Of course, I was fairly jet-lagged at the time I watched his you-tube clip - so it's quite possible I missed his point altogether. If Washer's suggesting there is something humans have to do to secure their own salvation (repent, clean up their act...then grace...then keep repenting and act cleaning) I've gotta side instead with the reformers: grace alone. On the other hand, if Washer's simply pointing out that many more people claim Christianity than actually follow Christ, I'd agree with that. What's Barna's stat? Something like 75% of Americans self-identify as 'Christian'...but only 9% of Americans identify with a Biblical view of Christ.
