ABANDONED. YA dystopia, boy living by himself set in future, wants to be a lawyer, in final year of school.

It's about a boy who I'm quite sure lives alone and is in his final years of secondary schooling. In the future, the system works differently in that you can't actually choose what you study. Everything is very controlled, he really wants to be a lawyer but his score might be a bit too high and he might be put to study something else. At the beginning, he is being chased by a group of people that are sort of 'outlaws'. He hides in this hollow cylinder in an abandoned construction site (I think) and somehow ends up finding an entrance to an underground hang out, where people live and don't follow the rules above. They become his friends and in the end he does get into law. I'm not sure but I think they do things against the law. I read this about 5 years ago. I don't remember the cover. My recollection is a bit blurry so some details may not be the same. Please make any suggestions.

What do you have to do to bump the thread up? Yes i believe it was a YA book, as I borrowed it from my school library. Not sure if dystopian, i think so.
