Kate this has just come up on a book recommendation I was sent this afternoon. The Bone Season (Scion, #1) by Samantha Shannon
Not released till 20/08/2013, but got rather excited at the prospect of the series!!

I didn't know this thread existed!! Have just added the suggestion there. Saw it was in your list near the beginning of the thread....

Lynn | 4471 comments Mod
Indeed Kate, but I've only just added it because of your suggestion :)

Jenn S. (Book Buzz) (jennsbookbuzz) | 64 comments The Queen is coming up as a monthly read for July and I was wondering if anyone knows if the movie "The Queen" was based on this book? or if they are similar...maybe someone has read the book and seen the movie :)

Ok...I just got completely spoiled and need to share!! I went to Barnes and I was looking for City of Bones for our buddy read next month and just sort of picking up books as I went. Then, unfortunately, City of Bones was sold out. So, as I was sorting through all the other books I had picked up, deciding which to get, my fiance picked them all up and said "get them all" and bought them all for me!! (I had to use my Amazon gift card that he gave me for my birthday to buy a school book instead of fun reads, which was a bummer, so he did wanted to "make up for it". lol) So....I just got:

The Maze Runner
Tell the Wolves I'm Home
Legend
Matched
The End of Your Life Book Club
The Repeat Year
A Week in Winter

I think this guy's a definite keeper. (Of course, he doesn't realize that if he keeps this up he's going to have to buy me a new bookshelf as well!!)

message 571: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Someones a lucky girl!! Definitely a keeper!!!

message 573: by Brightness (last edited Jun 06, 2013 09:35PM) (new)

Brightness (brightnessreads) | 429 comments Kristie that is one special guy you have there!

...does he have any brothers? ;)

message 574: by Liana (new)

Liana (lianasiobhan) | 27 comments Awesome :-) Definitely a keeper Kristie!!! Let me know what you think of Matched. I was looking at that the other day and didn't know whether or not I wanted to read it.

message 575: by Alycia (new)

Alycia (bookhound18) Matched was really good, Liana! However, the sequel I never did finish. It plods along too much to me.

message 576: by Alycia (new)

Alycia (bookhound18) Kristie- Nice!!! I would definitely say he's a keeper. :)

Lol Karlee - I get asked that a lot. :) Unfortunately he and his brother are VERY different. I'd love it if he had a bunch of brothers just like him that I could set up with all my friends! :)

Thanks, everyone! So exciting to get a bunch of new books.

Liana - I will let you now, though I'm not sure when I'll get to it. I have so many books on my to read list right now! I wasn't sure about that one either.

message 578: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Kristie, that is really something. If the guy buys books knowing you're going to be spending your time reading, and doesn't worry and isn't jealous of those books, he is sooooo very a keeper :) Lucky you :) (I must share here that my hubby is such person as well, he bought me my Kindle this year ;).

message 579: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Anima - That's wonderful! Great guys think alike. I think it helps that often my head is resting on him while I'm reading at night. So, he doesn't feel completely left out. :) Plus, he's started to ask, "So, how are your friends on Goodreads doing?" lol Which reminds me, Joanne - He is very impressed with your 15K. :D

message 580: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments What a wonderful haul of books Kristie :-).

That man is definitely a keeper!

I'm working Saturday, but I have Sunday off! I'll probably clean my house and pack...nothing fun. Sounds like you have a nice weekend planned Joanne. :)

Thanks Cathie!! Now I want a donut!!!

message 593: by Felina (new)

Felina I wonder if that book is available for free downloads this weekend because Friday was national donut day.

Joanne - how did you train for your 15K? I'm training for a Zombie 5K in October but my progress has been lacking lately. Any suggestions?

message 594: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments lol, I don't think so ... but that is interesting Felina :-).

I know the author and I think it's just part of her Amazon sales strategy.

Vanessa wrote: "I so want to do a zombie run! It looks like so much fun. We don't have those in France though!!"

You may have to come visit us in the US again!

message 597: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Felina, I used c25k. Then I got bored of it and took the basic idea and do my own thing. When I'm tired I walk, when I'm not then I run. I listen to my body. It seems to be working, I did a race yesterday and got my time down another minute.

There is also an app called Zombie, Run! That looks good, you listen to a zombie story and run when the zombies are chasing you!

Joanne - That zombie run app sounds hilarious! That might actually get me running. As long as I'm not laughing at it while trying to run!

message 600: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I don't have it. I often run early morning or late evening....I'd get too freaked out with zombies chasing me!
