Mongrel by K.Z. Snow

Dark steampunk, interesting and intriguing mystery that shows intolerance, bigotry and corruption with a very original and well built world and with such a unique hero !

I <3 this book so much. The characters didn't fade when I finished the story months ago and closed the book. They're all stomping around inside my head, getting into new trouble and taking care of each other while we wait with crossed fingers for a sequel. Or even a short story. I'd be happy with anything. This was a gorgeous book.

The Arsenic Flower by Scot D. Ryersson

This is the most extraordinary and insane Victorian tale about revenge I've ever read! There is a saying that illustrates perfectly this story: "revenge is a dish best served cold" and here the word COLD takes on a whole new meaning... it's merciless and deadly! ...

Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know by Scot D. Ryersson

1920 Island of Capri.

Just be warned readers that once you've reached a certain point in this book, there will be no turning back from a deliciously intoxicating madness ! Nobody will be able to save you, you'll be on your own ... with your mind.

Some of these are my favorite authors! I like your reviews - they're thoughtful, so thanks for the recommendations :-)
Just a small point: you've posted them in the Paranormal genre thread and, for example, there's one that should be in the Historical Romance. Just saying :-)

You're most kind, Susan. They are wonderful books! I've moved them to better 'homes' on this group. That made me laugh about these two books in paranormal :)

Natalie Vale (natalievale) | 4 comments This is my short story, Icicle:

Icicle by Natalie Vale

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ARY1H24

Sean is a restless wanderer, always yearning for something just out of reach. When his inability to settle in one place results in the end of a serious relationship, he begins to fear the possibility that words said in anger may have predicted his future: you're gonna die alone.

On one of his adventures, Sean is trapped in a sudden blizzard. He's rescued from the brink of death by Ezra, a mysterious, oddly dressed man for whom the cold holds no danger. Sean is shocked when the instant physical attraction between them reveals the impossible: a glimpse into Ezra's very soul.

Ezra, haunted by unspeakable tragedy, is a truly unsettled wanderer - far from both his home and his own time. For one night, in a tiny cabin deep in the wintry woods, these two lonely souls will find refuge in each other, and the strength to keep moving down the long road home.

This 12,000 word (558 Kindle locations and approximately 31 pages) paranormal romance story contains explicit sex between men and some violent war imagery.

It has one rather long sex scene, at about a 4 on the group scale, which is very much a part of the plot and characterization.

Theo Fenraven | 3 comments A Silence Kept has now been released! It's available at Amazon and All Romance, where it is #1 on the Suspense list. (If I knew how to add an image here, I'd add the cover! Check it out at the GR listing.)

Blurb: Manhattan-based Mikal Gray rents a summer getaway and discovers there's already someone in residence: a very persistent ghost. His friend, Alice, sends help in the form of a sexy ghost hunter named Seth. Together, they unravel the mystery behind the haunting and discover the heart always searches for what it needs...and often finds it.
