This book was seriously my favourite in the series and I swear I am the only one. Also for people who comment on it, I don't give a shuck about the ending! I hated it too, but this book is still my fave.

Sarah hi em I just finished this book today and I agree it was the best, the ending was pretty much what I expected it to be, great series hope they make the movies for them all.

Sam (VanillaFountain) I loved it. I loved them all. Read them in two days :)

Giada Chuss Personally, I loved it, really! But I didn't really like the ending ('cause I hoped Catnip and Gale would be friends forever!) but the book itself was amazing!

message 5: by Trine (new) - added it

Trine I don't understand why people hate the ending so much - it is far more realistic than so many other books! And even though I don't think it's exactly a happy ending, it's an ending I think is as happy as it could be.

Philip Paul I liked the first book, except for the last 4 words:

"End of book one"

Vivid Light ~ ♥♥ Meh, I thought it was pretty slow but overall still ok. It was realistic (love your use of shuck!)

message 8: by Hec (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hec Hernandez i loved the books couldnt sop reading them until it was over :(

Erin O'Riordan I thought it was the strongest of the three. Loved 'em all, but 'Mockingjay' was my favorite.

message 10: by Lisa (last edited Feb 21, 2013 02:40PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lisa I didn't hate it, I just found it too dark and depressing.. especially after Katniss found out what happened to Peeta.

Katniss is all over the place in this book, and when Suzanne wrote about Prim's death I had to read that scene over 3 times before even understanding what had actually happened.

Sylvia I loved all 3 books.

Hannah Lisa wrote: "I didn't hate it, I just found it too dark and depressing.. especially after Katniss found out what happened to Peeta.

Katniss's 'all over the place' edness was my favourite thing about his book. I loved the way Collins showed how the rebellion and the games had messed with her head and her emotions. I felt just as scattered as her while reading, living with her as she tried daily to conquer her fears and bring some normality to life. Confused Katniss was always my favourite.

Patrick I agree, I loved it. So many books end with a nice little ribbon and bow tying everything together, but that's not realistic. While it was heartbreaking and I may not have agreed with everything that happened, it is what it is. I'm not the author so I can't complain that everything didn't go the way I wanted it to.

Jennifer Nope, this book was actually my favorite in the series.

Josey I loved it!! It was more honest than most books. Susanne didnt sugarcoat and happy ever after everything.

Isabella (All Da Ladies Luv Leo) Thomas Lisa wrote: "I didn't hate it, I just found it too dark and depressing.. especially after Katniss found out what happened to Peeta.

I only understood when Katniss said: Without a sister.

S. Lawrence I loved the book! I think it ended perfectly. It made sense that Katniss would suffer physically and emotionally. I was also happy that she and Peeta ended up together. I think that it was a realistic ending given the circumstance.

Miranda I just loved it because it is, in one way, realistic. I mean, what did you expect from Katniss after all she went through? I liked the fact she DID think about suicide, and the world was screwed and she didn't want to live any more, and the madness she has at the end. IT WAS REAL. That's the most probable reaction a real person would have in those circumstances. I mean, the experiences were traumatic. Yeah, it was dark, and cruel and every adjetive you want to add, but we didn't see Katniss saying, "Oh, ok, now I have to get over it and keep with my life, and everything will be fine" Like a bad done character would do. No, you see her suffer, trying to give up, what a human would be like. What a 17 teenage girl would be after she was exploited as if she were like 29 or something. She's too young. I mean obviously her situation made her grow faster, but deep inside she's just a girl. SO I liked this book because of that. Katniss. And all her mistakes, and flaws and problems. And how long it takes her to recover from that.

Karma Queen Miri wrote: "I just loved it because it is, in one way, realistic. I mean, what did you expect from Katniss after all she went through? I liked the fact she DID think about suicide, and the world was screwed an..."
I agree that the ending was realistic. It is important to keep in mind that she has gone through a lot for a 16-17 year old girl. It's no wonder that it was difficult for her to discern what was real and what was not. She was made the symbol of the revolution and that's a lot of pressure for anyone. I was riveted by the series and was disappointed not in the ending, but that it was over.

Magdala heck to the no u werent the onlyone. i gave tht 5 stars, i totally loved it

Emily I loved it! Not only was it realistic but I felt that the message of the books - or at least one of them - really came out in this one - that when it comes to war, no one really wins. Katniss went through so much and she didn't even want to be involved in it for the majority of the series. She lost a lot. Plus, Suzanne Collins is such a talented writer, she can pull anything off!

Miranda Colleen wrote: "Miri wrote: "I just loved it because it is, in one way, realistic. I mean, what did you expect from Katniss after all she went through? I liked the fact she DID think about suicide, and the world w..."

Oh, I know. It was really hard to let go this series. Every book was amazing.

message 23: by Cara (new) - rated it 1 star

Cara Okay, well, I'm in the minority in this discussion, but I hated Mockingjay. I liked the ending (Team Peeta!) but the rest of the book was just violence, violence, violence. Too many characters with weird names were created and killed off in the course of the book in an attempt to make the book more tragic. It didn't work. Instead, it just felt like cheap, hurried writing.

message 24: by Cara (new) - rated it 1 star

Cara But Mockingjay was overly violent. Suzanne Collins didn't need to kill off THAT many characters to be violent.

Haha, Maze Runner fan too?

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not sure I could say any of them were my favourite as I loved them all. Given everything Katniss went through I wasn't entirely sure how the book was going to end but I really enjoyed the way it did and after reading it I couldn't think how else it could have without staying true to the characters.

Francis Casabuena Not for me, this is my least favorite among the three. It's so depressing. Seeing those characters that you loved has died. But the ending is so good.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Aha.... you're joking right?

Richard This book was probably my second favourite. I liked it but I feel she was too "trigger happy" killing characters off. I accept that there are casualties in war however she pretty much killed everyone - it wasn't even that bad on Omaha!

message 30: by Zoe (new) - rated it 5 stars

Zoe i think that this book really answered a lot of my questions. i think that's why i liked it so much. i think that this one was my second favorite. but i loved it!!

Jessica I really liked it! Although I have to admit, I was surprised when Katniss killed the rebel leader (can't remember her name) instead of President Snow. I'm still trying to figure out why she did it. I also think it ended rather abruptly. Suzanne Collins summarized the rest of Katniss' life in a paragraph pretty much. I would've done several chapters on the subject!

message 32: by Matt (last edited Mar 15, 2013 12:50PM) (new) - rated it 2 stars

Matt i really liked this book because it was the weakest installment. ya know...

like gobbling up a turd covered in sprinkles.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Because she felt used and more importantly put her sister in the square for the atrocity

Annie I loved this book a ton.

message 35: by Adam (new) - rated it 3 stars

Adam Cassar Meh. I was enjoying the trilogy but I felt the ending was kinda flat. Thought it was building up for something big, and then it was cut out to go straight towards the resolution.

Erin I really enjoyed the book, my favorite in the series. It was intense. I was thrilled when Katniss targeted the rebel leader instead of snow. It was brilliant!

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

I wish she had killed president snow, and then killed off coin sometime later... I was actually really pissed off when she killed coin first.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Mocking Jay is the best among the series and I don't get WHY is it not considered to be so. IFEELYOU.

Maegen I loved Mockingjay, it was such a well written piece of work that perfectly captured how PTSD worked and had wonderful characterization. In fact, this is my second favorite book in the trilogy after Catching Fire.

Jordan I personally think it was a great book to finish the series and i thought the ending was great, the only thing for me was throughout the book i feel like Katniss had lost a little of her fighting spirit, but can you really blame her for all she went through?

message 41: by Anca (last edited Mar 17, 2013 01:59PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anca I liked it, a lot. I understand why people wouldn't like it, we lost great characters, but I guess that's what the whole point of writing about living in that world is. Losing important people is a reality since the first day of their lives, whether it is because of the game itself, because of the lack of life conditions, or whatever. The point is, and I guess that one of the things the author was probably aiming at was showing how strong she (Katniss) was/is. Plus, this was the one of the three books that from my perspective showed us, the readers, how cruel life was in that reality, you know? I apologize for my "un-perfect" English, but this is my pov.

Personally I loved this book. It was my favorite in the series as well. Was it depressing? Yes. But is war depressing? Yes. Therefore it was realistic and I also loved the character development. I just loved everything about this book, and the series, but also this book because it's my favorite. :)

Andrea I loved the book because it was realistic! Sure the deaths did make me sad but it was a war and people die while in one.I absolutely loved the ending it perfect. Katniss live was not 100% perfect, she was affected mentally and emotionally but she was still happy with Peeta.

Nadhira Amalia no, i really love this book too :') my favorite books all the time. but well, just the ending kinda dissapointed me.

message 45: by Zoe (new) - rated it 5 stars

Zoe i think Katniss killed her because she found out that the other leader made the bomb that killed prim and she got mad and... well killed her. i agree with you though that she only summed up the end in a paraghraph. i think she could have made it a little longer.

Bawan loved it showed how wars are in real life

Marielle Newton This book would have been my favourite in the series if it weren't for the fact it's so horrible depressing pretty much all the way through! :)

message 48: by Bkwrm (new) - rated it 1 star

Bkwrm Hated it

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

But why?

message 50: by Bkwrm (new) - rated it 1 star

Bkwrm I felt the author tried to tie up the ends into nice little bows. It would have been better of she had led some mystery to keep us wondering.... I don't like when authors do that because it feels forced to me. I also felt she could have combined some of this story with book 2 and ended the story. It seemed stretched out at times. Almost disjointed......
