :)

message 64: by Arch , Mod (new)

Arch | 6706 comments Mod
Well, Danielle, he is British. I use to love watching him on While You Were Out. He's the reason, why I have started watching While You Were Out. He caught my attention one day and I couldn't stop looking at him. Don't get me wrong, he's cute an all, but he's too old for me.

message 65: by new_user (last edited Mar 29, 2009 07:30PM) (new)

new_user LOL, re: Wright, I don't care much for accent. His sense of humor is great. I had no idea he was in his forties until I saw his bio.

Here's a clip of Andrew Dan Jumbo, when he was on While You Were Out. The show has been cancelled. He would make the show fun to watch. He always wore shirts, with sayings on them. He's wearing on in this clip.

Click on his picture at the top of the page, so the clip can start.

Funny that- I thought the same of the Batman film that the dead actor got the Oscar for. To me there was just too much violence in it! I didn't really enjoy it at all

I thought about seeing that but I like Jack Nicholson Joker too much. I don't know. I'm still in the daze when superheros were fun rather light fare instead than dark and gritty. I get too much dark and gritty in real life don't want it in my entertainment lol.

As a matter of fact, it's time for a Batman circa 90s rewatch! Lol.

I loved The Dark Knight. It was gritty and dark but the violence wasn't over the top. I adore Christian Bale. I take my chances to watch him. Never will watch American Psycho though. I don't even think you can compare Punisher War Zone and The Dark Knight. It's like comparing a porn movie to Dangerous Liaisons. (both movies about sex and seduction but way different in content and tone).

message 70: by new_user (new)

new_user Yeah, The Dark Knight was disturbing but there was much more to the movie than just that. Also, if you haven't seen Christian Bale in Equilibrium, you must. He's great. I really liked him in Yuma too.

message 71: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Sees Love in All Colors (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 7331 comments Mod
Oh I love Equilibrium. Yuma just killed me. You know me and my need for happy endings. Bale's character deserved better than what he got. I could write an essay on that movie.

PT (spinsterpt) | 319 comments My new obsession: selling stuff on ebay. I put about 10 books up for sale and the majority of the auctions end today. Therefore, I have been glued to the computer. Mostly, I have been back and forth between here and ebay. Plus, they are having a special where you can list ten items without paying a fee. So, no harm no foul if nothing sells. Not everything is selling, but one of my Lora Leigh books is selling for more than I bought it for. That's pretty weird to me, but I won't question money. At least, not after it's paid.

new_user *squeal* Ryan Reynolds! LOL. I'm going to be all over this movie. I love X-Men. Jackman was made for that role -I like him best in that movie, who knew he would relate to that character so well?- and that pic really captures the dramatic comic-book tone of the movie.

PT (spinsterpt) | 319 comments One of my friends is obsessed with Ryan Reynolds. I think he's OK. Despite my complete redundancy, I must say that Dwayne Johnson is it for me.
If I must pick one of the X-Men, I am still for Gambit. I don't know this Taylor Kitsh fellow, but he can master that Cajun accent, I am all in.

Lonestarpt,

What's a Cajun accent?

message 97: by new_user (new)

new_user You can hear him in the link. His accent is so-so (I'm still remembering the cartoon version- hey, he had a great accent), but I think after the first few minutes you get used to it.

message 98: by PT (new)

PT (spinsterpt) | 319 comments Oh my goodness, you haven't heard a Cajun accent.
I have added a click on Justin Wilson. He's a famous chef and he has thick accent. I love it!

Lonestarpt, I'm from Louisiana. Not New Orleans, not even close. I just wanted to know what others see as a Cajun Accent.

I have to say though, when I read about a sexy man that has a Cajun accent, I don't think of him sounding like Justin Wilson.

message 100: by PT (last edited Apr 14, 2009 08:24PM) (new)

PT (spinsterpt) | 319 comments I like Justin Wilson's accent. I don't think he's cute but add a little bit more bass into his voice and I could dig it. That's just me though.
