All hail the mighty corporation! All power to the CEOs and BoDs! Protect the bank accounts at all costs! The consumer must remain powerless! The consumer is a teat that exists solely for the corporation to suck dry! More power (and wealth) to the 1%!

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Amazing to think that I just paid in annual income tax 400,000% more than the six biggest global corporations operating in Britain did in annual corporation tax, because they paid 0% on collective profits totalling more than 40 billion pounds.

Of course the licenses they had to pay for (to themselves) in the cayman islands and Lichtenstein were much more, which is why technically they all made UK losses.

That means you paid no taxes since 400,000 percent more than zero equals zero. Of course with Oliver being Swiss you have relatives with access to those highly secretive Swiss bank accounts used to hide assets. Although I can't figure out how you made a bank deposit of zero dollars. You guys confuse me so! I better stop thinking because your logic is starting to make sense.

Preston | 20148 comments I am totally annoyed that I cannot think of any way to complain that New York is taking steps to stop therapists from trying to change young people’s sexual orientation, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Saturday, joining a number of states that have acted against what’s known as gay conversion therapy.

You know what I mean :) I had to pay GBP 420.20 in tax, which is four hundred and twenty times more than the other lot put together (I'll let them keep the twenty pee)

Preston | 20148 comments It is truly annoying that I cannot buy all the VIP packages to see David Tennent and Matt Smith together in NYC. See announcement below from Broadwayworld.com:

"Wizard World, Inc. (OTCBB:WIZD) today announced that for the first time, David Tennant and Matt Smith, the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors in the long-running Science fiction series "Doctor Who," will appear at a public event together when they attend Wizard World NYC-The Doctors on Saturday, April 16 at the Playstation Theater (1515 Broadway) in Manhattan. Whovians will have the unique opportunity to meet one or both of these popular stars with a variety of VIP packages, available at http://wizd.me/NYCPR.

Fans will be able to purchase Dual VIPs, which include a photo op with both Tennant and Smith along with an autograph from each and guaranteed attendance for two at their interactive Q&A panel. Solo VIPs will off a single photo op with either Doctor, one autograph and one Q&A admission. A limited number of solo photo ops may be available (dual photo ops are VIP only).

Preston | 20148 comments I am more than perturbed, rancorous, uptight and hopping mad that no one wants to give me $850 so I can buy these tickets:

Wizard World NYC – The Doctors: David Tennant & Matt Smith - David Tennant & Matt Smith PLATINUM DUAL VIP Experience
Price: $850.00

I'll even forfeit the 10th Doctor If nobody thinks I'm worth $850 but then I shall be super PO'd if I don't get $450 for just the David Tennant photo op, autograph and Q&A,

"David Tennant GOLD VIP Experience @ Wizard World NYC – The Doctors: David Tennant & Matt Smith
Price: $450.00"

Rick | 15794 comments $850.00 to have you're picture taken with David Tennant & Matt Smith? Doesn't that sound like a kind of prostitution to you? ;)

Preston | 20148 comments Rick wrote: "$850.00 to have you're picture taken with David Tennant & Matt Smith? Doesn't that sound like a kind of prostitution to you? ;)"

Why yes Rick I do believe you are correct as usual. At that price it would be quite foolish if sex wasn't included. I suspect "Q&A" is a code word for the prostitution activity. Wouldn't autographed condoms be dandy memorabilia far exceeding a sonic screwdriver?

message 6717: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments Sadly, I have to spend nearly the same amount to get my poor kitty's teeth dealt with.

Also, $850? Wizard World sounds just like Creation Con (emphasis on the word con)!

Con jobs? Yes, yes they are. That why I don't go to cons anymore. :(

I like the regional cons which are run by the local SF/F clubs and such. The big, national cons, on the other hand, are money making rackets.

Preston | 20148 comments I have to carp, fuss and bemoan that Bethany is selling free words Hmmm. No wait! I have to carp, fuss and bemoan that Bethany is giving away (that means free!) books she wrote.

Go to: http://www.smashwords.com/profile/vie...

to see this outrageous travesty of capitalism.

But wait there's more!

Bethany has written a book using her last name to throw us off her trail. Bethany Ebert wrote Deathskull Bombshell which will snare you with it's tale of The O'Doole parents are always out of town for work, leaving their kids Nick and Brooke to raise themselves. Nick is a gay asexual workaholic with a distaste for the vices of society. Brooke, however, embraces chaos with her punk band Deathskull Bombshell. When things get out of hand, she takes a train to the East Coast, gone forever.

The book is available for an outrageously low price in comparison to it's insane value at:

http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/ebertbe...

But wait there's more!

Bethany will be putting in a personal appearance in a Complaint Department topic or game near you for absolutely free!

Her prices are insane! Quick pick up Deathskull Bombshell before it has the feasibly likely improbability of going Out of Print like her perfectly perfect The Moon Is Always Bisexual.

Remember you can pay $19.99 for Deathskull Bombshell at: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/ebertbe... or get the exact same book for free at:
http://www.smashwords.com/profile/vie...

But wait there's more!

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments I am fully contrite at taking advantage of free reading material. (Ducks head in thanks)

message 6732: by [deleted user] (new)

Hahahaha, thanks for the shameless plug.

The hardcover copy of Deathskull Bombshell was done out of my own artistic whimsy. Lulu's paperback copies only offer glossy-cover (like a magazine), and I wanted a matte cover. Their hardcover books come in matte cover, but they're more expensive to make for the company, so I had to sell it at a higher price. It's got a nifty dust jacket, though.

But yeah, if you like eBooks I would recommend checking out the Smashwords website - there's quite a few free (or $0.99) books available if you do a search for them.

message 6733: by [deleted user] (new)

As far as The Moon Is Always Bisexual, I included way too many bitter love poems and felt it pertinent to take the book off the market. I may release a new edition in the future, though.

Rick | 15794 comments Wren (He or They) wrote: "Also, people using the t slur in an lgbt group >:("

I was listening to Gaga's Born This Way the other day (background music while doing something else) and something occurred to me. While this some is a kind of anthem for LGBQ culture, it kind of ostracizes the T portion of that community.
I have a very dear friend who was born in a female gendered body, but he's always felt that was wrong. I also dated someone who was born in male gendered body, but I found later that she always wished she had been born female. For both of these people that song is actually kind of insulting and certainly not empowering or uplifting.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm just starting to realize how at odds the LGBQ community is with the needs and perspectives of the T community.
For what it's worth Wren, I apologize for the behavior of those people using the t slur, it was cruel and thoughtless of them.

message 6747: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Ebert (heart77) | 117 comments Wren, have you considered seeing a therapist who specializes in gender therapy? It might be helpful for you. Some cities have transsexual support groups and LGBT support groups - might your city be one of them? I would look into it.

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble.

message 6748: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Wren (He or They) wrote: "Also, people using the t slur in an lgbt group >:("

Why the heck would an LGBT group allow slurs to transgendered people. Who is responsible for your group where slurs are allowed?

If anyone makes a slur here against any sexual minority including asexuals (additionally all federal protected classes) they have violated the rules of our group and are banned from the Complaint Department.

In the three years we have existed as a group only one person did violate the rules and did so in very large way. I deleted his hate messages and bounced him out of the Complaint Department so fast that fortunately few people saw the evil he created.

Why would anyone Lesbian, Gay, or Bisexual attack or even be rude to a Transexual or Transgendered person? It sounds to me like the best way to lose our unified cause is by attacking each other.

Thank God my Transgendered college buddy never had any negative reaction when she went through her journey from male to female. She lives in a liberal area and is a self employed artist so that was a help.

As always it is the poor and minorities that have the hardest time living in areas that breed hatred and having no access to support.

I admire anyone who volunteers to help or who can afford to give any amount small or not so small in contributions to organizations that do provide support.

I've looked into it. I got referred by my doctor and never got a call back. I'll look into it again soon (gotta get an appointment with my busy doctor first). There are a few lgbt groups but it sucks because they're so far away (hour bus ride there and an hour back) and meetings occur so late at night. And the closest one isnt for transgender people all across the spectrum, its only for transsexual ones who have or are physically transitioning. So since I'm not physically transitioing that group isnt for me :(
