Only I would win a book th..."LOL! I've never won a book here on GoodReads. (Though I have won some from retweeting things.)
Does anyone know how to tell how far you are into a book on Audible? I want to be able to update my progress on Goodreads, but I can only find the amount of time left, not percentage read or anything like that.
Kristie wrote: "Does anyone know how to tell how far you are into a book on Audible? Kristie wrote: "Does anyone know how to tell how far you are into a book on Audible? I want to be able to update my progress on Goodreads, but I can only find the amount of time left, not percentage read or anythi..."same here, I cannot tell how far along I am so had to guess
Donna - Cell phone w/ Audible app, though I'm sure I could get it on my Kindle Fire or laptop if that was the only way to look it up.
Beth - Glad I'm not the only one!

I do the same - cell phone. My Kindle is too old for audible but I actually like using my phone - I stick it in my pocket and cook, clean and walk the dog while I am listening.
The Audible app for the phone has a feature that tells you your progress in the book. But it's not helpful for Goodreads purposes. You know the progress bar which shows you how many minutes into a chapter you are, and how many minutes you have left? If you tap the settings icon next to your phone's home button, and select "Settings" and then "Playback Settings", then tap "Progress Bar" you have a choice of "Per Chapter" or "Full Book". Now the progress bar indicates on the right how many minutes are left in the book. It will NOT show a percentage or page numbers. Sooo.... the app can't tell you what you need to know. They should really fix this! Amazon owns Audible and Goodreads, and they must be aware there's a problem here, dontcha think?
I find the phone app the most convenient since I've always got my phone with me in the car, BUT... for tracking my progress on Goodreads, I need to have the book downloaded on my Kindle Fire too. On your carousel on the home screen, the percentage appears on the cover of the audiobook. Also, if you tap the bottom of the screen while the book is "open" you can toggle through to view your progress as page numbers or percentage. :-)
Beth - I love it on my phone too. It is so convenient as I always have it with me.
Donna - Thank you! I might send an email to suggest this as a possible upgrade to the app. I will look into the Kindle app too.
Heather - I may have to guesstimate for a while too. Hoping the Kindle app works out when I have time to check it out.

I have been before, it's one of my all time favourite places. Very excited though, this is my choir trip to sing in Carnegie Hall.
(Currently sat in the airport bored mind you!)

Have a wonderful trip, Lynn! Singing at Carnegie Hall is very exciting! :) (You will only be about a four hour drive away from me. I live just north of Boston in Massachusetts.)
Wow, Lynn, that's amazing!! I'd love to go to New York someday...Have a great time and good luck with your gig! :)
Kristie wrote: "Does anyone know how to tell how far you are into a book on Audible? But when I used to listen to it on other devices I used to estimate it by dividing parts read by total parts.
How wonderful, Lynn! Carnegie Hall, no less! Will you have time to play tourist, or is your schedule tight?
I'm not feeling good, stomach ache. I'm going to lay down when I get home for a bit. I just had to email a lawyer about my conservator not doing her job.

Most of the time will be rehearsing but we get some free time ..... have most tourist things in previous trips though. Fabulous hotel location though, right on times square :)

whoo-hoo! Donna Tartt has won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her novel The Goldfinch. It is an amazingly good effort and she does deserves this acknowledgement.
I haven't had a chance to read it yet, I am on the library waitlist with over 100 people in front of me lol I'm looking forward to reading it though I've heard really good things. Awesome that it won an award too!
LOL!! Kelsi, how many copies does your library have? That's usually the problem. Mine has 14 copies and there is only one hold. But it's 700+ pages, so I think I'll go with the Kindle copy first.
There are 40 copies (which sounds like a lot but it's not lol) I have been waiting since January and as of today I am up to number 94 in line...might be worth getting the ebook version haha
Our library has a rule that if a book has lots of reserves on it, each reader is allowed only two weeks reading time rather than the normal three weeks. Not a bad idea but not good if you are a slow reader, have hectic work/family life.
Oh that's a good idea, I think when I originally put a hold on it there was something like 190 people in front of me so the line is moving but very slowly. My library does quick reads which are one week loans but that's usually only on really new books.
Is there a buddy read for The Goldfinch set up? If not we should do one....but I am on 181 waiting list!
I would love to do a buddy read for it :)
Yay! I'm looking forward to it!
Nobel Laureate author Gabriel García Márquez of Love in the Time of Cholera and One Hundred Years of SolitudeOne Hundred Years of Solitude has died at age 87.A great loss to the literary world.
Kirsten wrote: "Oh, no! That is so sad."I know:( I feel like I should re-read both books in his honour.
RIP - I read Love in the Time of Cholera last year, now want to get to One Hundred Years of Solitude, which I think I will like better

Kristie, all the best for your birthday, and indeed, the bookmark is a truly thoughtful present for an avid reader :)
Thanks Alicia. My bday is tomorrow, but my family was over for Easter, so they celebrate then. Of course I think he is adorable. :)
