We have a special section for complaints about Goodreads here in the complaint Department at http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Or if you like to tell Goodreads directly go to the Official Goodreads blog about the Amazon deal and complain in the comments at this link:

Rick... Im peeved, and in the words of our wise (and may I say hot but cute in an all American "cap turned backwards way" leader ) bejiggered and cowering in fear of my life because you obviously heart these guys in a slightly stalkerish obsessive way, so please don't beat me into a pulp with a firemans pole .........but who are jonny and hadji? * covers head with arms and ducks * ..... Rick | 15794 comments Macky wrote: "...who are jonny and hadji? * covers head with arms and ducks * ..... IM BRITISH please don't hurt me..."

I'm very upset that the British never got to be invaded by the classic cartoon series Jonny Quest. I'm also really angry that I don't have time right now to post of photos since I have to get to my history class. That would be History 391 History of the Future, yes I'm actually taking a class called 'History of the Future' and it has nothing to do with Doctor Who. Although we have mentioned the Doctor once or twice.

I'm naffed off enough now to go on you tube and check out Jonny Quest so I can see what all the fuss is about.. And Im also annoyed because I'm now very impressed by Rick because he teaches a class with such a cool title. Hmmmph!

JustJen "Miss Conduct" (just_jen) I'm fairly disgruntled that I awoke this morning feeling like someone used my torso as a heavy bag and I'm sitting here in pain all day because I have no good meds here, and the pain is now spreading to my head. How is that even possible? And I'm further peeved that I can recall nothing that would explain such trauma. I am slightly terrified it might be a kidney infection but am steadfastly in denial and hoping my crappy mattress and awkward sleeping are the true culprits.

I'm upset that I was misunderstood. I'm not teaching History of the Future, I'm taking the class. I wish I could take credit for it, but alas - not yet anyway.

And I'm STILL upset that Hadji & Jonny only have two votes. It's just criminal.

Rick | 15794 comments I want to complain that my History of the Future is over. Nice lecture on Robots but it's never long enough for such a fun class. Tomorrow we're watching Blade Runner and we'll have our class discussion on Thursday. Anil (loykalina) | 303 comments I have just finished A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood. I hadn't watch the film and I'd seen only few scenes. It is completely different what I expected because those few film scenes. I hate to have finished it this late (it is 01:45 am here) because I feel as if someone punched my throat, because the end is not as I imagined. I must say it is one of the best books I have ever read.

message 1533: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Cmbwey wrote: "I am impressed that he attends Bowling Green! The university in the middle of a corn field"

I'm annoyed that someone finds attending BGSU impressive. They only critia the administration seems to have about accepting students is whether they'll pay their bill or not.

As for the corn field. Yep, that's about right. You can stand in the center of town and walk three miles in any direction and hit a corn field. And it's really annoying when students from the even smaller villages around Bowling Green talk about going to the big city and they are not talking about Toledo (which is not a very big city to start with). Bowling Green is NOT a big city no way, no how. And I have really grown to dislike this "Wicked Little Town."

message 1534: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Cmbwey wrote: "Joking...they have a couples of bars too"

Funny that you should mention this since at one point BG was known for having the highest ratio of places that serve alcohol to population of any city in the US. Am I allowed to complain about that?

Something else that is worthy of complaint: Toledo at one time had the highest ratio of places of worship to population. And Toledo and BG are only half an hour drive apart. Go figure.

So, Cmbewy, how do you like them corncobs?

message 1535: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Macky wrote: "I'm ashamed to say I don't know what the Bowling Green is.... Dash it you've stumped me!"

I really hate that Bowling Green is one of the flatest places, not only in the US, but in the world as well. It's pretty sad when the highest elevation for miles around is the top of a campus apartment building or, for those rugged outdoor types, a man-made hill on a golf course.

Rick | 15794 comments Macky wrote: "who are jonny and hadji? * covers head with arms and ducks * ..... IM BRITISH please don't hurt me!"

I really hate it that people think just because I was born in the US I'm some gun-totting madman. I've never even fired a gun in my life. And yes, that is another way that I'm in a minority in the US.

I'd like to complain about having to post a link for information on Jonny Quest but I really don't mind:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonny_Qu...

For that matter, there's another closeted cartoon couple: Race Bannon and Benton Quest. And at one point Race Bannon was voted as being the best cartoon mom. Can I complain about my memory being so bad that I can't remember where or when that award was given? It might have been on Cartoon Network like 10 years ago.

Tj (bluesmokey) | 632 comments I am frustrated over paint. Yes, I'm better today so what happens? I went to San Antonio, nearest BIG city, with hubby and went paint shopping. OMG sooooo much paint!!!! Thank goodness I'm not doing the painting. (Hubby would be furious with me as it would put me in bed for a week.) Here's the thing. I have no style sense...none! Hubby picks the colors. He even went with my daughter and I dress shopping when she was nominated for Homecoming Queen. You know what happened...HE picked the dress! Daughter LOVED it.

I want to complain, but is to tired and to weak, my mom will accompany me to the hospital because I am too weak to take the trip alone. One day before the control at the hospital and hopes to get started with biological medicine.

Is very tired and in a lot of pain, so I'm not as active on the page that I want to be, which is a shame because I do want to talk with my friends and this makes me very sad and I want to cry.

Johnny Quest, I did know that they were a item and it was one of the Series I loved to see.

message 1542: by Anil (new)

Anil (loykalina) | 303 comments I hate that Helle feels too tired and weak. I hope Helle will start biological pills.

I also hate that people who are doing a degree in Science (in this instance, it is someone who is having a degree on Computers) think it is easier to do a degree in Humanities.

message 1543: by Goesta (last edited Apr 03, 2013 04:34AM) (new)

Goesta I feel wretched for Helle too, and nothing I can do except maybe try to make her laugh a little. So.

Triple L axed me to contribute to the story thread, and of course I caved in, so I riffed off a deleted segment and came up with a punny little story monologue, over easy, eggs specially for you guys'n'gals. Frankly, I'm miffed at myself for procrastinating on my edit, but there. Just waiting for Big L to unlock his secret portal for me as soon as he wakes up.

It doesn't irk me as much, though a bit (otherwise I'd be breaking the rules here) about science jocks dissing us arts and humanities fairies. I was pretty good at both in high school, but didn't take any science in college, except a year or two of calculus. Maths and physics were actually easier for me than art or English. More clear problems, less thinking involved for me. But at a certain level, you have to be creative in both, and the brain hurts equally. Just in different places. And still some nerds (never be real scientists) who can't draw an anatomically correct whatever on their stall wall think being profoundly thoughtful and creative is easy.

Big difference for me, in the end choice (other than my heart and the way my brain works), was what to me is both easier and harder in the arts: You never know if you're right about anything anyway. But at least you won't be responsible for some bridge collapsing or plague or plane falling out of the sky. Your mistakes are more personal, and, in the scheme of this world, anyway, far less important. Not to yourself, of course, or those who look to you for inspiration on how to exist meaningfully as human beings.

Yeah, the undervaluing of creative human thinking about what it means to be human peeves me off a bit. Have to admit.

I get really frustrated about this as well. I would like to blame it on Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory but unfortunately it goes back much longer than that show has been on the air. I'm getting a degree in English with minors in History and Film Studies, yet I tutor Astronomy. In the sciences it is all about finding the right answer, in humanities there are not right answers. Some people who understand science have a hard time grasping the concept that some things do not have a right answer, but that does not make it any less important.

If it wasn't for the bars/pubs, that would happen in BG as well. I've been told that BG was selected for the site of the university because it was, at least at that time, a dry community. I have no idea if that is true or not. I love that: BG a dry community in the middle of a drained swamp. Oh the irony!
