Shell (shellcampbell) | 341 comments I really enjoyed Rage - I only own it as part of The Bachman Books: Four Early Novels by Stephen King (both paperback and hardcover). I have The Long Walk on my 2013 list - I've heard so many good things, I can't wait to read it.

Squire (srboone) | 93 comments Let us know when you're ready for The Long Walk. It's due for a reread, anyway.

Squire (srboone) | 93 comments King books I'm up for a buddy read on this year (other than Joyland and Doctor Sleep when they come out): The Long Walk, Pet Sematary, Different Seasons, Night Shift, Carrie. Don't know when I'll be ready for them, but I typically ready more than one book at a time.

israelv | 12 comments I'm up for a buddy read of Carrie. And I'm hoping to complete reading it just in time for the new movie remake.

I wonder if the move from March to October is because due to postproduction tinkering or because it's going to be an Oscar-contender...

message 60: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 341 comments Ah, I didn't think of that Squire!

Hey guys, sorry but I'm going to give Lisey's Story a miss. I need a quick read at the moment. If anyone wants to join me I'm going to start Misery.

I'll really be looking forward to hearing what you all think of Lisey's Story - I've heard mixed reviews. Enjoy!

message 61: by israelv (new)

israelv | 12 comments Will try to start reading Carrie tonight or tomorrow. If anyone wants to join me please feel free :)

Squire (srboone) | 93 comments I found my paperback copy of Carrie (took me 90 minutes--I have a LOT of pbs), so I think I'll join you! It'll only take me 1 or 2 daysto read it, so I'll probably wait til you say you've started.

Through part I. Was wondering your thoughts on combining different faux-sources with King's actual narration. I find it eccentric to say the least. The differening viewpoints make the tale interesting. Fortunately, the symapathic characterization that King would become known for is definitely there amd holds the story together fairly well.

I'll read it with you. It'll be my second time but I'm excited for the series and I can refresh my memory. Plus there's always something so filling about devouring one of Stephen King's massive novels.

message 75: by Lianne (new)

Lianne | 4 comments I' m looking for someone, or more, to do a buddy read of IT with me. What I was thinking was we could read it in sections, so that we could have some detailed, spoilers included, discussions. For the 1st part, I thought that reading Book 1 & the 1st Interlude would be a good way to begin. If anyone wants to join me, just let me know. I can start anytime.

message 76: by Felipe (new)

Felipe Gálvez Valenzuela (er_felipe) | 24 comments Hi everyone! I've just finished La Cupula, now and looking at my bookshelf trying to identify my next reading. Does anyone want to do some buddy reading? I've been thinking on:

Pet sematary
The green mile
Cujo
Misery
Thinner
The dead zone

These are the books I own, so... If you are interested just let me now (two or more people would be better, since this is the first time I try this I don't want to disappoint anyone, besides, English is just a foreign language to me)

Saludos!!

message 77: by Sam (new)

Sam (thebookhobbit) I would like to read It and I don't want to do it alone. Who wants to read it with me???

message 78: by Holly (new)

Holly | 434 comments Sam, still interested in reading It?

Anyone interested in reading The Talisman with me?

message 79: by Stephanie (last edited Jun 09, 2014 02:49PM) (new)

Stephanie (einahpets_reads) Holly -- I am actually currently reading Talisman, about 10% in.

Since I am still fairly new to Stephen King and Wizard and Glass broke my heart, I am taking a break from the Dark Tower buddy read and delving into some of his other books recommended here.

Talisman and Black House were both on that list, so I decided to give them a try. I am going to try and read both, but would love to chat with someone about Talisman as I make my way through it!

message 80: by Dee (new)

Dee (dee05) I am currently reading Harbour by John Ajvide Lindqvist, original theme, anyone interested to join me?

message 81: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Leoni | 180 comments in a couple of weeks I think I'm gonna start reading The Wind through the keyhole. Anyone interested to join?

message 82: by B (new)

B Hi Andrea. I might read that with you! However, I haven't read all of the series before. I have just finished Wizard and Glass so chronologically I should be up to the Wind Through the Keyhole. I am facing the dilemma over whether to read it in order of publication date or where it sits in the series...what do you think?

message 83: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Leoni | 180 comments mmm, I don't know, before starting it you should ask someone who's already read it. I would say to you to start reading it, but it would be a jump in the dark, and who know what you might come across to, spoilers of some sort...

I've already read the whole DT saga so I'm not in any real "danger"

message 84: by B (new)

B Hmm I might pass then and continue by publication order. Sorry about that!

message 85: by Stevo (new)

Stevo (stevop) | 230 comments Hey, Ongakuize. The Wind Through the Keyhole slots right in between Vol IV and V, no spoilers or anything to worry about. I've been rereading the DT and slotted TWTtK in as 4.5 and it fitted well - its just more backstory and stuff, nothing about future plot points. I was actually impressed how well it ties to the events that have just transpired in Wizard & Glass. :)

message 86: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Leoni | 180 comments thanks for the clarification Stevo...

message 87: by B (new)

B Yeah thank you! Maybe I will read it with you then...when do you want to start?

message 88: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Leoni | 180 comments I don't know. I could start right away, I'm reading I Robot by Asimov on my Kindle, but The Wind through the keyhole is sitting by my desk and I could start it any time...

message 89: by B (new)

B I have to get it from the library so I won't be able to start immediately. I'll be able to tell you tomorrow when I can :)

message 90: by B (new)

B hey Andrea, I've got the book now! Ready when you are :)

message 91: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Leoni | 180 comments I'm ready too! see you in Mid-World

message 92: by B (new)

B great! So do we need to make a new topic for it?

message 93: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Leoni | 180 comments I don't know, there's already a Buddy read topic on the book, I think we might comment over there

message 94: by Holly (new)

Holly | 434 comments So, I was thinking of doing a re-read of IT sometime in July, beginning of August at the latest. Would anyone care to join me?

message 95: by Kenneth (new)

Kenneth McKinley | 277 comments I'll be starting a reading challenge here this month to reread (and in some cases read for the first time) all of King's work in chronological order. It will be one book a month. That will give me time to read other things so I don't get burned out. Now I'm not asking anyone to join the challenge with me (although you're more than welcome to), I'd like to break each book into their own buddy reads. So, with that being said, is anyone interested in joining in reading Carrie as a Buddy Read?

message 96: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments Ken wrote: "I'll be starting a reading challenge here this month to reread (and in some cases read for the first time) all of King's work in chronological order. It will be one book a month. That will give me ..."

If the books you are reading have already been done as a Group Read you can just bring back the dead thread. There is the advantage that you will get LOTS of POVs because it will have been discussed already. You can simply continue to post in that thread as you progress.

This group has always been pretty good about marking spoilers so it would be safe to the integrity of your first time reads.

I know it's not Stephen King, but it is his son haha

If anyone fancies being my buddy that would be great ☺

That is definitely on my list. I wish I could start it with you now, but sadly, cannot at this time. Possibly one in the future though for sure if it was also a common ground!

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Hey... this has to be a great and bazaar christmas read. Good luck, I'm too committed to join in but I have to say it's a great book. Ands BTW the audio book read by Kate Mulgrew of Star Trek fame, is wonderful.
