Rick | 15794 comments As if he wasn't scary enough! Now sombody goes and makes a frekin' pumpkin out of him! What a waste of a perfectly good gourd.

Oh hey, it looks like I'm going to be able to gofer at a Shakespeare conference on campus this week/weekend Whoohoo! Shakespeare! I do so love me some Bard!

Oh, wait, uh, I've got to complain that I'm not getting paid to attend this conference on Shakespeare and only wont have to fork over the registration fee. (there I complained)

And they traveling company is staging Macbeth and that's not nearly as bloody and twisted as Titus Andronicus. But hey if you can't have a Titus... At least you can Macbeth with the rest of them. ;-)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I'm pretty cheesed off that the BBC's "Bake Off" program refused the entry of my finest cuisine creation — the Titus Andronicus Pie.

message 6263: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Thanks Lori, That tape got the job done. There was a bunch left over though so I will keep the extra here in the Department near my locker in the back room then we can use them the next time we need it.

Yes. That is very annoying. The author's initials don't happen to be JL, do they?

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments Ah. Sounds interesting. And still very annoying that it's been spoilered!

message 6271: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments I am saddened that the Shakespeare Conference I've been attending for the last couple of days is over.

I am now suffering from Post-Con Depression, that would be Post-Conference not Post-Convention, they are similar conditions, but not identical. :(

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments The let down from the fun is no fun. I sympathise.

message 6278: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Well, the doctor released me from care, according to him the thumb is healed and my stress ball squeezing is good physical therapy. But why do I have dull, throbbing ache in my wrist and thumb? Guess what? I've probably got arthritis because of the broken thumb.

Ok, that's it! Stop the world, I want to get off.

message 6279: by Eric (new)

Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 386 comments I wish to complain that GRL is going to be in Kansas City next year, and that means I'll be able to attend my very first one. Sheesh, who'd've thunk that at my age I still had a virginity yet to lose?

Of course, this information may be a reason for Complainers to stay away in droves, but on the off-chance it doesn't frighten you off, please let me know if you do decide to attend. Though that decision time is quite a ways off yet.

I'd really like the chance to meet some of the folks I know online in real life.

Eric

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Dammit! I meant to post these under the Author Promotion bit and got confused… But just took delivery of 10 comp copies from the publisher. Good ol' Kip Nolan…

message 6283: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Damn! And all I got from Kip Nolan was an eARC. Well, I only gave him a review, you lent him Oliver Frey for that gorgeous cover, so I suppose I can understand.

I can only guess that the copy I preordered from that darn eRetailer named after some obscure tiny South American river will be winging it's way to me soon.

message 6287: by Wren (new)

Wren (wrenreaders) | 339 comments But this is on a whole new level. I feel like an outcast within a group of outcasts :'(

message 6288: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments I must complain that the first time I ever felt like I wasn't a complete outsider in the US was when I attended the big March on Washington in 1993. I went alone, even though I knew others who were going, but I had a friend that lived just outside DC, in Maryland who I could stay with (I ended up adopting his cat, Nellie, when he joined the Peace Corps but that's another story). I think it was the day, or maybe two, before the March and I was alone hunting up used books in stores in and around Dupont Circle. I was headed back to my friend's place for dinner and was waiting at a platform to get on a subway. There were people everywhere, crowded around. Lot's of incoherent chatter. The murmur of the crowd filled the platform. Then there was a slight lull and someone screamed out: "If you're queer and you know it clap your hands!" at the top of their lungs. There was a second of silence and then this reverberating, thunderous applause and cheering filled the entire enclosed space. I was cheering and applauding right along with pretty much everyone else around me. Then it slowly subsided and everywhere I looked I saw smiling faces and even tears in eyes. I'd never felt like that before in a room full of strangers before. And haven't since (although I've come close). In a weird inexplicable way I felt safe for the first time in my life. I didn't know anyone's name and I was in a strange city (even though I'd been to DC several times over my life), this should have been a bit scary and a bit intimidating. But for a few moments I felt safe. And from the look on everyone else's face - they might have felt the same way.

https://www.chocosphere.com/

>sigh<

Though I have tried some dark chocolate (good for your health) of the 60-70-80% cacao range. I don't know that they ship internationally but they do across the U.S.

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments Mmmm, chocolate. I've had a soft spot for Hershey's Specials of long standing. Also recommend Fanny May's Lemon Creams ...

Or maybe chat to a good friend? I know not everyone has friends they can complain to. A good book works for me too.
