I was wondering what type of books you think can be considered historical fiction?

For example, the two books below. Do you think that they can be part of historical fiction?

Ophelia by Lisa M. Klein and Lady Macbeth's Daughter by Lisa M. Klein

Elinor | 26 comments I would say that those two books would be historical fiction. They were written as historical fiction by Shakespeare so that sort of of makes them historical fiction. I've said historical fiction too much. Haha

Emma Louise I wouldn't really consider this as historical fiction because it straight-up denies actual facts like how, I think, there was never a prince of Denmark called Hamlet or a king of Scotland named Macbeth. If you took books based off of Anthony and Cleopatra for example, it would be.
Still great books though!

Laurel Rockefeller (laurelarockefeller) | 11 comments Shakespeare also did a lot of pseudo-history. I found this out after writing a short biography of Queen Catherine de Valois ("Kate" as Henry V calls her in Shakespeare's play). Based on Shakespeare, you would think that Henry and Catherine knew each other while he was on the campaign that ultimately ended with the October 25th, 1415 Battle of Agincourt. In fact, Henry and Catherine did not meet until 1419, over three years after Agincourt.
