Ouch! I clicked on that link you provided and that looks very painful for Mr. Johnson. Poor Mr. Johnson.

Huffington Post is running a series of articles on Asexuality. Thought I'd post each of the links here, if anyone's interested in reading them. :o)

1. What is Asexuality?

2. Asexual Disorder? The Search For Ace Identity Is Part Recognition, Part Redefinition

3. Asexual Relationships

4. Asexual Discrimination*

*While I have never had any of this happen to me personally, I have read posts by those who have. Not fun.

He does look very uncomfortable. Nor does it look like he's having fun while Mr. Virgin Airlines looks on with amusement ...

Boyd (boydwalker) | 2304 comments Olly Olly Oxen Free!

Come out, come out wherever you are. It's safe to return to the Complaint Department.

I'm complaining the Complaint Department lost 9 members in two days.

Also I'm upset that we've only had 10 current members posting messages in the last 24 hours. Usually in that period we have 60 and some days we'd have 60 messages in 12 hours.

Also only about half the number of people who respond to polls voted for their favorite spice. You can now do a write in for garlic or any other spice you hanker for but don't see on the list.

So unless we all try to get back in the spirit of the good old Complaint Department grumbling, commiserating, supporting, cheering, fun and friendliness we are in for a slowdown.

Thank you stalwart and sexy Gabbo for posting so many fun and upbeat messages!

The bickering is over folks. It's safe to return to the cozy, funny, place to blow of stream and have fun doing it so COMPLAIN! We wil either support you or comfort you or laugh with you.

Olly Olly Oxen Free!

Dreadful, criminal. horrifying is my complaint for most recent HuffPost article on Asexuality and Discrimination. These words are not just an oxymorom the are evil to the bone: 'corrective rape.'

Thank you Lori for updating the links so we can see the new articles on asexuality.

Gabbo Parra (lordgabux) | 559 comments I bemoan immensely because I'm pretty ( yeah I know I am) sure that many members are disgustingly distracted by the LHNB event on the M/M Romance group, and that's why they are not participating actively. You know how we loooove free stuff hahahaha.

I've been annoyingly informed that mine is coming soon, yay double harrumph.

We can do it! Remember in the words of famed Hitchhiker's Guide author Douglas Adams, “Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.”

Grrr. Dagnabbit! Why choose work when you know we adore you and have respect for your discernment and smarts? Preston is ready to become president of your fan club (but he's too shy) and Colton thinks you're voice is important in furthering human rights. Anil Sweet Anil, I'll send you a PM because we going forward with a clean slate (almost all the bicker was deleted) and never want to think about the distasteful quarreling again.

Welcome back to the conversation. Please dear friend stay away from any danger but keep us up to date on what you know about the protests that is not in the news. To me as an outsider it seems like a good thing that the government is going to hold as referendum on building the mall and is not forcing the protesters out at the moment. Am I wrong about this news I read?

Many hug, hearts and hopes for you, Preston

message 4471: by Anil (new)

Anil (loykalina) | 303 comments I am afraid the protestors were forced out of Gezi Park unfortunately. I was nearby when that happened. I was stuck at a cafe whole night. The police fired too much tear gas. It was impossible to breathe at one point.:-( The park is full of policemen right now.

After the brutal attack, the protestors started to protest by standing up. The police took some of those protestors for resisting police without resisting. Mind-boggling, isn't it?

Actually, the governing party is rather untrustworthy. There were cases when they won with a landslide. Dead people voted in those cases.

The protests started as against the mall, but it transformed into protests for democracy.

I am still "fighting" against a British university and their useless admission officers. They claim that I submitted the documents they requested after the end of registration period. I submitted the documents before the deadline they emphasised in the request e-mail. It seems they sent that e-mail only one day before the end of registration period. In other words, I would not have been able to join the course on the same day I received the e-mail because I would have missed the registration period. They told me they were unable to give me a specific date, but sent a general e-mail. They can't explain how I can be offered a place, obtain a Visa and go there to register on the same day. Gosh, I really hate them.

message 4472: by Jan VL (new)

Jan VL (jane_a) | 167 comments I'm not sure what news has gone out from Brazil as to why there are protests, but I do know that Brazil is one of the most corrupted countries in the world. Next year they will be hosting the world cup and want to make it The Best world cup ever, but they don't have the money to do so, and therefore the public has to pay for it. This is why everything escalated when the government decided to raise public transportation by 20 cents.

This is one of the videos I found that explains the basic problems which Brazil is dealing with.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...

I have many Brazilian friends since I've lived there for 5 years, and I constantly get messages, photos and videos from the protests there. I've even read that they wanted to shut down facebook for 24 hrs. I think that if the government has to use these means to keep their people in control, yeah, I guess they can't handle the situation well...

Complaining that I never heard of this great injustice. The woman who presents the story is very calm but her story is very disturbing.

Even more disturbing is the ironic pictures of the poverty and human rights violations going on while we hear the President of Brazil declare how wonderful things are now. Such hypocrisy in this case is criminal. This starts at about 4:30 and continues for the last minute and a half of the video. If you don't have 6 minutes to see how Brazilians are being mistreated, at least watch this last minute and a half.

Thank you Jane!

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments A grumpy hello and all, I've been busy today and am exhausted!

Any way, here's part 5 of the six articles on Asexuality. Today's story is about inclusion. Personally, I don't mind being defined under the term "queer" since I've never exactly fit in with the rest of the world. The past several months (ask me if you're really interested in boring stuff) have been interesting and eye opening.

5. LGBT, Asexual Communities Clash over Ace Inclusion.

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments It's quite icky about Brazil. Yes, the Cup and the Olympics (which are expensive to run for anyone) will, hopefully, up the tourist dollar and economy, but it shouldn't have to be at the cost of the country's people. I haven't seen the video, but I'm not surprised at the source of the unrest.

Lori and anyone who wants to comment I'm wondering if LGBTQ would work.

I wish instead of LBG then LGBT now LGBTQ the acronym would have been GSM for "gender and sexual minorities" or something like that was used so we don't have to deal with adding letters for Curious, Questioning, Transvestites, Intersexed, Asexual and others. Obviously the public has started to recognize LGBT and I don't think LGBTQ would be hard to accept but the idea of adding many other differing sexual minorities LGBTTQQCIA would not get much acceptance with anyone.

GSM would be so much easier and more inclusive but since LGBT has caught on it would be hard to change now.

Bill Serpe, the executive director of Senior Action in a Gay Environment (SAGE), has defined "queer" is a catchall word for anyone who is outside the societal norm, not just those who identify themselves as part of the gay community.

So would LGBTQ satisfy the majority of people are who are asexual and in the other gender and sexual minorities?

Hi Andra, that is all behind us and we are going forward (no looking back) with a renewed commitment to being the place where people can complain, receive or give empathetic commiseration, have fun and make friends. I'm so happy you decided to pop in and take notice of our new look and faces.

Averin | 1962 comments Begrudgingly, I shall state that: Orientation was an insulting waste of $65, I only enrolled in two classes, neither for my major nor my minor, and since control freak DH decided to make it a family trip instead of me going alone, I did not get to go back the next day to resolve things. And, of course, he managed, yet again to become unemployed.

This is an old story that is meant to be nullified by my going back to school. Not the case yet.
