Complaint Department member Alexa Land is not really a PR "ho" as she confessed but she is completing against a slate of nominees in the M/M Romance Group for June Author of the Month Group Read. She thinks it's cheesy to ask people to vote for her. I told her that was a great attitude if she wanted to lose.

I have stopped sending out messages when we have new polls or events because I don't want to bother you with messages. But this is different. I promise not to bother you again this year (unless when Roger finishes his next book he is competing for votes.)

So one of our most talented gay love story author members needs our help to get the exposure she needs to entertain fellow members here and M/M Romance readers wherever they may be.

PLEASE support your fellow Complaint Department bellyacher, grouser, fusspot, moaner, whiner, whinger and author member as she goes for the gold.

Even if you don't intend to read her books right now our grumpy solidarity needs to show it's strength for a dazzling, contributing member of this group.

If you are a member of the M/M Romance Group please vote for your fellow Complaint Department member Alexa Land now.

The link to vote is: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...

The deadline for voting for Alexa Land is May 26th.

My friend and brilliant co-member Lori THANK YOU for voting for Alexa Land!

Alexa is not only a very friendly and smart ass member of our little group she's a great writer in my view because she wraps a real plot around a love story between two unlikely people (e.g. a porn star and a disabled veteran) but she has the ability to pack humor in there too like an 80-something year old grandma mafiosi who is always anxious to get her "gay homosexual boys" married. There are elements of serious issues including PTSD and adventures like shoot outs and car chases but I love her books because she also includes humor and even a touch of snark :-) with out using worn out M/M standard tropes and plot devices.

I'm too scared to read her vampire books so I don't know about those but people who rated her Tinder Chronicles series thought well of it with the average overall rating being above four stars.

I hope you love the books. I believe reading the stories in the Firsts and Forever series in order is important. Here are the books in the series in order: Way Off Plan, All In, In Pieces, Gathering Storm and Salvation.

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments Oh, could turn her nose up to a "mafiosi grandmother"? Not me that's for sure!

Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 386 comments I deeply regret having to advise you that I submitted "whispers in a promised land" as a candidate for poem/poet of the month in the GR poetry group.

Should you care to check it out, here's the link:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

And if by some remote chance I become one of the finalists I will most assuredly be back here begging and groveling for votes, and agreeing to just about anything in order to get them!

Eric-the-"poet???"

message 5660: by Alexa (new)

Alexa Land | 69 comments Lori and Preston, hugs to you both!! Lori, I really hope you enjoy my books! And Preston, you totally rock. Thank you for pimping me out! :D

message 5661: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I'm shocked and appalled (yes, definitely completely appalled) to discover that our co-mod Preston is a pimp.

Alexa, you must have seen being driven about in a dark window-tinted, pink stretch with leopard-skin upholstery, wearing a deep purple double-breasted with ermine fur collar.

I feel most strongly that I shall have to message co-mod Boyd and suggest Preston's removal on the grounds of bringing down the tone of complaining.

message 5676: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2175 comments Oooh look at that sweet mean ole Roger giving us the finger. Tsk tsk tsk I think he needs a whole lot of hugs and kisses. Here are some from me ( XOXOXOXO) you know that person that cusses all the time. ;)

xxx ooo Preston

Rick | 15794 comments Yeah, count me in that hugs & kisses fest. I just love to eat that kind of stuff up. Although I'm not sure about that big green meany up there, giving him hugs & kisses seems a bit stress inducing.

That's sooooooooooooooooooooooo sweet!

It inspired me to go listen to Doris Day singing your theme song:

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Now I'm disgusted at myself. How could I be so cruel, I say to myself. I feel like Frankenstein's monster, befriended by the blind violinist and the trusting little girl, and all because of Eric making me play that beautiful, romantic awful piece of mawkish mush by Doris. How could I possibly admit to having grown up to listen to music with this?.

P.S. Give the big green meany a kiss and a hug and he might just turn into a handsome young prince (THYP™ and © 2013, the Everwending Story, Inc.)

message 5682: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I feel I must congratulate whinge that Complaint Department members have done a great job failed to give our fellow author-member Alexa a sufficient lead in the M/M Romance author of the month. Only a hopefully unassailable lead 7 points clear of TJ Klune (64) and Theo Fenraven (64) 11:34 Sunday, UK.

Alexa Land | 69 comments I both love and want to kill (in equal measure) the certain individual who nominated me for Author of the Month in the first place, thereby inducing day after day of anxiety until this F@#$ing poll closes! Not naming any names, mind you....

Preston | 20148 comments Alexa wrote: "I both love and want to kill (in equal measure) the certain individual who nominated me for Author of the Month in the first place, thereby inducing day after day of anxiety until this F@#$ing poll..."

Well being Author of the Month for a Group Book Read is boring. Ask Roger. He had to endure the tiresome stultifying process twice with A Life Apart and Gregory's Story.

message 5685: by Alexa (new)

Alexa Land | 69 comments I'm pretty sure I will die of anxiety long before this poll ever closes. But on a positive note, a posthumous victory still counts...

What is your problem lady? Just get Nana over here and at 80-something years old her mafiosi talents not to mention her gun are enough to solve any of your problems with this process.

I'm feeling good about it and I've got more to lose than you do. You can always run again but I will lose my credentials as a campaign manager and vote strategist.

Enjoy the day.

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Might I suggest that nominating an author for Book of the Month be declared a hanging offense…

But if you need cheering up when your laptop/tablet/phone plays up go watch this laugh a second delight…

P.S. Preston… er… you've grown fur. Very attractive fur, mind, but…

Okay. I won't nominate Rod Bellamy. Gee but what about nominating you when Harry Great Trek is published? Is that a hanging offense?

Woof!

No, that might be a mitigating circumstance and get you off with life. :-)

Good boy!

Alexa Land | 69 comments Complaint Department victory!! Thanks to the support of so many of you, including our fearless leaders/co-moderators Preston and Boyd, I came in first in the Author of the Month poll in the M/M Rom Group. No freaking way on earth would that have happened if the Complaint Department didn't have my back!

Yes I know, this post is devoid of any actual complaints. But in my defense, I did a lot of grumbling and general kvetching while voting was in progress. Perhaps I've reached my quota for the month.

Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 386 comments I am pleased and proud to deeply regret having to announce that the winner of the really, really ego-driven Golden 11000 Cyber Trophy, a first-time and only-ever-time award, is Kira Harp, who is Kaje Harper in her YA disguise, for the book Rainbow Briefs.

The significance of the award is that it is the 11,000th book in my library. So, yeah, there's a wee bit (?????????????????) of cyber-back-patting going on here.
