SOLVED. Comedy about running a hotel in the Caribbean [s]

I read this book years ago; it was one of the funniest books I have ever read. A man goes on vacation to a Caribbean island, buys a hotel there, and ends up running it with the islanders. I appreciate any ideas about the title and/or author!
