I've found ebook reader websites so useful during promotional giveaways that I've written a blog with tips I've found so far. This includes links to more than 50 sites which invite submissions for free, which ones need a month or two weeks' advance notice, which ones only want to hear on the days of a giveaway etc. Also, how to prepare in the weeks leading up to a promotion. I've learnt it from the indies on Kindle Boards. It's amazing and impressive how successful self pubbed authors are. I don't think I could have got through the task of submitting to enough Kindle reader sites without the easy links to so many of them. It has helped incredibly. We have our book in the top 6 for humour and top 6 for literary fiction and #78 for all Kindle books in the UK, and it has had even more downloads in the US, which is so hard for a British author. These reader sites have definitely helped, plus other tips on my blog a couple of posts down.
Thanks for these tips, Adele.I was waiting for Inside Evil to be price-matched, and then today I awoke to 89 downloads having done absolutely no promotional work at all. I was quite shocked! I'm now #1,758 in the total .com freebie store, so submitting to a few more sites should help keep the downloads up and, hopefully, push me even higher!

That's great. The easy links to sites do help you submit to a load of them. Some of them are great at the last minute, some will list perma-free, and some like you to submit on the day. You're sure to get on some. It helps especially in the US, which is a great bonus for UK authors. We have more downloads in the US than UK, although it's almost equal. This is very unusual for an author of very British comedy like V.G. Lee, but I do think Americans like some very British books. The big publishers sometimes turn authors down if they don't think the books sound American enough to fit into both markets.

Hope it helps. The bump in sales after a giveaway does vary from book to book, but even if it isn't a great help with sales, it does get a book out to new fans and followers.
