ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments I agree. Normally I don't comment, even if I'm upset about something because it seems insignificant in the big picture....
But I spend a LOT of time on this site and this genuinely makes me sad.
I'll check back daily to see if its resolved, but I actually already have a headache, so for today, I'm closing the tab.

Janina (sylarana) | 692 comments It looks fine to me. I can barely tell the difference tbh .. i like the new font as it's a bit clearer ... however, the light blue color is not ideal. A darker grey or taupe would have been a better choice both optically (reflecting the design colors) as well as for readability. I love the font .

message 1953: by Nick (new)

Nick (fire69) | 150 comments I like both the font and the color. Makes it easier for me to read all the way through. Im not sure I understand what you guys mean by blurry text? It looks pretty crystal clear to my eyes, even the italics.

I've been on the app all day... I need to go check out the site!

It looks so strange. It's definitely going to take some getting used to. Just typing this, I can barely tell if there are spaces between my words. If you look at the link Ally posted above, some people hate the changes, but others love it.

I feel like there are other changes too, regarding update links, but I didn't see anything about it, so maybe that's just me?

Has anyone tried adding a book link yet? There is now something at the top that says, "Add a reference:" What is that all about?

message 1957: by ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (last edited Dec 15, 2015 07:41PM) (new)

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments They have improved the blurriness a bit, the white is still overwhelmingly bright in my opinion.... small victories?

I guess I should note it looks A LOT better on my samsung tablet than on my desktop computer.

I think its the same, they just gave it a name. LOL!

message 1959: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments I love the new font...
However I still have the add book/author button not "add a reference" lol

Virginie (chouettblog) | 350 comments Is is me or the background is a little too white?

message 1961: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Paulina wrote: "Hahaha no, she kind of hates reading..."

I never understand people like that. I really pity them. It's very sad.

message 1962: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Actually, I like the new font. But they said they made several changes and I've only really noticed the font change. But a lot of people hate it. They should probably add something in "Settings" for people to customize the site. You know, pick your font, pick your colors, etc.

It's when you click on add a book. At the top, it says add a reference. It doesn't appear to be clickable though, so just something weird that they added.

Such a strange thing to add! lol

Elle | 14 comments Glad to see I am not alone having problems adjusting to the new site changes. The bright whiteness and severe glare makes me dizzy and queasy. I wonder if since I wear glasses I maybe having more of a severe reaction since some of you seem to be okay with it? It's never fun being 4 eyes :)! I hope they fix these problems soon!!!

I wear glasses too and having problems. What about everyone else?

message 1967: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6868 comments Mod
No glasses...the white doesn't bother me. I'm ok with the font most of the time too. I have great eyesight and sometimes the font is too small when I'm typing for me to see. Only in certain boxes though.

message 1968: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments No glasses for me.

message 1969: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I have glasses and I love the new font. Is it the same on the app? Or did they leave it the same?

App is the same for now . . . at least the Android version is . . .

message 1971: by Nick (new)

Nick (fire69) | 150 comments I have glasses and am having no issues at all with dizziness or queasiness.

message 1972: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments Maybe it's a thing with Mac versus PC. I have a MAC and no problem on my computer.

message 1973: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6868 comments Mod
MAC here too.

And no changes on the cellphone app either - iPhone.

message 1974: by Nick (new)

Nick (fire69) | 150 comments I have a Mac as well as an iPhone, and have no problems on either. Though to be honest, I use the iPhone app so very infrequently, I would have no idea if there were changes or not.

message 1975: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments I love the little summary Goodreads has developed "Your year in books". Has anyone checked it out?

I still wanted to compare my years but couldn't find the stats feature that normally appeared on my reading challenges. Well if anyone is interested I found it. You have to go to "My books" and then click on stats (3rd option from the left on the menu). It was well hidden. I never look at that menu.

message 1976: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments Just another comment about My year in books.
It's weird that they released it now and not in two weeks. I know for a fact that I will have at least one or 2 more books finished by the end of 2015.

message 1977: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Yeah, I've been thinking the same, Savanes. I will definitely have at least 5 more to add within the next two weeks. :)

I already did My Year in Books. It was interesting to see. I think it said somewhere that it would update with additional books read. I could be wrong though.

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments 2 weeks ago I replaced my cracked windshield.
Today I get in my car and what do I see? A crack.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

I mean, thank god for insurance and I only have to pay a $200 deductible and not the $900 I saw on the invoice... But 2 weeks?

I am praying they tell me this windshield was defective....

Ally, that absolutely sucks! Isn't there some type of guarantee or warranty from whoever replaced it?

I think that falls into the Murphy's Law category.

message 1983: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) It really just depends on the company and if they can determine how it broke. If there is a clear impact point, then they will say no. If they have had a line of defective, they will often report and return to the manufacturer, replacing it for you for free. (I had that happen once with Foxx Glass in Aiken, SC. They have half their clients calling back within the month because of the glass cracking again. They knew it was a problem from the manufacturer and replaced everyone's for free. Super awesome of them!) Hope you have a good company come out and fix it!

message 1984: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Great blurb for a drama on BBC Radio 4 Extra:

Tracing your ancestors can be fun, as long as they are quite, quite dead. Stars Elizabeth Mansfield and Peter Dahlsen.

There is some severe flooding going on in the UK at the moment and the lovely city of York that I live in is one of the worst affected.

I can't really complain because my home is currently safe (and will hopefully stay that way) but I've just spent 24 hours without a landline or mobile and therefore no internet. It was bloody awful!

Here's a video of how bad it is https://www.facebook.com/Flashheart.W...
Personally I'm ok but one of the restaurants I work for has been caught up in this - 4.40 Wamgate on the video

message 1990: by Nick (new)

Nick (fire69) | 150 comments Lynn, glad to hear you are safe and like you said, hopefully stay that way! Keeping my fingers crossed that the water stays away from you!

Wow...that flooding is just awful. Glad you are safe in your home, even though it interfered with your services. I love that before the video they state that, "York has a bit of a damp problem." Slight understatement there.

message 1992: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Lynn, keep my fingers crossed for you to stay safe. I have observed the flooding in social media for the last couple of days, but it slipped my mind that you are in that localization....

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) What is everyone doing for New Years? I am planning my schedule for book releases and promotions next year, working on goals lists with my family, and probably watching Merlin! We are Netflixing and on season 2. We love to binge, so we waited a bit on this one!
