strike text: <>The Fabulous Title of the Book I Read
Now, if you put the letter s between those first two brackets, you'd have a strike out.

5--Yes, I'm going to find another of the Dark Hunter books by Sherilyn Kenyon to read. Don't know which one, but 1 of them
6—Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead I did enjoy this book. It was a quick read, and I AM interested in finding out what happens next. Which, I guess is the whole reason for a series, right?

NO idea which book will be next. sigh, so many books, so little time. I'm also trying to get several costumes made (time consuming work on these, as they WILL be judged) and a quilt for my nephew as his wedding present. So, I'm not having quite as much time to devote to my reading this month. I'm thinking I might get only about 15 or 20 books read instead of my usual 40 or 45.

Bum. I've just realised I read the Alyson Noel book before the challenge started (forgot it was on this list sigh). So will have to swap: either a Lynsay Sands title or a Nina Bangs one. Will confirm in a little bit. Bum!

well, I don't have a full time job. I haven't worked since a medical retirement back when I was only 44. (Stay out of car wrecks, serious warning) So when I am in a lot of pain and can't move, I read.
Now, for today's update. :o)

7—Rogue Hunter by Lynsay Sands this is the latest in the Argeneau Vampires book. The Hunter in this case is one of the cousins who works for Uncle Lucien as a Council Enforcer. He finds his Life Mate by accident while trying to track down yet another cousin who has gone rogue. Instead he and his partner find themselves up to their armpits in a nest of rogues--more than that, rogues who have no fangs.

I had finished off a book called Ten Thousand Islands by Randy Wayne White also, and was going to put that in as one of my reads--but decided not to since I still have like 14 more books that COULD qualify for this months challenge even better than the "Doc" Ford book (Doc is the main character in this series.) And, while Doc IS made a little more aware of the existence of "something more than we understand" he is still resisting embracing anything but logic, logic, and more logic. So, despite the ghost, historic Florida Indian rituals I decided that this isn't going to be one of my books for the month. But I WOULD recommend the series to anyone who enjoys a taunt, fast paced thriller--which is really how I'd classify this series.

hey guys--anyone know if the book "Wicked Game" by Jeri Smith-Ready is supposed to be the start of a series? Amazon doesn't say, but I just got it on Monday and it really looks like a GREAT read. I mean, come on--vampire DJ's and a con artist radio station manager battling ancient vamps? Doesn't that sound like a great read to you guys? If it IS the start of a new series, then I am SO going to read it for one of my TBDs. :o)

And, you're in luck!

On the bright note, I have a nice report!! I've finished book 1 for this month's challenge! YAY It's only the 2nd! Well now the 3rd, but whatever!!
Book 1: Maximum Ride: School's Out--Forever by James Patterson. I read the first one last month (one of my non challenge reads) and it was fantastic. I then held on to book 2 for an entire day before reading it just so it wouldn't cross over into this month! LOL Plus I was busy with mum (Ann).
I've now got her library book, Vampire Academy. I'm gonna start it. You guys made it sound so good we had to try it! HEHE I gotta read hard so I hope I don't fall too behind on emails again! I need to be able to return it before our library sends out headhunters. THey are way strict and have way too short a check out time period!
Seems everyone is rocking!!! You guys are awesome! WOOHOO!!!
BTW If I finish this month's challenge I'll be well into my 50's for books read for 2009! ROCK ON!

8--Secret Life of a Vampire by Kerrelyn SparksThe latest book in Sparks series. The Vampire in question is the son of THE Cassanova. Only he is nothing like Daddy dearest. The love interest is a NYC cop who comes in response to the report of a really LOUD party at a hotel. She can’t be controlled by a vamp, so of course our gorgeous alpha vamp falls for her on the spot. A good read, especially if you’ve been following the series.

That's 3 books down so far. I'd be further along in the challenge except that I'm spending a LOT of time over at Oz's working on our costumes for CostumeCon. Only have the rest of this month to get them finished.

I'm on page 80 of the first Vampire Academy book. It has promise but seems to have "First in a series" issues of having this rich world, tons of back story, and then somehow there needs to be a plot thrown in... you combine that with the "Read 5 sentences and get pestered by boys for 5 minutes" that's been going on this morning... oh yeah. ROFL Hoping that maybe if I duct tape them to a wall and force them to recite multiplication tables, maybe they'll chill out.
And then I can finish this book. HAHAHA
do what your Grandmother did the one and only time in my life I EVER admitted to being bored. Put them to work polishing silver, brass, copper, furniture, windows, whatever. I'm SURE some of your neighbors would be glad to bring over their stuff in need of polishing for the boys to work on. Hum, speaking of which--where DID I put those silver pieces that I have. . .

Oh and in there we had the round of psycho freaky fast sit ups for scouts and then the "Hey look I can bend my hand!" which I'm still not sure what was up with THAT and then the "Where are the tissues, I can't find the tissues" Uh they are right here under your NOSE (ha!) thing.
This is what it is like to homeschool. It's always an adventure.
Oh and did I mention the five minutes (seriously, it had to be at least five minutes) of oohing and aaahing and cheering over our new sprouts in our dining room? (We're preparing for garden planting but we've got two weeks before supposedly frost safe.)
And people wonder why I struggle to get MY stuff done? LOL

Thankyou! I do love to read, don't always get the chance, so when my boys are behaving I try to squeeze them in! I had to laugh when I saw the groups for people trying to read 50 books in a year! In a good month I can do that! Do you read a lot? What's your favourite's?
I read a LOT. My fav--that depends on my mood. If I'm hurting (long story, but I am always in pain, just some days its all I can do to not scream constantly from it) then I want light and frothy. Those days I want my Plums, my Hills, even my old Georgette Heyers. All are guaranteed to raise your spirits and make you lol.
Sometimes I want mystery, others adventure, and still others scifi/fantasy. I haven't really put the PNR's into that category (PNR) before. They were fantasy/scifi depending on the venue of the story. I'm really bad about finding a series that's been out for a while and HAVING to get all of the stories and read them in order one right after another. Can we all say OCD much? Thank heavens for used bookstores, Amazon.com and the library. All 3 feed my addiction.
Jennifer, as soon as I finish Don't Talk Back to Your Vampire I will be reading the Jeri Smith-Ready. Be sure to tell us if you like it or not.

And I LOVED it. I like Kim Harrison and Rachel Caine, but sometimes those books are hard for me to read, because they're so mean to their characters, and they don't always have happy endings. This book is urban fantasy in a similar vein, but with a HAPPY ending! If you like Harrison or Caine, or the early Anita Blake books--I bet you'll like Angel's Blood.
2. Kitty Raises Hell by Carrie Vaughn (Kitty the Werewolf # 6)
3. Wanderlust by Ann Aguirre (Jax #2)
4. The Snow Queen by Mercedes Lackey (500 Kingdoms #4)
5. The Smoke Thief by Shana Abe (Dragon thing #1)
6. Night Huntress by Yasmine Galenorn (#5 in the Fae Sisters)
7. The Warlord's Daughter by Susan Grant (#5 or so in her SF series)
8. Echoes in the Dark by Robin D. Owens (#5 of Lladrana series)
9. Duainfey by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller
I'm currently reading the Balogh historical, because I want to.
If I didn't have the part time job, I'd read more than I do, but I'm slowed way down because of it... Wish I had all that time to read... (I'm going to put up the covers of the ones I've already finished.)
Stay well, people.
Oz, you might want to try running your boys around the house three times (or something similarly active) when they get antsy like that. I have a grandboy who Cannot concentrate until he's had some physical activity.
Let's see--welcome Michelle. Glad to have you.
Now, back to your previously scheduled program.

How do you like these Lords of Satyr books? I've seen them here and there, but haven't heard what they're like/about...

Having a healthy appetite for books does get expensive, luckily I have a friend who reads PNR too and we swap a lot (twice the books that way). We also check out Car boot sales and charity shops, we often picck up books for as little as 25p! I do check ebay aswell. If I was to buy all brand new books I'd have to work more than my 20hrs.
My reading also depends on my mood, I'm sorry you are in a lot of pain Ann. When I feel crappy I usually go for a Ranger Fix (I love Janet Evanovich's Plum series). I recently just replaced all my Patricia Cornwell books that I lost and have to make time to read them.
I think I'm going to continue reading the rest of the Christine Warren books, I read 1-3 today, then I will tackle another on this list.
Thanks for the welcome Gail, are Nalini Singh's books any good? I've seen a few on Amazon and have been tempted.

2--Don't Talk Back to Your Vampire by Michele Bardsley Light amusing, mostly, read. This one is about Lucan, the formerly "tainted" vampire/lucan cross who caused the turning of the 11 humans of Broken Heart, OK into vamps, which set up the whole "turn BH, OK into the paranormal capital of the country" thing. His "fated" female is the town librarian and single mother Eva LeRoy.

Gail, I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the rest. I will warn you though, because of all the sex, I would classify them as erotica/romantica. The sex starts on page one and doesn't let up. There is a plot and a good story though. The series centers around 3 brothers, Italian winemakers, who are Satyrs. They are descended from Bacchus, the Greek God of wine and intoxication. Each book centers around one brother and his search for the half fey, half human woman he is commanded to find and marry. The sex is unflinching and if that's not your cuppa...then I would pass on this series.

To many YUMMY men to keep track of"
LOL that's going to be the worst bit about this challenge. I've got 16 different books already lined up to read this month, but I don't think for a second that one of these series books won't result in me running out to buy and read the rest, thereby throwing off of my well intentioned reading schedule (just like last month). sigh... ;)
