Elle If anyone can help me locate this book, I will seriously try to acquire you a small country (I've been trying to find this book for 10 YEARS):

I read this in high school, so the book may have been published between 1998 and 2003 (or possibly earlier in the 90s :/). It's a comedy novel, probably just over a 100 pages, about a boy whose parents own a health food store, so he always has mixed nuts and other weird food for lunch at school, and the kids make fun of him. The only other thing I can remember is that he was hungry in class one day, and the only thing he had to eat was a banana squashed on his binder (juvenile hilarity ensues). It is likely American, though may be Australian (you can't tell these days). The author's surname may have started with a J, K, L or M, judging by where the book got shelved after I read it half a dozen times (you'd think I could remember, but noooooo...)

Hopefully someone who loved children's books back in the day can help me out! Have a good one :)

ETA: I recall a cartoon rat on the cover, and the health food store maybe getting infested by rats. Hope that helps a little!

Hum, if it weren't for the PARENTS being the health food nuts, I'd suggest Alan Mendelsohn, the Boy From Mars.

Elle Firstly, thanks so much for helping! Unfortunately, none of the titles mentioned seem to be the book I'm after. That being said, the blurb of the Jamie Gilson book did trigger my memory: I've added more details to my initial entry :)

Thanks again!
