What we're listening to

Nope, he's American, and it does ruin a lot :-(
But he does an OK job and I tend to forget about accents when I listen, as long as the voice doesn't suddenly change for a character
I finished listening to/rereading Snowball in Hell last night. I love how Josh's LA stories work in descriptions of the architecture and its history, including the contemporaries like AE. Anyway this was a treat and of course I had to reread Doyle & Spain's Christmas coda.
This is also a request (to one of our fearless moderators?) for updates to the GR editions for this book, specifically adding the audiobook. The Kindle version of the 2011 edition is missing too. And maybe a Snowball in Hell story discussion page could be added? I don't ask much. ; )

Under Story Discussions, Snowball in Hell is talked about in The Doyle & Spain Series thread. :)

Thanks, Susan! Not sure how I missed that.

The fearless moderators are back from the Polar Circle and are going straight to work. ;-)
I added the audiobook edition. The Kindle of 2011 was actually there but with the wrong cover so I corrected that one. I'll be looking into the topic for Snowball in a second. :-)
ETA: You can find Snowball in the topic for "The Doyle & Spain series".
ETA2: Of course you already figured that one out. Sometimes it helps (me) to read on... ;-)

I like that description of Doyle. Yes. That's exactly it. It's not prissy, not affected. You can hear at once he's coming from a different background from Spain, but regular and realistic.

I hope you all had as much fun as it seemed like from here!

After a bit of bumpy start we had very wonderful day, including petting tame reindeer and wild reindeer on the road. (I could't believe it but they are really so dumb that they don't leave the road when a car approaches but rather stop and look at the car or go a little more to the middle so the oncoming traffic has a little fun too.^^)

These two are such troopers! Our adventurous day ended in front of the bookshelf, discussing books and reading habits. It's funny how you really, really don't want to go to sleep when having fun and good laughs with friends (even though you're tired and it's already 2:00 a.m.). ;-)

Thanks, Calathea! Great photo, Johanna, and reindeer commentary, C. And there you are "working" while on vacation. ; ) I love imagining the three of you enjoying your late night talks.

This is so cool! :-)

:-)
I've encountered cows that like to do that. :)

Take Me to Church -- I had heard this song before but had not seen the video. Warning: It is hard to watch (gay bashing) but wow:

I came across this interview where he talks about the video and gay rights, etc.

This sounds so much fun! Love the reindeer.

And sheep and goats. Some animals are really not very smart, are they? Not like us humans. They don't even know how to make weapons or anything... ;)

Great picture:)

One of their video had 420 millions views, even though the original intent was to make the silliest video ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jofNR_...
In fact the videos are produced for their weekly program. Here is an hilarious excerpt from the program: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JofRc_...

I remember that ridiculous Fox song, LOL. I didn't know they were Norwegian. Thanks for the ear worm. ;-)

Welcome to the crazy world of Ylvis!
Yup, I'm a little confused by that one. But hey, looks like they did get some good shots of my work place! Lol. That surprised me. From what I can tell, it looks real. I'll have to share this with my coworker.

It's not to be taken seriously, if you do, you are definitely going to be confused :). It is deliberately obscure, I think.

No one can pronounce Danish. Not even Copenhagen Danes ;D

Of course the library was the first thing we noticed, but also the gay theme is present. BTW I was surprised to see that some people in the US interpreted the video as slightly homophobic. It is a parody.

I'm enjoying checking out all the music you've been posting lately, Valerie. Thanks! :)

I also bought Rhys Fords Dirty Laundry, got it for 1,99 since I already have it as a ebook.
So I think I'm set for this vacation ;)

Let us know if you try their famous treat, sheep eyes O.O

Earl is the Earl of Vampires, skinny, grey haired with a bad comb-over. He is traveling with Duke, Duke of Werewolves.
They stop at an all-night diner which gets attacked by zombies in the middle of their dinner. Hilarity ensues. There are even zombie cows...
This is a spoof on the urban fantasy genre, and I loved it when I read it years ago. It's even better in audio.

Glad you like. :) I seem to be more interested in listening to music than reading lately.

I read a couple of his books, they're fun.

Yes they are. My favorites are this one and The Automatic Detective. I love the world-building in that one. The future according to the 1930s... I have Detective on audio, too. Haven't listened yet.

That's good to know. The Automatic Detective has been patiently sitting on my bookshelves for a few years now. I did start it once, thought it had great potential, but somehow i wasn't in the mood. But i think i'd probably enjoy it more now anyway.
Just finished Dark Edge of Honor and I can't recommend this one highly enough. I was completely blown away, drawn in, and found it hard to put it down.
And yes, the narrator, as most of you already know, is beyond fantastic.
I'm actually kind of upset that it's over. What do I listen to next? This one will take time to fully digest. Lol.

The Dark Farewell now in audio. http://bit.ly/XjCCQV
Completely mis-classified as usual (this title went under "sexuality and erotica"!!).
But at least it's available and Max Miller does a terrific job with it.

What?! O.O
At least this explains why they recommended Shades of Grey to me in the sidebar. Ugh.
Does Audible the classification on their own or do you have input on that and they made mistake? (I mean, it's a their mistake anyway...)

They figure it out themselves -- and they don't appear to pay attention the book's regular listing. It's very bizarre. I haven't had a book debut under GLBT fiction for six months. They always come up as something different, and so of course that affects hitting the bestselling lists.

Is the narrator Australian? Last time I listened to the sample it was an American.
